Alright, this is an account I've made up to ask for some help. I am aware I am not supposed to make duplicate accounts, but I've been trying to log in my account for over three hours now, and because I wasn't logged in, I couldn't ask for help on the boards, private message someone that could help, or enter the chat. 

   This is F. Starr.

   I've cleared all my cookies, multiple times, I know what my password should be, it's case sensitive and I know what it is, I've tried on multiple browsers, and I've even tried to recover my password. I enter my information, I get the e-mail, but when I click on the link to recover my password, it sends me right back to the page where I need to enter my information to send the e-mail to recover my password... Which means I'm in this endless loop of... Nothing being accomplished.

   So, is there something I'm overlooking, or did I get banned or something? Because this is very frustrating.

Seriously? : I'm sorry for the trouble you are having. Your F. Starr account is in no way banned. Since you are using the same IP as your other account, it doesn't seem to be an issue with the IP you are trying to use being banned...so I'm not sure what the deal might be.

I've heard things like this happening before, but usually clearing the Cache/Cookies on your browser fixes the problem. Are you sure that you don't have your caps lock on or anything like that?
I know that there has been issues with the password recovery link for some time now.

I'm thinking the best bet might be to PM David to reset your password for you, but that's kinda last ditch effort.

Jordanv78 :  I do not believe it's Caps Lock related, as the light isn't on, and I never use Caps Lock anyways. It could be something simple, but I've exhausted all the known options, and all of the normal fixes, and still nothing. The fact that I was able to make this account makes me believe it's not an issue with my computer...

   The only think I can think of, is that maybe when I clicked the recover password link, it changes my password, so I can log on, but it hasn't been telling me what the new password is.

Seriously? : are you sure you are checking the correct e-mail address or is the e-mail address listed a valid e-mail? Just checking as that might be why you haven't gotten an e-mail.

I do have a feeling that the recover password feature was changed or deactivated at some point because it got abused. Not sure if there was ever a fix done for that or not.

so, are you able to actually log-in with the F.Starr account or not? If you can log in then you can change your password once you are logged in...

geeogree : No, I'm not able to log on. I was saying I think it may change my password, giving me the ability to log on, assuming I use the new, correct, password. That was a hypothetical. I wasn't saying it was letting me log on.

   I'm still having this problem today... Which sucks. Man, I've been contributing to this site quite a bit, I'm active, I take tons of screenshots, I make posts everyday... This whole thing just... Sucks.

What browsers have you tried?
Do you login and are you immediately logged out when the page refreshes?
Have you ever logged in using another browser or device?

Vanelan :  I haven't been able to log in for the past three days or so... I have logged into Firefox and Google Chrome before.  I don't get kicked off, I simply just can't log in.

     It's really bumming me out...

This is really sounding like a site issue, not a PC issue.

geeogree : I know it's something we try to avoid, but do you think maybe we should get ahold of David for this? If it's indeed an issue with the site (and it really sounds like it is), only he could fix it. And if we don't, we could stand to lose an active member which is something we don't have enough of as it is. I'm asking you because you would probably know better than I, and because you have better chances of getting ahold of David than anyone here, except maybe Jordan. If it hasn't been worked out in three days of trying, it probably won't be worked out at all.

My apologies if I'm poking around in something that's none of business, or stepping out of place here.

Vanelan : Let's see. I do remember being able to log in, like, 4 days ago. Then, when I clicked on my New Notifications, it logged me out, and I haven't been able to get back in. I used to use Chrome, then, when the plug in stopped working, I switched over to Firefox. I now use Firefox mainly, but I did try to use Chrome to see if I could log in, but I still can't, with either.

Eirinn : Oh, I'm positive it's a site issue, I just wanted to rule out any possibility. I've heard users having this issue in the past, but usually deleting cookies/cache has fixed the problem.

The other issue being that the password recovery tool has not worked for a little while, as far as I can remember. Sounds like it's an issue that David is going to have to look into, since there's not much the mods can do at this point.

I've summoned david to the thread. hopefully he sees it.

Seriously? : I suppose you can, but any actions can't be transferred over.
So if you want to upload videos or screenshots, you wouldn't get credit on your main account.

Seriously? : I suppose you can until we can figure out what is going on with your main, just keep in mind, like what was said before, your actions on this account have no way of moving over to the other account.

Users are also generally only allowed to have 1 account at a time, so once we figure out what is going on with your main, we will have to get rid of this one.

I have had problems with the new pluggin downloads in the past and had to revert back to the older versions.  Did you download that?  And if you did, was it before or after you were unable to log in?

It sounds like a cookie issue.
Try your original password on Chrome again since its the last browser that worked.

Vanelan : Just tried multiple times on Chrome and Firefox. Cleared cookies multiple times, still nothing.

   I'm thinking it might be a password issue. I know what my password is, and I haven't changed it, but maybe it got changed somehow? I'd know for sure if the Password Recovery thing worked.

Have you tried to contact David as was previously suggested?
He would be the only one that can manually change your password.

I don't think we asked you yet, but what does happen when you try to log in?
Does it say your password is wrong?
If it is a password issue, you should see this message:

   And yes, that's the message I get. I know my user name is correct, and I know what my password should be, as I haven't changed it, but I get that message every time.

   That's why I was trying to use the Password Recovery system, but... You know, that whole fiasco.
