That is a hard choice to make. I enjoy playing both RPG's and MMORPG's. I think it depends on which one appeals to you more and which is better to play.

RPG. MMORPGs start out fun, then get repetitive. RPGs have almost endless possibilitys and you just want to play it more then once.

Absolutely RPG. RPGs stand up by themselves, and can go much, much farther with experimentation and unique ideas and storyline than an MMORPG ever could-- which is to say that RPGs HAVE a story, whereas MMORPGs often only have a very loose one. MMORPGs are mostly all generic and every single one pretty much ends up looking exactly like the other, bar maybe one or two different, small features. Not to mention you don't have to pay monthly for an RPG-- you pay once, and you're done. You don't have to buy money or items or pets or perks either.

MMORPGs are more a business venture by companies to gain a crapload of cash on a game using a tried and true (see: boring) equation, and to make them really 'fun' you need friends, or lots of real life money to throw around.

RPGs just need your time, and they give you much more in return.

RPG all the way. I have played a few MMORPG's and have never really liked the feel of them. The only online rpg's that I have liked are the ones that are still basically single player rpg's. I'm kind of antisocial by choice most of the time, and I don't always want to hook up with someone else and go questing with them. That and I like the story lines in regular rpg's. I can sit down and play the game without having to worry about needing the latest and greatest weapon, pet, etc. that has come out to be able to fight the latest enemies that the designers have incorporated into the new update.

I pick RPG becuase the MMORPG gets to repetive with the lvling up the characters, but it is kind of fun. With the RPG games, there are different storylines and, but you don't get enough of interacting with other people.

So it is a tie, and it also depends on what you want.

That's nice, but this is the PC section so we're talking about PC games.
I pick RPGs because they are more in depth, have an actual story, don't require the internet to play and don't require interaction with other people.
You just can't say those things about MMOs and be telling the truth.
Twerty and Jimsen said it all really, and a game of Oblivion or Fallout3 beat World of Warcraft any day of the week.

Meh, untill someone comes up with an MMO that breaks the "WOW" formula (they didn't do it first, but they made it simple enough to get the most subscribers) of grinding and more grinding, RPGs will be way ahead of MMO's.

Ultimately most RPGs at the moment are MMO's with plot, using the same leveling structure. Only you don't need to pay a subscription fee, and the game has an overarching plot and emotional highs and lows. MMO's on the other hand have a fairly static playthrough, with perhaps a few highs in large PVP raids, etc. WAR online was fairly good about spreading those throughout the world, making it seem a bit more exciting, but subscription fees for plotless grinding just doesn't appeal.

While MMOs can be fun with a good group of friends I'd play a standard RPG any day for the richness of story.

I will go with an RPG anyday. like what was said, at least they have in depth storys. Ive ran in to RPGs that wernt great on graphics but had an amazig story, like Geneforge, and also as it was stated already they don't require the internet to play and don't require interaction with other people, so you dont have to stupid people trying to ruin your experience with the game. Ive ran in to tho people before who ruin a good game.
MMOs just cant live up to that.
Heck if this poll wasnt about computer RPGs then D&D is where it all starts in my opinion!

I really can't explain why I don't like MMORPGs that much. While it's a big part of the video game industry... MMORPs are like the Country music of the video game world; they're popular and some have talent... but I hate people for liking them.

I respect MMORPGs (like country, even though I can't stand it at all, hate listening to it), but it's personally not my taste at all.

I enjoy both but the main reason I play MMOs is because of the social aspect. Other than that, I'd have to go with RPGs. At least on those you don't have to deal with gold farmers. Unless it was added into an RPG........hmmm........

See what i hate about mmos, is that you have to do nothing else but play that game! what i mean is for rpgs you could go at your own place see the storyline the graphics the pwnage! but for mmorpgs you have spend all your cash for memberships and such, play with people who might hack your computer. and the connection promblems are horrible, and just downloading the game screws up your computer. and most isent even fun like take runescape for example, you have to takes days to reach level 2! while you try compete with like level 999 charcters. the only fun part of mmos is the social part, but nowadays people just down help noobs anymore. so i rather play a rpg.

I personally like RPG's because you don't have to spend days grinding to get the best gear, only to have it made into mediocre gear the time another patch comes around like some MMORPG's do. Also the storyline for the RPG is what makes the games interesting instead of social gatherings.
