If you are a fan of any game in the Monster Hunter World, then you have to have been super hyped for the release of this game. Monster Hunter World was a huge stepping stone for the series because it’s a console game, which is something that the developers haven’t been thinking of for a long time.

The last time a Monster Hunter game was made for consoles was released way back in 2009, other than that all the games were made for Nintendo and Playstation handheld systems. The handheld ones were all great, but now that the series is back on the big screen, the developers were able to make this one so much better.

GRAPHICS: 9/10

The graphics are fantastic, especially when you look at the art and animation of all the different monsters and even wild animals. Each monster is incredibly well designed and the environment always looks beautiful. The way that the monsters move is also really well done, and seem to have a better range of movement than those in other games.

SOUND: 8/10

The sound is really good. After a couple of hours of playing in the same map, I was able to hum along to the music. As for the random sounds of the world, the music and sound give off a very immersive feel, especially when monsters are attacking you, which makes the experience more thrilling than it could have been with a different style of sound. The voice acting is also really good at times.

ADDICTIVENESS: 10/10

There’s nothing about Monster Hunter that’s not addicting. It’s like any other RPG where you grind, but then there’s always so much more. The game is designed to keep you doing the same missions over and over without getting bored and based on how you explore, and the different sets of weapons and armor that you bring in, each quest will be an adventure of its own. Beyond the quests there’s also so much you can do such as cooking, fishing, and more. You would normally think that stuff like this would be a little side quest, but its not, these actions pretty much have their own fun and rewarding ecosystem that will never let you stop.

STORY: 8/10

The story starts of pretty straightforward. The entire game is based on dragons migrating to the New World and nobody knows why they migrate here. So people set up camp here to find out why and once your character arrives, you do all sorts of other little quests. It’s not about just killing monsters though, it’s just as much about studying them and their habitats, and solving various scenarios all while you go towards the big dragon picture.

DEPTH: 10/10

There’s millions of ways that you can play Monster Hunter World, and the game has so much to offer. First, you can look at the different weapons classes, for which there are more than a dozen. From there, you can upgrade and forge different kinds of weapons within each class, and each weapon has its own set of different attacks and special moves. The same goes for equipment as well as ingredients and material. Then you take into account how large each explorable area is and how many different creatures there are and you begin to realize just how big this game is, and that’s even before you take into account the insane number of quests and side missions.

DIFFICULTY: 4

The game isn’t difficult at all. If you are attacking a monster and it’s clearly killing you, all you need to do is back off and either heal or try to get hit less, or collect money and ingredients to make better weapons and armor. That’s pretty much what the game is about, the game doesn’t want you to go over the top on offense and try to kill everything right away or else the quests wouldn’t give you around an hour to complete them. The game is just as much about strategy, patience, and planning, so if you feel like it’s too difficult, just pick a different route.

OVERALL: 9.2/10

Monster Hunter World is one beautiful game and it’s what every fan was waiting for. The old handheld games were a lot of fun, and by making a new one that’s for consoles, developers were able to add so much more to it and make the game even better than its predecessors. If you are a fan of the series, than you must have the game by now or are planning to get it, but if you are just a fan of cool action adventure games in general, then this really is something that you should check out. It might be on the expensive side for now, but if you play the game the way it was meant to be played, you’re looking at hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Overall, Monster Hunter World for PS4 gets a solid 9.2.

tornadocam : Kind of surprised that you haven't heard of it really. While this specific game just came out 3 days ago, it's one of the biggest selling game series of all time, sales from this game might even push the series to top 30 all time.

It is a lot of fun, even the old ones.
