"Nintendo's favorite mascots duke it out once more, this time with a new concept!"   sonicthehedgeho..
2 and a 1/2 years after the released of a critically acclaimed game Smash Bros was released on the Nintendo 64 and it brought some of our favorite characters from the splendid series released to the public by Nintendo, and in 2001 we received a lovely titled and addition to this series known as Super Smash Bros Melee. We've once again begun an adventure through many worlds in order to rid the darkness clogging up this game's lifestyle due to the evil villain known as Master Hand who has come back from the depth of the earth waiting to meet the skilled fighters from before, but just like with the characters he's also received some upgrades from before both in movement and fighting abilities! Can we really make this work out, will we put aside our differences from the other tactical fighters released to the battleground? Or all we just doomed to fight forever in a vicious melee like in the Roman times? Seems like we'll find out answer if we just move ahead so let's get going!

                                                           Stage 1 - Vizzed's Humble Kingdom
Graphics: 8 out of 10
In case it's not clear from the past game or images from this one like you may have checked out already, the graphics have always been very simplistic when compared to other games on either system so they obviously won't received a huge score if you look at a different games such as Mario Sunshine...Pac Man World 2...or even Sonic Adventure DX. Although the scenery of the backgrounds are very well detailed compared to it's predecessor which does deserve a bit more praise towards the graphics since it does show a very nice and smooth progression from N64 to the GC some examples are: Hyrule Castle's stage which has ancient pillars from the famous series (with little triforce symbols etched into the grains of stone) and an underground portion of the level with dirt flooring alongside a attached podium to the side probably what it'd look like if Ganon took over. Another good example could be Mute City which is Capt Falcon's Main stage of residence, a scrolling level with the background set from the F-Zero games with the same stage name which does look pretty nice especially for this game series. Now let's take a quick look at the character models in this game which I believe have improved quite alot since Link looks more so like himself from Ocarina of Time than before where his model looked alot like the Beta version of Ocarina of Time's Link, don't believe me just yet well here's another example then a new character that was added into this game which was Peach and let's just say she looks 20x better than how she did in Mario 64 or Mario Kart N64 so that's another plus to this games graphics are definitely more than passable!
Speaking about graphics there's something interesting you can do if you change the language to Japanese and look at the collection screen underneath the trophy section, now take a quick look  at the back of the room where you'd see the older consoles (NES, N64, Exc.) most of them will  now be changed to their Japanese Counterparts and you'll also find a Virtual Boy in the corner of the screen, pretty incredible and really sweet easter egg if you ask me. All of this combined  leads me to give the graphics and 8 out of 10!
Sound: 10 out of 10
This is going to be another one of those "Do I really have to say anything" moments because the music selection in this game is just too good for my ears and there's a large collection of different songs as well both old and new. Not many people talk in the game so the sound effects wise won't have much importance unless we count smash moves and the announcer that plays during the beginning of a stage or Bonus Area. Moving on though let's talk about some examples on why I like the music in this game for example alot of people consider the Metal Mario stage to be a great fight with the music so perfectly fitting for the previous game, well this game's version of that theme is more so a rock and echo type song which I like because unlike before he's not exactly as strong as he was in the original game so a more fast paced and rock version fits it alot better. The second theme I'd like to discuss is a more relaxing and peaceful tune which plays in only one certain area in the game, which is the resting place for the All-Star Mode, with its nice piano melody and swift changes in range it makes honestly just picture this: you have just beaten three tough enemies and then you have the chance to peacefully sit on the grass near the fountain while looking up at the sky as you try to rest from your previous battle. Now since I shall be ending this soon my last example will be the alternate main menu theme, which sounds like a celebratory and interesting theme as well why is that you ask (because you need to unlock all characters in order to have this song play a % of the time) however if you don't want to do it that way you can just hold L & R to make it possibly switch. So all in all I'd say the sound deserves a solid 10 out of 10!
Addictiveness: 10 out of 10
Now here's the interesting part about this series and the reason why is because each one of them has their own separate reasons for it's high addictiveness and replay-value. Just so that way in case you don't know much about the previous entry into the series I'll update you right now, basically what made the N64 Smash Bros game so great was that not only was it a brand new idea but in the actual gameplay your Punches and Kicks were Very Strong not mentioning how great the throw attack was as well. So that's what made that version great well what does this version do that makes it nice and enjoyable? Alright I'll tell you just don't "Smash" by head off, basically this game does lower the attack power that you had from before however; with this downside they did give you a different greatness which is Speed and I mean alot of it! If you remember how the running was originally kind of sluggish well they fixed that in this game (only certain characters can't run well, usually heavy characters) and if I may so something it's that you probably should practice a little big beforehand since getting used the fast speed can take a while but you should be able to get the hang of it. On a final note this game offers a different playthrough in the Classic/1P Section known as Adventure Mode: which basically takes mostly the main characters level appearance at makes you go through a normal stage like if you  were to play Super Mario World or Sonic The Hedgehog (Minus Sonic's speed of course xD) and then put you into a normal Smash Bros fight with the main character of the level you just played through to put it into perspective Hyrule would = Link followed by Zelda, now like I said mostly you'll do this and sometimes you'll just go into a fight like you will with the Pokémon stage.
What else makes this game highly addictive right? Well the additions of several characters is nice especially considering that "certain" characters weren't supposed to make the US cut of the game AKA Marth and Roy from Fire Emblem which you have to unlock them both. One complaint I do hear alot about this game is the fact that some characters are about the same like: Link and Young Link or Dr.Mario and Mario but honestly I find them to be nice throwbacks to older games like Ocarina of Time and well Dr. Mario on the NES haha but I guess that's true for some players in this game I still don't think it's big deal though. Either way I really need to wrap this up so I'm going to leave this section with my score of a perfect 10 out of 10!
Story: N/A
Just like before there isn't really any story to this game just like the predecessor on the N64 so I can't really rate this as much as the other sections, although to be perfectly honest I actually kind of prefer this game not having a main story since I don't think there really is a great story to fit this game series. Unless it started off with a story or was made to have a story I think it should remain the way it was originally intended, if I had to make something up like before it'd probably be something along the lines of: "The evil Master Hand has returned from the darkness of Final Destination in order to wreak havoc on the smashful residents of this world. He's even made carbon copies of each character in this wonderful land in order to destroy and gain complete dominance of the world, so it's time for the hero of hyrule Link, the Mushroom Kingdom warrior Mario, or even the Space Avenger Fox Mcloud to subdue this evil villain once again...This of course just being made up on my own part from what given to you in the game so unfortunately I still have to leave the score at a N/A rating.
Depth: 9 out of 10
If you remember how I said that I wished the first in this Smash series had added into it, well this game adds A TON of more content. As you read above in the addictiveness section there is a new adventure mode added to this game that has 12 area's in which 5 of them have a linear running/adventuring section while the other 7 are basic fighting matches with 2 acts which is really nice and have secrets within them a perfect example of this is: beating the Kirby Team in the Green Greens stage in 30 seconds or less and you'll fight a huge Kirby, another well known secret is the special final boss characters at the end of both Classic and Adventure mode which are the newest addition to the Master Hand Family known as Crazy Hand and Giga Bowser wherein you can fight Crazy Hand by defeating Classic Mode on Normal or higher without continuing and you can fight Giga Bowser by defeating Adventure Mode on Normal Difficulty or Higher also in under 18 minutes. Seem's pretty basic like before right? Well they also included stadium events such as Home Run Contest (where you smash a sandbag and see how far it goes) Target Test, and Multiman Melee in addition to specific event matches included in One Player Mode so that will give you alot of time to put into this game. Also there are many stages in multiplayer section as well, stretching across from completely newly made area's...Old stages from the previous game redesigned or kept the same...and even one older idea for a stage (Flat Zone because it's a Game & Watch system) which a nice old style touch to the game if you ask me.
Now normally I would end this off but there's ONE last thing I'd like to talk about, I know this is going on for a long time but this could be helpful for some of you whom have this game and are having a hard time on the event matches/multiman melee/or even just wanting to have fun in Multiplayer. This is how to become Master Hand (this is legit in everyway I know it sounds fake) take any controller and put it into the 3rd slot and for the first player mode go to were the create name place is and go onto the new name but only put the cursor there now hold down B and as soon as it starts to go back press A on the new name slot and you should be in the game as Master Hand (DON'T USE IN ANY OTHER PLACES THEN WHAT I MENTIONED ABOVE OTHERWISE IT'LL FREEZE). If you want to play in multiplayer with Master Hand as well for fun you can do the same steps as above just make sure this time you have someone else hit the Back button while you do the same steps listed above. I really need to end this though so I'll leave my score with a 9 out of 10 for it's depth.
Difficulty: 7 out of 10
For sections like this on a game where you can actually chose the difficulty I'd rate it a 5 however; Melee actually can be a difficult change for players of the first game whom are used to more power and not much speed so they could either A - fall down of the stage alot due to not being adjusted to the speed, or B - get defeated easier due to the computers fast and quick reaction times compared to before so that's one of the reasons why I'd rate the difficulty higher. The second and really final reason is the last bosses of the Classic and Adventure Mode which I described above as going through the entire classic/adventure mode on normal or higher can be difficult due to reasons that I mentioned above and the fact that now you have to fight 2 Hands instead of just one or VIA Adventure mode you have to fight a gargantuan sized and more powerful version of bowser so be very cautious and try to keep at least 2 lives near the end since you'll need it! Not much else I can really say here so I'll leave of my score for the difficulty part of the review which is a nice and fair 7 out of 10!
We've reach the final peak at the end of this bloodshedding road, and have come to the Villian's stronghold...this will be our Final Destination to the road ahead of us and it's in our hands to seal this dark evil once again. It's time to put the path of justice back into it's rightful place and restore the peace that was once surrounding this peaceful land,
*Player 1 draws blade* there's only one thing left to do and it's to face off against this dark evil! This is sure to be an enticing fight as we'll be bearing alot of weight onto our shoulders, it's going to be a dangerous attack but let's go...It's time to bring this Melee to and end!

Super Smash Bros. Melee   Mario0908
Super Smash Bros. was a fighting game for the Nintendo 64. It was a good game because it was addicting and difficult. Super Smash Bros. Melee is a different story, but not in a bad way. It was a good game with loads of new characters with new attacks. So let's brawl! Oh wait, that's the wrong game.
The graphics in this game are ok, I just sometimes feel like the characters look a little like a cartoon. They just look too bright. It might just be my TV. After a long look, I do think this game is good on it's 3D effect. I paused and took a good look at Yoshi's Island and it looks good. The area Big Blue looks just a little bit bright on my TV. But in Jungle Japes, I think the look of the water is really outstanding. Plus, if you look in the window you see Cranky Kong doing random things in his cabin.
Sound is this game is good. I would say that most of the sound is actually taken from the Nintendo games. But fighting sounds are good. By that I mean the sounds you make when you're hitting someone. Sound really was amazing I guess.
The addictiveness of this game is that you will stop playing after a while. I have never played this game for more than an hour and a half. It is an outstanding fighting game, it just doesn't get too addicting unless you're fighting level nine AI, or doing the final challenge.
I will not stop trying the final challenge for a while. I even thought I beat it once, but that was a dream. Anyways, this game is addicting, just not addicting to the point where I would play it for 3 hours.
There is no story for this game, I do not know what the whole deal is with the giant hand is though. But that's not the point, there is no story for this game.
This game has so many unlockable characters and so much to do to get all of them. For the last character you need to complete target smash with every character except for him. The character you unlock by doing this is Mr. game and watch. There are also many trophies to unlock. Trophies are things you collect during your adventure and by using the lottery. There are so many trophies, kirby hat 1-5, kirby ball, blue falcon, and many more.
This game is difficult if the AI is on level nine difficulty. But it's not impossible, I have done it before. What is especially hard is the final event. Not only do you fight Master Hand, but you also fight his friend Crazy Hand. It is extremely difficult since it takes a long time to take them out and you're fighting them both at the same time. There is no way that I can figure out how to defeat them.
Super Smash Bros. Melee is a great game for multiple people. It's a much better challenge that way. So you should try this game, it's really good.

Super Smash Bros. Melee Review   tgags123
Get ready to smash it up with 14 characters (and 11 secret characters) from your favorite Nintendo games! This is Super Smash Bros. Melee!
Overall (9.8)
Super Smash Bros. Melee was my favorite game to play on the GameCube. It is a fun game that features 25 characters, 29 stages, and tons of items from a variety of Nintendo games. You and up to three other players or computer controlled characters are placed into a stage and have to battle it out. You can use various punches, kicks, special attacks, and items to try to knock your opponent off the edge of the stage, while attempting to keep yourself on.
Graphics (10)
The graphics in this game are very good. I like the graphics in all GameCube games, but Super Smash Bros. Melee has outstanding graphics. The characters, for the most part, are well detailed and aren't pixely or pointy like a lot of video games. The stages are designed just like the games that they are based off of. Everything is well designed and has the same look as the game that it is from.
Sound (10)
Super Smash Bros. Melee has almost every music track from every Nintendo game. Each stage is equipped with the music from its game. The music that is chosen fits the stage very well. The menu music is very catchy as well. The sound effects in this game are awesome. A lot of games use the classic beeps boops and buzzes for attacks and such. But not Super Smash Bros. Melee. Each attack has it's own sound. Kicks sound like kicks, sword attacks have that sword sound, etc. Every attack (whether it is a normal attack or an item) has a sound effect that fits it perfectly
Addictiveness (10)
Super Smash Bros. Melee is probably the most addictive game I have ever played. I still play it a lot on my GameCube. It is a lot of fun and there is a lot to do and a lot of stuff to unlock. I will definitely play it again, and if once you start playing, you will not want to stop.
Story (N/A)
There is no actual story. There is a background that it is all a kids imagination, the characters are action figures, and Master Hand is the kids hand, but that is all.
Depth (9)
There is a lot of things to do in this game. You can try to unlock every character, try to unlock every stadium, try to get all of the trophies, etc. There are a lot of different game modes that you can play. There is the regular Melee mode, which is just a fight between you and other players or you and computer controlled players; Classic mode, a challenging single player mode where you fight a lot of enemies, complete a bunch of puzzles, and battle Master Hand; Adventure mode, another challenging single player mode were you travel through the different locations from different games (Mushroom Kingdom, Kongo Jungle, Hyrule, Brinstar, Green Greens, Corneria, Pokemon Stadium, F-Zero Grand Prix, Onett, Icicle Mountain, Battlefield, and Final Destination) and fight Master Hand at the end; All-Star Mode, where you battle every character at there stage and you can only heal yourself three times; Event mode where you can try to beat special events under special circumstances; Target Test, where you can try to clear each characters unique "Break the Targets" stage; Home Run Contest, where you try to hit a Sandbag as far as you can; 10 Man Melee, where you try to KO ten computer controlled Wire Frame characters as fast as possible; 100 Man Melee, where you try to KO 100 computer controlled Wire Frame characters as fast as possible; 3 Minute Melee, where you try to KO as many Wire Frames as you can in three minutes; 15 Minute Melee, where you try to KO as many Wire Frames as you can in 15 minutes; Endless Melee, where you try to KO as many Wire Frames as possible without getting KO'd, Cruel Melee, which is the same as Endless Melee, only there are no items, the Wire Frames are harder to KO, and it's easier for you to get KO'd; Tournament Mode, where you and up to 63 other players and/or computers compete; and Special Melee where you can battle with special rules.
Difficulty (8)
I wasn't really sure how to rate this. The difficulty really depends on the game mode and the options that are used. There are 5 difficulties that can be used, Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard, and Very Hard. The names say it all. If you play on Easy it will be easy, but if you play on hard it will be hard. I decided overall it's a pretty difficulty game, so I rated it an 8.
I definitely recommend playing this game. There is so much that you can do. It is a lot of fun and has a lot of influence from other Nintendo games. If you like Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, Star Fox, F-Zero, Metroid, or any of the other Nintendo games, I recommend trying Super Smash Bros. Melee out.

A smashing awesome time!   RedHotToddy
Man, So many games, so little time! It seems that out of all of the games I have reviewed on the vizzed board, I have reviewed good games! I have reviewed bad games! And I have reviewed downright mediocre games! But this one is not any of the above! In fact, this game can be called amazing, It can be called astonishing! It is all of those things combined! But anyways, what is this game right here that I speak of? Well guys, remember that game I reviewed for the N64 called super smash brothers? Well, today I am reviewing the smash hit sequel to the awesome fighter! Yeah, This is super smash brothers melee for the nintendo gamecube! This is my second modern review on vizzed and one of the many more to come! But you know, Let's get this game started shall we?
Story-5/10
The smash brothers games are't really known for having an actual story to them let alone just watching the intro video of them, But It seems that if you watch closely in the intro video of the very first smash brothers game, It seems that all of this is from a kid's imagination! Hence the big giant glove and the action figures and the characters of themselves, But anyways! Smash brothers game do not really need an actual story to them, But It would be funny if they did! But as we were saying, On to the actual game!
Gameplay-9/10
Super smash brothers melee is probably one of the biggest fighting games I have ever ever played in my life! This is a fighting game where you pick out one of many famous nintendo characters and then you pick out a fun and furious stage to fight on, And well, you and three other computer players beat the snot out of each other! The controls for this game are pretty simple, You use the control stick to move and jump, You use the A and B buttons to punch and launch out all sorts of powerful attacks! There are alot of game modes to choose from, And they are as followed! There is the 1 player mode where you can play stuff by yourself, And there is the versus mode which is the main bulk of the game! But I forgot to explain the modes within them! In 1 player mode, You can play the classic mode, where you proceed through a story like adventure defeating opponents as you progress, There is the adventure mode that Is just like the classic mode but more serious and longer, And there is all-star mode where you pick a character and defeat all the other characters of the game in progress! The modes are very easy and simple to jump into, But where was I? Oh yeah! The VS/Multiplayer mode! Here you can grab three other friends and have a smashing good time with everybody! The game features alot of brand new characters for the Brawl, You got Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Link, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Bowser, And so on! The VS mode can be played in many ways possible, You can play with a time limit where whoever has the most kills by the time runs out wins, You can play stock mode where you have a certain amount of lives before you are elminated, and so on! The new modes here are tons of fun and offer alot to them then they did in the last game! Lastly, the game features a tons of new and old places from all of the game universes, You got princess peach's castle, You got the depths of brinstar, You got yoshi's island, and there are even some stages from the previous N64 game returning! Anyways, That is It for the gameplay!
Graphics-9/10
This game was released as a launch title for nintendo's brand new console, and for what It is worth, This has got to be without a doubt one of the best looking games I have ever played and layed my eyes on in the gamecube's lifetime! The game's opening however is what really really caught my eye, The amazing CGI and animation that Is! But anyways, The game still looks really good and just an eyeful to look at! Let's get to the actual stages and such, And boy are they fun to smash through and explore, There are the roofs of princess peach's castle where there are tons of platforms and every once in a while that darn bullet bill keeps arupting off of the roof, There are the big scary depths of planet brinstar where samus' enemy kraid runs amok smashing everything, There is the fast paced world of mute city where cars and planes and such zoom by like nobody's business, and so on! Now for the characters, and boy do they look amazing! Mario and luigi are the world's favorite plumbers in red and green, Peach is looking as beautiful and charming as ever, Captain falcon is looking buffer and buffer with his trademark jumpsuit, Pikachu is quick and steady and ready to conquer the battlefield with his lightning themed attacks, and many more! The HUD in each match is pretty self explanatory, You have you character's icons and such and their amount of damage. Nothing much! But that Is It for the graphics!
Sound-10/10
Upon starting the game, you are greeted with some really really epic sounding music that just overall sounds like something taken from a movie! This is in the intro though, and It helps you prepare for the whole entire game! But anyways, The soundtrack in this game is filled with tons of remixes and such of songs from all the characters' respective games, For example! The princess peach's castle level has a beautifuly sounding remix of the original super mario brother's theme. The icy mountains of ice climber has some really chilly and COOL sounding peppy music that helps you concentrate on getting to the top of the mountain, and so on! I think I used to have the game's actual CD, But I don't remember anymore! Too bad! Now onto the sound effects! They are as what you would expect from a fighting game of this time! You get pows, smacks, booms, whacks, booshs, and well, Yeah! Now for the actual voice acting, Every character in this game has a very cool and collective voice (Most likely charles martinet's act as Mario!) But all the characters have some solid voice work, Luigi's voice is quite high, Mario's is as italian as you can get, Captain falcon's is manly and overall awesome, and while all that, It can get A LITTLE annoying having to hear the same old grunts cries and sounds everytime through, But It is now problem! Because this Is a fighting game!
Addictiveness-10/10
You can see why this game has been critcally acclaimed as one of nintendo's best in four player action! And I really agree! The game has so much to It that you just can't put It down at all! I mean, just look at how many game modes and stuff the game offers for you! This game will most likely last you through the entire holiday season! (2001 that was) But yeah, Beating the snot out of all of your opponent's in my opinion has never ever gotten old for me, and that Is the point of smash brothers games!
Depth-10/10
Ah yes, The depth factor of this game, When It comes to games like this, you know that I am going to rate the game high and I say very high here! But yeah, The game offers over 4-8 distinct play modes, But the main kicker here is the multiplayer! Here, you can play with three other friends and beat each other up! But yeah, well, The game offers classic mode, Adventure mode, Vs mode, tournament mode, All star mode, It is a fighting game fan's all time dream! Oh yeah, I haven't mentioned this, But the game also offers a bunch of trophies to collect as well! These trophies are usually things or such based off of all the game series in this game, And they are actually really fun to collect! Helps give the game more length then usual!
Difficulty-5/10
Now to be completely fair with you here, The game isn't really that challenging! I mean, the game does let you adjust the difficulty levels of CPU's and such, And heck! When playing classic mode and such, You can adjust the difficulty level from very easy to very hard! But If there is one thing that has bothered me for my whole entire childhood, It would have to be the fight with giga bowser at the end of adventure mode! Once you reach the end of adventure mode on normal mode or higher without using ANY continues, You will fight a huge mutated version of bowser himself! He is hard, So be careful! But If you are good at fighting games or such, Then this game shouldn't give you ANY trouble at all!
Overall-10/10
No explanation needed, You absolutely must buy this fighting game! It is without a doubt one of the best fighting games on the nintendo gamecube and I am pretty sure that all of you guys on the vizzed board will all agree so! I gave this game a 10 because It is fun. challenging, and the multiplayer Is without a doubt the highest point of this whole entire game! So yeah guys, you already know! Buy this game now! So anyways, This has been RedHotToddy's 122nd review, and well, See you guys later or tommorow in my 123rd review!

[GET READY]
Super Smash Brothers... MELEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Yep, I'm still around. Remember back in 1999, fans got so excited when the first Smash Bros came out? That game was fun, although the controls were weird for the controller button layout. Doesn't matter anyways, because that is where the series started.
Then, this comes in. At the E3 2001 trailer, everyone freaked out when they saw Samus and Ridley battling each other in the trailer. Everyone at E3 2001 who was watching also screamed for Zelda and Sheik. Especially Zelda. So what happens when you mix many Nintendo favorites into a fighting game? Well, you get something like- MELEE!
With 14 characters to duke out with, (and other surprise characters) this game gave everyone the best of the best.
Graphics - 10/10 A+
This was the second game to ever be released on the Gamecube, and this game shows the true power of the Game Cube's graphical quality. The characters and everything look hundreds better than brawl, no offense. So smooth, makes me want to hug someone like Kirby. *love* ^w^ Oh, where do I begin with the extreme graphics. It's like a real version of the Wii U's HD quality, but 12 years earlier than the Wii U came about.
Sounds - 10/10 A+
This game has got real love for the variety and amazing sound track quality. My favorite soundtracks are Multi Man Melee, Pokemon Stadium, and the remixed Melee opening sequence. Not much else to say, but jeez, that quality. ;) The game even has created CDs of live orchestra tracks from Melee because of the popular sound tracks. Brawl ruined them all by thinking they were more epic, but it made sound like Smash 64: Minus Edition.
Addictiveness - 10/10 A+
I could've gave a 15 rating if I could, because this game really has creativity behind it. The many things you can get, the new addition of trophys, and then there's the highly-loved-now-dying competitive scene which has gotten tons of popularity from people around the world. Brawl was fun, but once Nintendo shut down their Wifi connection servers, the game became garbagier than poop. I'm sorry, there's nothing more fun than having no one to play with for 6 months while waiting for Smash 4 to hit the Wii U. Smash 4, I'm waiting for U.
Depth - 10/10 A+
Where do I begin? We have the characters that could be unlocked, the variety of secret stages, the different game modes, the possible combos, including infinite variety of possible theories for TAS/AR Fox tech skill, etc. Each character has their own movesets, except for some clones. With their signature specials, and their kick attacks are somewhat the same around everyone. They are NOT to be Spammed. There are so many menu options that it is normally uneccessary to list:
Only the important options will be listed.

The game has tons of things to be discovered that you will spend weeks trying to find every last bit of what has to be found! Good luck!
Story - N/A
There isn't exactly a plot for the main game, but the classic mode involves Master Hand, adventure involves Bowser, and the final event matches. Here is a fake theory about what would happen when trying to find a clear document of the game's story:
Checking for story.txt in Super_Smash_Bros_Melee.
...
ERROR: Can't find story.txt for Super_Smash_Bros_Melee
Difficulty - 9/10 Actually a bad thing.
Aside from the game's awesome stuff, it all ends when the AI of Melee is taken into consideration. The AI solely fights by constantly approaching while never dashing over to their target, and then procedding to jab spam, grab, or nair if their target is above. They always underuse recoveries such as Luigi, and Ness. May seem easy to exploit against stupid level 1-3 CPUs, just wait until you fight level 7-9 CPUs! They will spam you and combo in every which way, from getting smashed, to getting gimped, to being read by the AI with their KO ability, to being jabbed out of your extreme approach, to being grab spamming upon sheilding, and then getting taunted to a bigger extent than Brawl's AI.
...My, god. >_O The AI only follows the most basic things that they are told to do, and trying to hack to edit the AI to be better will guaranteed a training mode AI. There's nothing you can do. All you have to do to end up beating them without them getting you is to spam, basicly, or fight them head on if you can actually beat level 9's without spamming and without getting into a CPU trap.
Brawl's AI actually has a challenge if you aren't ready to experience Pikachu and Luigi owning you at level 9. The AI will gang up on you in FFAs in lockstep, they all use their final smashes on you, and they will always taunt you in groups no matter what happens to you. I have a few threads created just for showcasing the AI. Here they are if you want to see them.

http://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=76733 Artifical Brilliance thread
It's true... the AI can actually do things that human pros can do, abelt very rarely.
Overall - 9.7 A+
This game is just ridiculous, with the variety of characters, the stages, the competitive scene, trophies, and even the combo variety of true strings of inescapable hits, this is a game you never want to miss. If it wasn't for the AI, this would've been a perfect 10. Still gets an A+ anyways. ^_^
                 THE END
"Wow, incredible!" - Melee, 2001
Also, the camera mode allows you to do more than pictures. It allows people to make Melee machinimas. I've done one myself via Youtube Capture trimming. :)
