So me loosely knowing basic lore of skyrim.. The beginning dragon is Alduin is in short destroying a town and freeing the player character that can "defeat" him was by accident.

Imagine you go somewhere and something unexpectedly bad happens in the area you are in but luckily you are one of the few that lived. Terrible example but maybe that makes sense?
