Mega Man 3 gave us a lot of unique robot masters. In fact, that became a staple in Mega Man games. Hard Man is one of those robot masters. He made his debut in Mega Man 3. Since then he has appeared in other games.


Background- Hard Man was originally created by Dr. Light and by Dr. Wily. This was when Wily had seemed to have turned good. Before the events of Mega Man 3 Hard Man was created to work in the mines along with some of the other robot masters. He was made out of the heaviest known material at that time. His main job was to smash very large boulders. He could also use his hard knuckle to break minerals out of the mind when his colleagues could not. He also was made to work construction as his durable and hard body protected him from accidents.

However, Wily acting good was a ruse. Wily had reprogrammed the other robot masters including Hard Man. Dr. Wily had him not just take over the entry of a mine but as well as the construction site around the mine. He built a base near the entrance and construction site. He would attack anybody trying to get in Wily's way.

After being turned into a guardian combat robot by Wily he became aggressive and took his job seriously. Wily needed the site to build some of his projects. Eventually Mega Man entered his base and challenged Hard Man. Hard Man was defeated by Mega Man. With Hard Man out of the way normal work could resume on the site. He has since appeared in other games usually working for Wily.

Appearance- He is a very heavy robot master. His body has been described as resembling a keg. He mostly has kobalt blue and white armor. His fist can detach when he fires his hard knuckle weapon.

Personality- It is revealed that Hard Man is not a very social robot master. However, he is fair as he likes to fight his opponents on even and fair terms. He also gets bored when there is nothing to do. He seems like sports that involve big things in it such as Sumo and football. It is hinted he also does not do more than he has to do.

Attack- Hard Man has several attacks. His main attack is to fire his fists into a powerful punch that can smash just about anything this is known as the hard knuckle. He also loves to try to collide into his opponents. Another attack is he can jump in the air and even if he misses his opponent he can cause earthquakes due to his weight.

Weaknesses- Magnet Missile disrupts his attacks and it is speculated it messes with his sensors. Due to his armor he is not really weak to anything else. On the other hand, while he is powerful he is slow. He can easily be dodged.

If the player defeats him they will get his Hard Knuckle Weapon. The Hard Knuckle not only does serious damage to enemies. But it can also be used to break certain walls that might be holding items.

Dislikes: Swimming.

He does not like swimming because due to his high mass and weight he cannot swim. In fact, he sinks in water. Him weight over 3 tons makes him one of the heaviest robot masters. This means that Guts Man and Stone Man cannot lift him. For Guts and Stone Man it is stated they can lift 2 tons.

Magnet Missile being his weakness could be due to several things. First the magnets could disrupt his censors which he uses to guide his hard knuckles. Another theory is that the magnets stick to him and disrupt his attacks. Regardless, Magnet Missile appears to be his only weakness. As I stated he is the big and powerful type, but he is also slow and can easily be dodge just don't be on the ground when he lands. Anyway this concludes the Hard Man Biography.
