Mega Man 5 introduced us to 8 new robot masters. Wave Man was one of the 8 robot masters who made his debut in Mega Man 5. However, unlike other Mega Man 5 robot masters his appearances after his debut game have been scarce for unknown reasons. He is also the games aquatic robot master, so lets learn about Wave Man.

Background- Wave Man was created after the events of Mega Man 4 for Dr. Wily's latest scheme to take over the world. He is loosely based off of Bubble Man from Mega Man 2. However, unlike Bubble Man Wily fixed the defect allowing Wave Man to function on land and in water.

Dr. Wily created Wave Man to take control over bodies of water, and water supply sources in his latest scheme. During the events of Mega Man 5 Wave Man takes over a water supply and water treatment plant. He does this for two reasons. First, Wily is wanting to hold the water treatment plant hostage to take over the world. Second, he takes it over so Wily can have hydro power for his machines.

Wave Man took over the water treatment and power plant in Mega Man 5. He was aggressive and would attack anyone who dared enter without Wily's permission. When he made a base out of the treatment/power plant he rigged it with steam and spike traps. However, his traps did not stop Mega Man like he had hoped. He put up a fight against Mega Man but was defeated. Thus, Mega Man liberated the water/power plant from Wave Man and indirectly Wily.

After Mega Man 5 Wave man has not made many appearances unlike Stone Man, Napalm Man, Crystal Man, Charge Man, Star Man, and Gyro Man, his peers from Mega Man 5. The reasons for scarce appearances are unknown but given his CD card it is obvious Wily rebuilt him.

Appearance- Wave Man is a human like robot. He has a blue scuba mask like helmet with several hoses. He has a cannon on each arm. One can create large waves, the other one can shoot harpoon spears. He often has blue and yellow or blue/gold armor. He has flippers for feet. He is also short and bulk as he is shorter than Mega Man.

Personality- Wave Man suffers from split personality. He can go into fits of range and anger at random. During this phase he will fire several harpoon spears and use his wave like weapon until his rage subsides. Other times he can be emotional and socially withdrawn. He does not like to socialize and prefers others even his peers leave him alone.

Despite working for Wily he hates pollution and sludge being an aquatic robot master. If he sees pollution he goes into a fit of rage. During this time he will attack ships even those that had nothing to do with the pollution.

Attack- Wave Man can attack in the water and on land. Despite being an aquatic robot master. His fight in Mega Man 5 takes place on land. Wave Man will try to dash at the player/opponent. His main attack is creating his water wave weapon. During this attack Wave Man will stick his cannon into the ground to create monster waves. The waves can be hard to dodge. His other main attack is to fire his harpoon spear. Sometimes he can fire his harpoon in rapid fashion.

Weaknesses- Wave Man's main weakness is charge kick. Charge Kick knocks him for a loop. However, the player has to get close to him and dodge the wave and spears to hit him with it. His other weakness is he follows a simple pattern. His harpoons can be dodged even when he fires them rapidly there is a slight delay in between them. The delay is when he is open to attacks.

If the player defeats him they will get the Water Wave Weapon. The player will be able to fire 3 tall waves of water. The waves can be used to clear ground enemies and do multiple hits.

An aquatic robot master who prefers to fight in distance combat. Other versions state an aquatic robot master who is an improvement over Bubble Man he can fight in the water and on land.

Good Point- Environmental Friendly and can be emotional when it comes to the environment.

Bad Point- he does not socialize

Likes- Diving and being in the water.

Dislikes- Pollution and sludge.

Despite being created to be aggressive and take over the water treatment/power plant Wave Man is passionate about the environment. He is known to be moved to tears when he sees pollution then go into fits of rage. He enjoys being in the water. He hates pollution though for two reasons. First it pollutes the water that he loves to be in. Second, it can clog his hoses up requiring him to clean himself.

Wave Man could be considered an eco-terrorist because while he hates pollution. He will attack anyone or anything when he sees it until his rage calms down. He will even attack ships, that have nothing to do with pollution. He is not afraid to attack even those who did not participate in the pollution. His personality as stated is split he can be emotional one minute than full of rage the next.

He helps Wily in Mega Man 5 by taking over the plant for reasons I mentioned above. It is revealed Wily rebuilt him. But unlike his peers his appearances in future Mega Man games has been scarce for unknown reasons. It is speculated that due to his CD card it could be because he is a non sociable robot master. On the other hand, Wily had made some non sociable robot masters and they have appeared in other Mega Man games. Thus, wave man is a complex robot master for the reasons I mentioned above.
