I'm a big fan of the series lol. And I've finished the original metroid on NES. That's pretty brutal if you don't know where you're going...

For sure! I've played through and beat all the Metroid games multiple times. The newest, Other M coming out August 31 this year, looks like it has the potential to be the best in the series. It deals with how Samus got infected between the events of Super Metroid and Fusion. Fusion was just too short, I don't understand why Nintendo made it so short. If it was directed towards the speed-run aspect of the series it would make sense, but it's kinda hard to speed through when you're always having to talk to the stupid computer. With Nintendo still making Metroid games, they should start working on a longer sequel to Fusion (without the computer). Still, it would be awesome if Nintendo released a remake to Metroid 2 like they did with Zero Mission, possibly for the 3DS. Or even better for the Wii like they did with Castlevania the Adventure Rebirth and Contra rebirth, (Return of Samus Rebirth) or something like that.

I'm a huge fan of metroid. I own the trilogy (Prime, Echoes, Corruption separatley) along with Zero-mission which also comes with the original metroid.

The very first Metroid game I ever played was Prime, got hooked, got zero-mission for my B-day, got Echoes, rented Corruption but my wii broke down by unknown reasons after getting 100%, got a new Wii, 1 year later, actually bought corruption from nearby game stop, started over, and pretty much restored my 100%, heard of Other M, saved money, waited, waited, waited, 3 days after release, bought it at same game stop, played it, totally hooked, haven't stopped playing it since.

Now on vizzed I can play Fusion, Super Metroid, and Return of Samus, the titles I never played. The metroid title I have never played to date is Metroid Prime Hunters for DS.

zillamech548 : I have Metroid Zero Mission also! I bought a used game so it still has the save content, save B's location was saved at Tourian so we pretty much beat the game already. Lol

And also, I only got a 52 percent. What am I missing?

punchydroid : I suggest checking how many upgrades you have. I after you beat the game, you can go to the map screen and it shows you in the top left corner, how many missile expansions you have, energy tanks and all that. Each world heas so many and it requires hard looking to find all of them.

Speaking of hard looking, it usually takes me about 20ish hours to complete one of the Metroid Prime games the first time through. I managed to get the first Prime down to about 8 hours with all of the upgrades & the second Prime down to about 10. I don't have the ability to play those anymore so I can't work on my time & i've never had the chance to play Prime 3.

The Metroid games are one of my favorite series. I know Fusion was short but I actually didn't mind talking to the computer. What I didn't like was that stupid long chase sequence with the SA-X. I hate that part of the game.

I also enjoyed playing Metroid Prime Hunters when I had the ability to do so. Trace was my favorite hunter both in the story & in multi-player mode.

All in all, a great series.

The first Metroid game i owned was Fusion, and i loved it. Though short, it was highly challenging and in retrospect it took me forever to find everything to get 100% items. And i have to disagree with Surgiac about the chase scene with SA-X. I loved it because it truly made it feel like you were pethetic and weak compared to this demonic monster of a copy that could kill you with one hit.Let it sink in a little and realize that for many, like me, it was true genuine fear for a little bit there when you drop down smack onto SA-X, and you realize that if you don't run, not only were you screwed, but if i remember correctly (probably don't but bear with me), you also had to refight the previous boss battle. So it gave you a rush of adrenaline as you ran for your "life".

I used to play Metroid on the SNES, and I played Prime on the Gamecube. Definitely a fan. Wasn't a big fan of back-tracking in Prime though. It was kind of tedious.

I feel...so out of place here.

When I played Metroid as a kid, I had no clue what the story was or anything. It was a used game with no book or box. I found out only a couple years ago that Metroid was a girl (which improved its awesome score in my mind, as there weren't a lot of games starring girls back then). I found out a bit later that her name was Samus. Now I find out she was infected with a virus? Wow. I am so out of the loop.

It was brutal, though. It took me forever to get through the original game. It is very confusing in parts, and waves of tough enemies come at you constantly. But, even not knowing much about it beyond what I saw and experienced myself in-game, the game was pretty cool. Is there a Metroid game out there with more freedom of movement? Side-scrolling is fun, but RPG-style movement (such as in the newer stories of Link in The Legend of Zelda) adds a whole new level to any game and I would very much like to see a Metroid played like that.

I liked the challenge of the SA-X chase compared with the rest of the game & the fact that the SA-X was actively hunting you. Other than that, I grew to dislike the chase because it got frustrating at times when I'd go through that chase only to be defeated again & again & having to repeat that boss battle. At other times, I could get through without being hit.

Same thing goes for the last battle with the SA-X before the Omega Metroid. If I could get the SA-X to attack in a certain pattern, I could get through that fight without being hit.

I'd rather fight the SA-X than run from it. Although I wouldn't mind seeing a 3D Metroid game where you had something like the SA-X actively hunting you & not just in a set pattern like the SA-X, but completely random depending on the way you choose to progress through the game.

Fire Mario : There are other metroid games that are first person but you need a certain console. Like a Gamecube for Metroid Prime 1-2 and a Wii for Metroid Prime 3.

The first metroid game I played was Fusion, which i borrowed from a friend. It was an excellent game, and got me into the series. I've played through Metroid Prime 2 on the gamecube and on Vizzed, I've gone through Zero Mission, Super Metroid, and the original (via Zero Mission). As far as the hardest, It's close between the original and Prime 2. Prime 2 is hard because it's hard. Enemies have so much health and attack power, it's ridiculous, plus your beam upgrades have limited ammo, so you end up using the crappy power beam a lot. The original is hard, but a lot of that has to do with the limited controls (i.e. no diagonal shooting, no crouching).

You are a fading dream, but one that has been touched by reality. Run, dream. Run on into the daylight. And walk into reality.
