A user of this : I usually get to catch up to the news easily on the internet as well. For me, every time I turn on the news channel it's news. I barely even see commercials on there So it seems my news channels are the opposite of yours.

I don't watch cable at all anymore. I do watch the news through Sling and other apps maybe once a every three months. I mostly get my news from reading the newspaper online daily. It gets annoying to see what nonsense they consider news worthy but, I still like to know the important stuff.

Sometimes I do sometimes I don't. I used too in the past because there were actually news worth watching, and it wasn't the same one upon weeks on. Nowadays they will keep repeating the same news over and over until they find something new. I would rather read the news from online such as yahoo or hotmail. Because they actually have something, that would perk up your interest to know things and stuff.

I watch it usually every morning, when I can. I actually hate the news but I've convinced myself that I need too so if signs of war or mass killings start happening I'll be on top of it.

I usually get what is on the news through my periodicals database. I guess I read at the place they draw material from.

I very rarely watch the news on TV anymore. The only meaningful thing on the news to me, unless a tragedy or something occurs, is the weather. I now mostly look up the weather online and look up sports news on ESPN. I keep up with most current events by listening to the radio on car rides.

My mom always leaves the TV on to a local news station. Typically I never watch, just glimpse it as I walk past the TV. 

I haven't watched TV in years- it was largely supplanted by the Internet, which is also a far more expansive and intuitive source of info, especially what's current in the world.

I only watch CNN, as part of the news. The others are either terribly biased (Fox News) or pretty lame (MSNBC, any local news network).

I don't bother with the news. It just all sounds the same to me, and local news is like 'X did Y' all the time as if it were some kind of achievement.

I especially hate Celebrity News or other sorts, because they act as if something normal is incredibly important, it makes people forget about themselves and their own community.
Then again this is coming from one who has no community life except running an online one, so maybe my POV is irrelevant.
(also why does this board delete multiple line breaks sometimes and not other times, it is really annoying)

I personally prefer reading the news. We've got a few TV's in our house, but we never really use them.
And it's really nothing interesting lately... It's either the same thing to do with politics or terrorist attacks. Or just in general, people getting hurt, etc. It used to be interesting, but now it's just boring.

I read the news much more often. I like getting straight to the point. Reporters sometimes take too long to do that. The last time I watched the news on tv was during the Paris attacks back in November. Other than news like that, I read it on my phone or computer.

I used to watch the news everyday before I went to school. This was last year when I didn't have to get to school early. I'd watch the today show in the morning and that was enjoyable.

This year however, I haven't been as fortunate to have extra time in the mornings. I have to go to school early, so I haven't watched it for months. However I sometimes do after school when there is an important story that interrupts Judge Judy.

I avoid watching the news because I already know what they're gonna talk about which include the presidential debate, bad news, and on rare occasions good news. Although I stopped watching the news I don't mind reading the newspaper online or on paper.  So no I never watch the news on T.V unless it is sports related than I absolutely have to know what is going on right now if I missed a important sporting event.

I wouldn't say often, but I see the news quite a bit on TV. It's mostly my parents watching it every night and I'll catch some it while it's on. Like plastic said, I see most of my news through social media. I don't really use Facebook all that much, but it's fun to scroll through and see all the funny things people post, and I'll catch news in between. I realize this is extremely cliché to say, but it's always the same depressing crap anyway. I also see a lot of news through The Daily Show and The Nightly Show on comedy central, but that's not always "legitimate" reporting to say the least lol.
