I'm back with a review of an Onechanbara game! The Onechanbara games are action games developed by Tamsoft, I have a lot of experience with games made by that developer, I've played Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed, I've played Drive Girls, and more. Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers was one of the first Onechanbara games released in the american continent, and the game for the Wii is the only Onechanbara game for a Nintendo console to this day. I really like Onechabara: Bikini Zombie Slayers but it definitely has things worthy of criticism...I don't know if I'll review another Wii game someday but anyway, let's begin.

Story: Eh, it's a typical story about zombies, the game is called ''Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers'', the enemies you fight are called ''undead'' in the game and not zombies but, even in the context of the game, what's the difference? Anyway, the story, what little story it might have, works and not much else, if one plays as Reiko, one of the playable characters, the story is a little interesting because Reiko is a researcher or scientist and her role is more neutral compared to other characters in the game, and according to her narration, the undead could be a product of the Earth itself...pollution and/or protein present in the world is creating those creatures, which is an interesting possibility and she also talks about the Baneful Blood, Baneful Blood is special blood inside of the characters including the sisters Aya and Saki, the Baneful blood can react to the blood of the undead and if one with Baneful Blood is exposed to too much undead blood, it can result in an increase in strength or power, but the person in such a state only wants to fight or kill and indeed, it can result in the person losing control...well, Reiko mentions some details, and she mentions that people with Baneful Blood are only women and that the presence of Baneful Blood can result in cellular mutation...interesting stuff or lore, but for the other 3 characters there isn't much to say. Definitely a 7/10 at best, at least a 6/10.

Graphics: Like other games developed by Tamsoft, Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers looks great, it looks better than many other Wii games. Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online and Drive Girls (for example) prove that Tamsoft usually delivers when it comes to graphics, and this game is not an exception. The 3D models of the playable characters look really nice, the menus look good, and the environments look detailed at times, the game only has a few different areas connected with several maps, so, it doesn't surprise me that the environments look really nice at times, Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers looks like an early PS3 game or something, a game for PS3 released in 2006 or 2007, so, of course it looks great, it has better graphics than other Wii games. That's not all, Onechabara: Bikini Zombie Slayers runs at 60 framers per second! Like other Onechanbara games, it has a smooth framerate and it feels great to play, the framerate isn't perfect and it has moments of slowdown or framedrops if the action gets very intense, but those moments are rare and usually it runs at 60 fps without framedrops, or at least, the framedrops aren't noticeable for the most part.

Sound: A good soundtrack is all we get here, the music is good but not amazing and it works for the game. The composers would later work in the Senran Kagura games but they did a better job in the Senran Kagura games especially the games for Nintendo 3DS, Mutsumi Ishimura and Akihi Motoyama can compose great music, they have done a better job in other games. That said, I can't say that the music is bad, the electric guitar sounds like the guitar in Senran Kagura games and ''Danger in Disguise'' is a great song, one of the best songs in the game, I really like it. Something I don't like about Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers is the fact that it only has Japanese voices...the game has the dishonor of being the only Wii game I've played with only Japanese voices, other games for Wii have English voices, or voices in several languages (Klonoa for example) but not this one...meh, I hate the fact that it's a game with only Japanese voices, unlike many other games...

Addictive: An action game that should be inspired by the Dynasty Warriors games, all those zombies you fight at the same time clearly look like a scene in a Dynasty Warriors game, it's not exactly that of course and the Onechanbara games aren't considered musou games (they aren't) but they are a little similar to those games, at least the first games in the series. Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers has 4 playable characters, Aya, Saki, Misery and Reiko, each playable character feels unique and different compared to the other 3 playable characters and by pressing the C button in the nunchuk you can change the combat style, I consider the game very fun to play regardless of the character, that said, it's worth mentioning that I like motion controls, I've played many video games with motion controls and even in 2025, I openly say that I like motion controls, I really like Wii Sports, both No More Heroes games, both Super Mario Galaxy games, Sonic and the Secret Rings etc, but not everyone will like those games because not everyone likes motion controls...also, if a game that has 4 playable characters doesn't sound like much on paper, that's exactly the case, only 4 playable characters is nothing to brag about...other games developed by Tamsoft have more playable characters, Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson and Drive Girls are just 2 examples. As I said, the game only has a few areas connected with several maps, so, it's more repetitive compared to other games and it's a fact that it has less variety of environments compared to other games, enemy variety is fine but it could have more maps and lastly, something unforgivable about Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers is the fact that it has many optional quests but you don't know the details of a quest until you complete said quest...I don't know why they intentionally did that but it's ridiculous, what kind of game gives you quests or optional objectives but says ''you can't check the details until you complete the quest?'' Sure, after you complete 1 quest, you can guess that the other quests with a similar name involve the same objective, all the quests that say ''Unmarked queen'' should be ''complete the chapter without taking damage'', easier said than done depending on the chapter, but even so, it's ridiculous that the details of every quest are hidden before you complete said quests, and that is a huge flaw of this game that, along with the other things I mentioned (only 4 playable characters and not a lot of maps) make the game less fun or enjoyable than it could be...in any case, I like it a lot, but not everyone will like Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers as much as I do.

Depth: You can beat the game in 3 hours or less, finishing the game with all the playable characters should take you 13 hours at most, but then we have the many optional quests and the survival mode I haven't really played yet...yeah, it has some content and if one wants to do everything (good luck with that), definitely 20-30 hours at least. It offers some content, and the gameplay with different playable characters, points to level up or power up the characters, different combos and skills...the gameplay has more depth than one might think, and the game has some content and things to do, definitely a 7/10 at best in this category.

Difficulty: Unless one wants to do the quests that involve different objectives and maybe beat the game on Hard, Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers is an easy game, very easy actually. I always played the game on Normal difficulty and I only lost twice, I can only imagine how easy the game is if one plays it on easy, I haven't played the game on Hard, that difficulty level should be more difficult of course, but yeah, an 8/10 at most and only because of the quests and maybe the highest difficulty (unlocked after beating the game with each character).

Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers is a game I highly recommend if one likes action games and if one doesn't have a problem with fanservice and a lot of violence, all the Onechanbara games (available in this continent) are rated M by the ESRB and this game deserves its M rating, I'm sure that the same thing can be said for the other games. It's not the best game for newcomers, it's true that the story isn't the most important aspect in Onechnabara: Bikini Zombie Slayers but it's still a game with story and characters, Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers is the sequel of Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad, available for Xbox 360, if this is your first Onechanbara game (like me) you may be confused with the story and characters at first, but if that doesn't bother you, this is a great game if one just wants to have fun and kill zombies...I don't know if I'll play another Onechanbara game someday but for now, I've played Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers and I recommend it, that said, do not pay more than $950 pesos (around $45 dollars) for this game, I don't care if the game is new or used, Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers was released as a budget game and it has a price tag of $30, it was a cheap game and, well, that's what it is, a cheap game with a low budget and only Japanese voices, so, don't pay a lot of money for the game, if you can get it for a reasonable price, 45 dollars or less and the equivalent of that in any currency, I say that it's worh it. Very fun gameplay, good music and great graphics, it's a fun game and I really like it even though it has several flaws...see you next time.
