The Mega Man franchise and even the X franchise has gave us some unique robot masters or mavericks as they are called in the X series. Some of the robot masters/mavericks are based off of mythical creatures. Centaur Man is one of those bosses that is based off of a mythical creature. He made his debut in Mega Man 6 and has appeared in other games.

Background- Before the events of Mega Man 6 Centaur Man was built by a Greek company. He mainly worked as a museum curator about ancient history. He was also charged with collecting artifacts on ancient Mediterranean civilizations. It is also implied that he was also doing research if Atlantic was a myth or was actually an ancient civilization. He was also given weapons too. He was given the Centaur Flash as a weapon and as a buster gun.

When Mister X announced a robot tournament would be held. Greece entered him into the tournament thinking he would do well with his centaur flash and buster gun. He also was eager to enter hoping to win the prize money to remodel the museum he managed. However, Mister X turned out to be none other than Dr. Wily. Dr. Wily took the 8 robots entered and modified them to do his bidding in his latest scheme. Centaur Man was one of the ones modified.

After being modified by Wily he took over an Ancient Greek Ruin. His Ruin was near the water so part of his base was under water, although he is fought on land. His base was rigged with traps. Mega Man made his way through Centaur Man's base. Centaur Man challenged Mega Man but was defeated.

After the events of Mega Man 6 he appeared in the Mega Man fighting games working for Wily. This time he has new attacks. Thus after the events of Mega Man 6 he was likely rebuilt and enhanced more by Wily.

Appearance- Centaur Man is based off the mythical creature the Centaur. He has a horse like body with hoofs on his shoes and has a tail. He has a human torso fused with his horse body just like how the mythical creature the Centaur is portrayed. He is green and yellow in color. On one of his arms he has a buster cannon.

Personality- He is an effective manager making sound decisions and making good plans. He is also a good thinker. He is strong willed. However, sometimes he can dwell on the past too much and his past regrets. He enjoys gambling which could be a reference to derby races.

Attack- Centaur Man in Mega Man 6 has the ability to teleport short distances across his room. He also can use his centaur flash which can stun the player and allow him to get hits hits in. He can fire a large buster shot from his buster. When the buster shot hits the wall it will break into several pieces allowing for him to hit the player/opponent from behind. It should be noted due to having a horse like body he is one of the quicker robot masters.

In the Mega Man fighting game he appears in. He has his main attacks as he did in Mega Man 6. Except this time he has been enhanced and has a new attack. In this game he uses his Centaur arrow. He can fire sharp powerful arrows from a bow he now has on his other arm. He still has his flash and buster weapon.

Weakness- Centaur Man non weapon main weakness is that he cannot jump like his peers. Opponents can use this to their advantage when fighting him. His main weakness is the Knight Crush. Knight Crusher smashes his armor and it keeps him from using his flash weapon. In the fighting game he is weak to Gyro Attack. Therefore given how Knight Crush and Gyro attack are his weaknesses. He appears to be weak to weapons that can smash or cut. His weaknesses could be a reference to how in mythology Centaurs were week to swords and mace balls.

If the player defeats him in Mega Man 6 they will get his centaur flash. the centaur flash can stun enemies and keep them from moving. However, it requires a lot of energy to use. In the fighting game the player will get his centaur arrow. The player can fire powerful arrows at enemies.

His like for gambling and horse racing is likely a reference to horse derby racing. He does not like whips because whips are used to smack horses.

Centaur Man was one of the first robot masters or mavericks to be based off of mythical creatures. The others that followed him were Shade Man (Vampire), Tengu Man (Goblin), Splash Woman (Mermaid) Magma Dragon (Dragon) Skyver (Pagus ) Blaze Heatnix (Phoenix). So yeah he started a trend of mythical robot masters or mavericks in the Mega Man series.

It is not known if after the events of Mega Man 6 if he went back to being the curator of the ancient museum. It is speculated that he did. It is obvious he was rebuilt. He still works for Wily sometimes as he appears in future games. He shares this with fellow Mega Man 6 robot master Plant Man. Wily likely values Centaur Man for his speed, and his ability to stun enemies. It could also be that Wily values him because he knows a lot about ancient civilizations which Wily has shown an interest in when making new robot masters. Despite being modified by Wily he is not aggressive unless challenged which is another trait he shares with Plant Man. This concludes the Centaur Man biography.
