UPDATE: The developer answered some questions I asked, and it turns out that the game can be played in single player mode and offline, so it isn't an MMO, and there will be no micro transactions. Ignore those comments in my post below.

So I just found a post about this game, Astraea, on the PlayStation blog. Please, check it out before replying as I might miss some important information here while describing it. And if anyone misses it, the game's name is a clickable link.

Basically you build your own town. You do everything from planting crops and courting NPCs á la Harvest Moon, to constructing buildings and even decorating them á la Animal Crossing (or perhaps almost Minecraftish, but I assume you won't be building block by block here). You can also have up to seven friends visit your town at one time, and they can help you build or participate in mini games and competitions that you set up.

So I'm seeing an MMO Harvest Moon/Animal Crossing mash up? If so, this has promise! I do hate the fact that you have energy, as that screams timers and micro transactions (for instant refills) to me. I'm not feeling this like I would, say, a new Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons or HM/SoS clone on PlayStation, but it looks like it could have potential to at least be something interesting. Not to mention I used to daydream about what it would be like if we could play Harvest Moon with players controlling all of the characters; so basically a Harvest Moon MMO, but this was back when HM 64 was either still new or unreleased as yet. This could be the closest I'll ever get to that since "Harvest Moon for everyone" was Japan only and has been long since canceled.

Eirinn : The moment I saw that picture I right away though of Animal Crossing. The game looks really cool, this is something that I want but since it's just on PS4 I won't be able to play it. if only it would come out on PS Vita and PC, then I would be able to.

zanderlex : I believe it's PS4/PC. Also the developer answered some questions I asked them on the blog, so we now have some more info:
1. This is not an MMO, as it can be played in single player mode and even offline.
2. And this is the big one: it's going to be $14.99 - $19.99 (probably) and it will have no micro transactions Woot! xD I'm sold.

takeo masake : Nice picture. Also as I told zanderlex, it's been confirmed that the game is not an MMO and has no micro transactions thankfully. So yeah, Harvest Moon/Animal Crossing mash up looks like.

This game looks promising to me. I love Harvest Moon and also like Animal Crossing, so yeah. I wonder if it will be on Steam, as well.

Nice, i love all of those statements, being able to play offline is huge, the price sounds amazing, and if it does end up being on PC, then I will make sure that I get it when I get a chance.

This looks really fun. I love all games like this! I will have to add this to the list of most wanted games I also love harvest moon and animal crossing they are both fun so great combination.

This game looks quite interesting to play and I would play it if it were to be on Steam. It is pretty cool to see both Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon in a mix (because maybe they had an indirect truce ).

SUX2BU : You're welcome! I know that we (sorta) met over an FoMT thread, and that you had that totally awesome userpic of Thomas getting some sense knocked into him in MFoMT for a while, so I figured you would find this intriguing at least.

As for Steam, I'm not sure but I know the game will be digital only and Steam would be the most obvious move there. Honestly I would be shocked to see it not hit Steam. Hopefully they go the extra mile and allow cross play between PC and PS4, as that would really open up the community.


zanderlex : Awesome! And like I told SUX, I'm hoping they make it cross play between PC and PS4 like some other devs have been doing recently. If they do I'm definitely hitting all of you up with visit requests. You must help me build my town, for free! }:3


Bintsy : Well it goes without saying how much I love Harvest Moon, but I've only played a few minutes worth of Animal Crossing (New Leaf, I believe) so I can't speak to that end, but I do think that this mash up has a lot of potential. I'll be sure to pick it up when it releases next year, assuming I have internet then of course. And you must come visit my town when I do. xD


ghostfishy : I know, right? Both games shared some elements and a certain feeling, but now to see someone mix those two recipes AND throw in trophies? I'm a happy gamer. :')

And I'm fairly certain the PC release will be on Steam, but that's all me talking as I haven't heard one way or the other from them yet. I'll be looking on their website later to see what I can find out though.

Eirinn : Don't worry, ill do it for free, but for a charge! You said you've been talking to them, right? So why don't you just ask them if there will be some sort of a cross play thing?

zanderlex : My apologies if I wasn't clear enough; I only asked them the first questions in a post on the PlayStation blog. That's the first time I've gotten an answer from a developer (though it it's common for them to answer questions), so I doubt I'd be able to get anything else out of them on it. They did tell another person that they were contemplating a Vita version for it though, and cross play between PS Vita and PS4 would seem very likely.


endings : How could I have forgotten? *facepalm* Well hopefully it appeals to you. I need all of the friends I can get to pick it up.


Bintsy : What's really good is that I thought it might sound that way when I was typing it. xD That would be a bit too much work for a round of multiplayer. But it does support split screen play!
