Every so often a new character comes along and takes the gaming world by storm. In the 1980's Mario and Mega Man took the gaming world by storm and have become icon. The Mario franchise and Mega Man franchise are still going strong to this day. In the 1990's we had Sonic the Hedgehog and Kirby that would also go onto to become Icons. Around 1993 a new character was introduced named Bubsy Bobcat.

Bubsy Bobcat made his debut around 1993 for the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis systems. He was dubbed the next big thing in gaming by his creators. The first game won awards, and the second game also did well. The 4th game killed the new character's franchise. However, since 2017 the series has been revived and has done well. While Bubsy did not become the next big thing in gaming. He has had his share of games, so today I thought I would do a biography about him.

Bubsy is a bobcat is a desiring and self proclaimed hero. He looks up to other heroes such as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Sonic and Mega Man. He often wants to be like them and become an Icon. Bubsy loves to speak in 3rd person. He also owns one of the world's largest yarn collections. It is revealed he has a niece and nephew. He also has two good friends a mole and an armadillo.

In his first game an alien species called the Woolies steall the world's yarn. They steal Bubsy's since he has the largest collection. Bubsy sees this as a chance to become a hero to the world and get his yarn collection back. Bubsy eventually defeats the Woolies and gets his yarn collection back. In addition, he kind of becomes a hero in the process.

In the second game a new villain Onkier Hamm steals the world's artifacts to put them at his own place. Hamm wants to to this to charge a high price for the artifacts to be viewed. Bubsy once again sees a chance to become a bigger hero. He sets out to defeat Hamm to win more praise as a hero. He successfully defeats Hamm's army and reclaims the artifacts. He is considered a hero, but becomes annoyed when people get turned off due to his personality.

The Woolies decide to capture Bubsy and take him to their home planet. He escapes capture and tries to build his own space ship to make it back to Earth. The Woolies think he is making a weapon to use against them and they try to stop him. He eventually makes it back to earth.

Years go by and the Woolies return to get even with Bubsy. In return of the Woolies. He once again defeats the Woolies. But he kind of becomes a hero again. However, he earns respect from the Woolies and they depart on peaceful terms.

In his latest appearance Hamm who was sentenced to Jail. Escapes with a new scheme. He is capturing exotic species to build his own zoo. He wants to charge customers a great amount of money just to view his stolen or captured animals. The Woolies have some of their own captured, so they call on Bubsy to help them. Bubsy helps them and imprisons Hamm once again. Except this time Hamm is going to the woolies planet in a very tough Jail. Bubsy is held a hero but people get annoyed with him once again.

Appearance- Bubsy is an orange bobcat also known as a lynx in some parts of the world. He has a typical cat like face, cat paws, and it is shown he has long claws. He wears an orange t-shirt with a large ! on his chest. In addition, he has very long whiskers.

Personality- Bubsy longs to be a hero and wants to be an icon just like Mega Man, Sonic, and the Mario Brothers. He is an oppurtunist and will pounce on any chance he can get to be recognized a hero. However, he has some flaws that can turn people off. He is a smart aleck with his jokes. He is also egocentric. Even though he has help reaching his goals he does not like to give credit to those who help him. He does not even give credit to his niece and nephews. He is said to be very sarcastic. These traits keep him from being a hero that he wants to be as people get annoyed by him.

However, despite his flaws Bubsy's heart is in the right place. He really cares for his friends even though he does not show it. When his family or friends get into trouble he springs into action to help them. He really wants to do good and be a good guy, but it seems like he does not know how to be socially. He is also shown to be very respectful at times. This is seen when he admits he respects the Woolies and they in turn finally admit they respect him.

Abilities- Bubsy has the ability to run at an amazing speed. He can also do amazing jumps. His jumps pack a punch when they land on enemies. He can also use his claws to defend himself, and his paws for digging. Since he is a cat he is an excellent climber. Moreover, he knows how to use weapons such as guns, and bow n arrows.

Moves- Bubsy can stomp on most enemies heads to knock them out. He can also use his feet and claws as weapons. He also can use technology such as devices, and fly space ships. In addition, he can use guns and bow n arrows.

Weaknesses- He is weak to spikes. If he lands on spikes they knock him out cold. Also if he takes 2 or 3 hits in some games that knocks him out.

Relationships

Friends

Niece and Nephew- He cares about them and he does not show it he welcomes them on his adventure. He dose not give them credit though. At times the brother and sister annoy him. But at the end of the day he treats them like family.

Armadillo- He is good friends with his armadillo friend. He does not show it but he cares for him. He will try to pull him out of a jam. Likewise the armadillo will try to pull him out of a jam.

Mole- He is good friends with his mole friend. His mole friend invents some of the weapons Bubsy uses.

Friend/enemies

Woolies- The woolies can be friends or enemies with Bubsy. Earlier they where enemies. However the Woolies admit that they respect Bubsy. He in turn admitted he respected them. He even sent them a book which the Woolie queens said was horrible. Although they may squire off against each other. When the Woolies need help they are not afraid to ask their rival Bubsy to help them.

Enemies

Onkier Hamm- Hamm is one of Bubsy's biggest enemies. Just due to his technology. Bubsy cannot stand Hamm due to his evil and greed. Bubsy is often the one who foils his plans. Likewise Bubsy sent Hamm to prison twice, which Hamm does not like at all, the first time was on Planet Earth. The second time he sends Hamm to prison on the Woolies home Planet.

Bubsy was a character that was well liked by video gamers. However, him being dubbed the next big thing turned some people off. The makers even did a cartoon series. Some people thought he was being rammed down their throats. That is the fault of the makers. Bubsy should have never been dubbed the next big thing. As I explained in my Bubsy article Mega Man, Mario, Kirby, and Sonic when they started they where not dubbed the next big thing. The games became popular, and the market made them.

However, Bubsy has become a respected video game character. He may not have become an icon. His games have rebounded well since his playstation game nearly killed the franchise. He is expected to get another game soon.

Bubsy is a hero who does things the right way. However, his egocentric ways, sarcastic remarks, and him not giving credit to his sidekicks keep him from being a true hero. He has a lot of faults that home him back. At the end of the day though his heart is in the right place.
