Summon Night Swordcraft   dragon111
Summon Night Swordcraft is a awesome RPG game that I really enjoy. I haven't beat this but I am really far into the game. So far I am really amazed at how this game is I have never seen a better swording game like this besides the legend of Zelda series. This game is special and I have only been playing this for about 7 hours and 42 minutes. Those were the best to me and I am making this review to show ant tell you how amazing this game is. I thin you should really try this and if you really get into it you will love it ant first before I got into fights I thought of this game as a Pokémon game then it pulled me in as I played it after I beat this I am heading for number 2 of this game. Well here is my review.
My overall rating for this game would be a 10
Why because I love this game I actually like this game better than some Pokémon games I play. I have been seeing this game a lot when I was looking for roms so I went ahead and tried this out and it's awesome.
I  put the graphic as 8
I don't think they are entirely good but I still think they are good and this game has some times where it looks really ugly. But still the game is cool and that is really all I focus on when I play games. Some games graphics bug me thought so I get off of it hack or not.
The sound I have down as 8
The sound is like sound so on almost any game I put it as 10 unless it just really annoys me a bunch like Super Mario Land. That is one Mario game I hate very much the looks and the sound I played that today and almost threw up on my screen. Those kind of games the sound bugs the crap out of me.
Addictiveness I put as 10
I really have been waiting on this moment. This game is so fun that when my mom yelled at me for not watching the kids I literally ignored her not on purpose though I was so into the game, good thing she didn't notice it though. Well I am attracted to this game as if I were in that game myself.
Well the story I put as 10 as well
As I was saying the whole time in this review the game is awesome I mean come on you gotta love it. Just read the title Summon Night Swordcraft. Very cool title to me so yeah if you are into sword games here is another one Zelda isn't the only one lol.

Dept I put as 9
This is game is pretty long to me, right now I am stuck on fighting a fire summon creature good thing that I am a water person so I can use my aqua saber and strengthen my sword when I fuse it with the water element pretty cool right. Back to the review, Well I am pretty far but not far enough I am only in the middle so when I beat this game I am gonna edit my review for more detail for this game hope you enjoyed this so far.
The difficulty on this game well to let you know it's pretty hard and I like it that way some games be way to easy. So this game can actually strengthen my knowledge in games.
Wish me good luck on this game so I can beat it hopefully I will have a much better review next time.

Sword crafting Adventure (Summon Night: Swordcraft Story)   TheAdventurer
Summon Night: Swordcraft Story (Craft Sword Monogatari) Is a Spin off game of a Japanese Exclusive Series of the same name. The game is a RPG, though unlike the game it's named after, it was made in the stylization of the "Tales of" series which is more familiar to us Americans. This game was made by Banpresto in 2003 and the English Translation of the game was produced by Atlus in 2006. How does this game do? Well lets take a look into and find out.
GRAPHICS
The Graphics for the game, while nothing really to spectacular for something that would of came out for the GBA in 2006 looks very well defined for a 2003 game. Some of the graphical effects are quite nice and take some good use of the GBA's Hardware. There are some occasional graphical hiccups when playing the game, though other than that its a pretty nice looking game, even for today's standards. That's pretty much saying something. For the Graphics, I Give it a 9
SOUND
The music in this game I believe sound pretty good and has some quite nice tunes with only a few that I didn't in particular really remember all too well. The Sound Effects are pretty nice, nothing to grating or harsh either. Yet again it's nothing spectacular since this is a Early-Mid GBA title, but it does well in what it is, so what I'll rate this game is a
9
ADDICTIVENESS
For a game of this structure, it did such a wonderous job for how much fun I had as a kid back in my younger years. I used to play this game all the time during those days, and when everything was done and completed, I was thriving for more. (Good thing the sequel came out months after, but that's for another time)
The game had a lot going for it and I usually would play the game annually and get everything unlocked. (I know it's unhealthy but don't judge me) For that alone, it
definitely deserves a 10. Though for people out there who are possibly trying this game out for the first time, let me just say this. The game might not be exactly for you, especially if you aren't too keen on "Tales of" games. Though with that out of the way, 10
STORY
Oh boy, this has got one hell of a story. Also, no spoilers will be put into here cause I don't know how to do the spoiler button of any sort as of now and I'm sure likely not going to search it up because I'm pretty lazy.
So you are the son or daughter of your Father who passed away 3 years ago and you don't know the whereabouts of what might of happened to him or what he may of been like. Though the beginning of a new day dawns and you are awoken by your mother, calling you as it's your first day into the guild and you must head your way to the meeting to hear about the tourney being held by the guilds. You are taken into the guild to be given your first Summon Creature which is made by an amulet given by your father. This Creature is now your partner and will fight by your side to help you in the many Tournament Rounds and Dungeons that'll lie ahead to become a Master Crafter! *Cough*
Anyways, great stuff. It provides a lot of context into the world you are in, and along your way, you'll meet more fellow crafters who will most likely help you along your journey. It adds a feel for where this world is and does a lot to help keep you interested on what you're trying to do. With that all said, I'm giving this a big fat
10
DEPTH
Woo, now we get into the juicy content of the game. What exactly does this game provide for the player? First off, I gotta say the Game Mechanics of this game work wonderfully and add a good amount of strategy with the added in gauge for Weapons called TEC which if depleted far enough, it'll shatter the weapon  with no real way to repair it, you'll just have to make another one of it.
With that being said, there's also a Weapon crafting system where you'll have to gather material in order to make new weapons, and the other thing is you'll have to collect recipes or Techniques as stated in the game. There are four types of synthesis material including Mystic ores which is only obtainable by few enemies and some other tasks. These will give your Weapon a element attribute usually helping or making it worse depending on Enemies elements.
Speaking of which, a variety of  enemies are able to be found in this game, even though this does have a few re-colors of other enemies, there is usually quite the big array for you to look at. This being said, there is also many different Techniques for weapons as well, and there are also five types of Weapons. The Drill, Sword, Spear, Knuckles, and Claws are different classes of weapons you can change from, each acting differently dependently.
Now besides the Main game, there is also a post game once you beat the final boss and such and you'll be able to get new things you weren't able to before, including some new techniques only able to be gotten in the new Section of the area which adds more to the dungeon for you to explore. Keeping this in mind, there was about 50 dungeons in main game and with that being said, another 50 dungeons are added, given a fresh coat of pain to distinguish them from the top 50. Like I also said, New Items and Techniques are able to be found here so look out for them.
There is also a new Time attack mode which allows you to face off against every Tournament boss, but for a small fee. This probably rubs off as easy though because you don't loose any TEC when beating a Tourney Boss, with that being said, they don't really gain a boost from their previous encounters either with just comes off as lacking, but it's a boss rush, so I don't mind it all too much, though it would of been great if they had a difficulty setting.
All in all, there is a lot of post content stuff to do and it really does do the job. Just a few minor complaints, but eh, what are you going to do? With that all in mind, I'd say this is well worth a 10
DIFFICULTY
In all fairness, The difficulty in this game was good, though at times seemed a bit... Unfair in some way. I'm not going to lie, if you don't do a tad bit of grinding in this game, you'll get yourself in a terrible amount of frustration due to one boss having too much health or your weapon breaking. Along with that, getting a random encounter isn't going to be fun when you don't have much health and you'll need to escape.
I'll give it credit though, it does appeal to newcomers for it's not all to difficult to level up. You can maybe find a few instances where you'll need to get to  a higher level, but you can't due to the lackluster amount of exp a enemy will give you, though all in all,  think they do a pretty good job balancing things out on the spectrum, especially during the middle with some Tourney bosses.
In short, at times it feels like you'll have a unfair disadvantage, but that's rare and doesn't occur too often, so for this game, I'll be giving it a 7
SUMMARY
This is a very dear game to me, one that I have kept close to me all these years and never had gotten bored of it in the slightest. The game, sure a Spinoff, I think could of been a successful game if only Atlus had released the game somewhere near the Mid-span of the GBA's library, though however, that never came to be. This game, along with two other Spinoffs of the Summon Night series were the last things released to the North American audience.
What exactly makes this game a gem is how much of an obscure game title it is, and it's a rarity for many people to hear about others talking about this game or it's two other series spinoffs, however this does really place dearly to my heart. It's more than what you call a game, it's a adventure many can enjoy and have fun with. It's got a lot of charm and I respect what it's brought us.
Although the game was the last of the GBA's lifespan, this does and will be one of the best of the system. As my final Rating, I'll be giving this game a 9.5/10

~~JUST A HEADS UP THIS REVIEW MIGHT HAVE MINOR SPOILERS SO PLEASE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED BY A BIT OF THE GAME'S CONTENT OR EVEN EXTRA CONTENT THEN REMOVE YOURSELF FROM THIS REVIEW, THOUGH IT'S NOT TOO HUGE SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. I'M NOT GOING TO SPOIL THE ENDING FOR YOU LIKE IT'S NOTHING THAT'D BE CRUEL HAHA OKAY ENJOY THE REVIEW~~
Summon Night: Swordcraft Story originally was made by Banpresto in 2003 as a Spin off game to a popular series in Japan known as... Summon Night, with this game however taking inspiration heavily based off the Gameplay from the "Tales of" series dating back to the 90's. While this game is more akin to those games, there's one feature that is completely original (In line with the name) that sets it apart from the underline mechanics that the Tales of Series set off to accomplish, however we'll get to that in a moment.
While rating quite positive during it's initial release, due to the end of the GBA's life cycle it only became a small footnote within the massive gallery of games that took place within the ganre and especially as a whole, yet many people fondly still remember the games that happened to of played it back in the day and even had gotten 2 sequels, sadly though the third being lost in translation but you can find English patches online, though not fully completed.
Enough Rambling, onto the review!
Graphics: For a 2003 GBA game they look pretty good, sure not the most top notch stuff you could find on the system though it still accomplishes a lot. Your character in battle is represented by multiple sprites all together to create one bigger sprite that allows it to better give a sense of movement and all the characters you fight as well as the enemies have their own sprite to boot, though a few recolors as typical with some JRPGs. The backgrounds for both the Overworld and the Battles are quite great, probably being the best part of the graphical presentation along side the Character Portraits that pop up when you or an NPC talks to you. The only downside I personally can see is that the Overworld Sprites look pretty basic. There's nothing too wrong with that, however given the presentation as a whole it's very underwhelming comparatively. It doesn't stick out like a sore thumb though they could use a touch up.
Sound: From what I see, a lot of people criticize the GBA's sound chip which I can see being a big issue, though a lot of games use the Sappy Engine pretty well and to Summon Night's credit, I think the same. However, they are pretty basic sounding being almost chiptune quality in their fidelity. With that being said though, that's not really a bad thing, if at all! I think the compositions more then make up for it, it's quite positively a really great soundtrack. I believe if the Sound Chip was better the pieces would be excellent, but as it stands I think what they've made is more then acceptable for the system.
Addictive: If you're into games that thrive on completion, then Summon Night Swordcraft Story is just the game for you! Not only does it have a Monster Dictionary, Not only does it have many weapons to create and even alternate versions with better stats, not only does it does it have a boss rush, but you also can do 50 extra dungeons once you complete the game! Is there anything else after you complete the game 100 percent? Sadly, no. Though you shouldn't really expect too much since it's already giving you so much after you beat the game to begin with. Honestly it's still a positively fun game to play through even after playing it through countless times! If you're into completionist type games you probably will get a kick out of this game.
Story: ~~HEY REMEMBER WHEN I SAID SLIGHT SPOILERS WELL UHHH THIS IS PROBABLY GOING TO HAVE A TINY BIT OF SPOILER STUFF IN IT SO AVERT YOUR EYES~~
In this game you're a part of a town that for a living brings in novices to work under a guild and within them also has a master to help you out with techniques for creation. You and a hundred or so others are tasked with creating your weaponry and given your own Guardian Beast who once was the Guardian Beast of your fathers and now with this knowledge you go down into dungeons to collect materiel and craft them into weapons. Along the way, you'll face many rivals who you start to befriend, but behind the scenes something has been happening to your town that has been making eruptions start to become more and more apparent to where it starts to become a frequent occurrence. As a Knight for the Silver Guild you'll find out how these earthquakes are happening and soon find out more about the truth to your father's backstory and bring peace to the world
~~OKAY SPOILERY STUFF OVER~~
The story is pretty typical JRPG Stuff, at least some of it is. It still has it's own identity in my opinion and makes for a fun story to play through. I should know, I've played this game about 10 or so times on my own.
Depth: Like I said, this does have quite a bit of content in the way of end game and also along with the (Obvious enter the title as a joke here) you'll be making plenty of Swords... and Spears... and... OKAY IT'S NOT JUST SWORDS.
The Crafting part of the game as the name imply is the biggest feature and selling point to the game. You'll be able to craft between the selection of 5 types of weapons, each with their own weaknesses and strengths. The way you'll make these are by smelting your material into elements which you'll be using into creating these weapons, though there is a few exceptions. The electricity element isn't readily available until a good chuck into the game's story when you need to create a specific weapon. After that, you'll be free to make sny weapons with that element after the fact, of course with the right material that is. There's also Mystic Ores with are somewhat very hard to come by and are how you make all the alternate versions of weapons. You can only obtain them by defeating Enemies that bear the resemblance to Armor or Weapons though they're possessed.
Weapons usually have a set of base stats
ATK: How hard your attacks Hit
DEF: How much damage is reduced when Hit
AGL: How fast you can run (includes from battle) and your attack speed
DUR: How long your weapons last before they break (And if they do, they break permanently)
TEC: A very nuanced stat, basically as it grows your weapon's DUR gets depleted less, some hits with weapons with multi-hits get more attacks in, and it's a perma-stat even if you break or sell your weapon.
You can also gain ATK, DEF, And AGL stats with accessories as well as LVL ups so keep that in mind.
Other then that, you have your typical elemental attack system, which isn't anything too out of the ordinary. Your Guardian Beast also has one of the four elements as their starting skill set and then once they level up enough they will start to earn other skills from the other elements. Along with this, you can hold up to 3 weapons in battles with certain circumstances that you have to remove 2 and only bear with 1 usually for things like tournament rounds, however that's rarely an issue.
One of the things you'll want to look out for is also when you're fighting any boss with a unique weapon of their own you can't get anywhere else, if you successfully are able to destroy their weapon then you'll obtain the technique for it. Keep in mind however, this is only for bosses with unique weapons and nothing else. Usually their weapons are completely unique and have different stats comparatively to weapons that you get normally, and how good they are can depend on how situational they can be or how high their stats are. You are also to sometimes find random techniques lying around usually though during the end game, just be sure to collect them!
One final note is that the Hot Iron Ladle is the best weapon in the game
No i'm not joking
Difficulty: It can very depending on what types of weapons you have during the game and what point you are in the game. It's hard to pinpoint though personally it's a very average difficulty around the board, save for some bosses being a pain in the neck to beat due to their high HP. Overall depending how you play the game it can be a completely different play-through for anybody to be frank.
With that out of the way, as I've played the game for multiple times and having a bit of a bias for it, under these Rose-tinted glasses I can see a perfectly fun game with it's only foil being the time it released, as by the time it was the DS already had been 2 years ahead and the GBA basically was on life support at that point. The game still is near and dear to my heart, having been a game I sought to go after at least a year or so after I beat it the last time. It's just that much fun to me. I wouldn't recommend you play this game however if you're looking for a super deep and enriching story or a absolutely difficult JRPG but for all it's worth, please check out this game. I give it a very high recommendation and consider to be one of the best that the GBA has to offer.

Summon Night: The forging RPG   justinfeena1
Summon Night is an RPG for GBA with one special feature.
Story:
In Summon Night Swordcraft Story it's about Cleru, a boy who wants to become a Swordcraft Lord like his father. And to accomplish that he is participating in a tournament, and the winner of that tournament becomes a Swordcraft Lord. He gets trained by his mentor Bron and gets stronger with each fight and the help of his friends. At the beginning the story seems to be very flat but then al of a sudden there's a spirit from the past which controls some of the characters and which wants to destroy the City of Swords, Wystern. The story starts of slowly and is developing but it never really captured me.
Gameplay:
As disappointing the story is as better is the gameplay. As a son of a Swordcraft Lord you are able to forge weapons. And that's the great thing about Summon Night: there are five types of weapons (sword, axe, spear, knuckle and drill) and you go to your master Bron and he will teach you some new techniques with each type of weapon. And when you have the necessarily materials you can forge the weapon and use it. This forge-feature is something very creative and something I haven't seen in any other game. And this feature is the best about the gameplay, in my opinion. You're just walking around in one city, Wystern, and when you get to another city you can't do much but buy and sell things and talk to people. And you just got 3 or 4 different dungeons in the whole game. You've got your labyrinth in Wystern which consists of 50 floors and you have the 2 or 3 dungeons besides that one; and that's something disappointing, because you're walking through the labyrinth almost all the time. When you're fighting you're in a 2D perspective which looks cool by the way, but the fights itselves are not very challenging not even the boss fights. When you know the pattern of the enemies it's easy to win the fight. But in the end I liked to fight even they are very easy and, of course, you get experience and you're character, Cleru, is getting stronger and stronger.
Graphic/Dungeons:
The graphic itself is good and there are good looking anime characters. The City of Swords looks good and has a nice almost steampunk-like style. The other 2 or 3 cities on the other hand are just boring and got nothing interesting. The same with the dungeons: the labyrinth almost always looks the same and the other few dungeons are almost exactly the same except the colours.
Sound:
The sound is the most disappointing thing. The music is okay and got nice tunes but I just heard 3 or 4 different of them. And the worst is that your hearing the music of the city Wystern almost all the time and that can be annoying.
Conclusion:
Summon Night Swordcraft Story has many mistakes such as the few cities, the same looking dungeons, a flat story,  a music with just a few different tunes and easy fights but in the end it's a game you don't regret playing. The fights are easy but because of the perspective kind of cool and the weapon forging is something very interesting and unusual.

A really great game   Zephy
This game is really impressive. This was the first time I've ever seen this game. I was really surprised. The first thing that caught my attention was the graphics. So, I decided let's give this game a chance. I found that this game is very creative in given players a lot of different types of weapons to use in combat. It was also very interesting that you have to create your own weapons to do so. This game is also good at the fact of if you really want to get ahead in the story you have to a diverse weaponry in order to combat against the various weapon types. The story was also good in that captured my attention and it honestly kept me to play it more and more. The other interesting part was having a partner help you on making weapons and such and granting certain abilities depending on the partner.

I actually started out with the second game and after i beat that I moved on to this one. Both are pretty damn fun. The second game's forging system gave me less trouble, though.

Love this game. It is somewhat simple, but can become a major issue towards the end. I've had three great weapons, and still have to finish off the Post game final boss with my hammer.

well nice, make the first boss firgin ipossible to beat without leveling up for three hours, seeing as no matter what he attacks when you let your block go and he blocks as soon as you attack and your wepon always breaks before you get a chance to beat him
