Today is going to be the 1st of 3 days that I will be at Comic Con and I wanted to do a little blog series on the stuff that goes on there so every couple of hours ill be posting things like things I got for free, people I met, cool things that are being sold, and some panels. I'm on the train now and hope to get there just before it opens and have a blast. I'll be searching the booths for about 90 minutes before going to the Adventure Time panel.


Vanelan : Wanna meet up with us to eat some drinks?

zanderlex : I am going rather late today. No cosplay today. It was hot yesterday, so skipping cosplay today.

I'll probably be there is about an hour.

Vanelan : It was a day of disappointment so far, mixed a panel I wanted to go to and found out that I have to get the book I wanted signed on Sunday there, but I already bought it.

I'm in line to get John Dimaggios auto now.

I don't see you.

zanderlex : Getting there. At 6th and 34th...5 blocks to go.

I will be more than happy to read this blog since I was not able to go this year. Tell me how the Adventure Time panel went, I'm curious as to what was said. I want to read everything else that has happened as well so you can summon me if you want.

Van and I just left a few minutes ago, and it was cool, but slightly disappointing. I'll put up a full update on my part later tonight, ill probably type it up while I'm on the subway.

Also, there were like 10 deadpools.

Because game 1 of the NLDS (baseball playoffs) start today and one new York team is in it for the 1st time in 9 years, they were actually the most displayed "character" counts at least 100 people in jerseys.

That's kind of disappointing. It's also kind of funny that they would consider a jersey to be representing a "character."

At any rate, I waited all day for this, so make sure to tell us about everything!

I'm interested in knowing what the coolest costume was, too. Did you by chance take any pictures of anything at the event?

zanderlex : I wonder why it was disappointing. But I can't wait to hear what kinds of cosplays you seen and panels you've been to, along with the free stuff you got. 

Galacta : Between today and yesterday, probably 60458... give or take 1 or 2.

Things I learned:
1- My opinion sucks.
2- I thought Valve's prices on steam were high...(no messenger bag should cost $70 >.<)
3- Ewoks are the greatest ever.
4- Don't ask the wrong questions of some vendors...
5- "Free" sometimes comes with a catch, or sometimes even doesn't exist at all.
6- The panel is in this room, but the line is around the corner where you can't see the door.
7- Apparently, there are wristbands.
8- 30 minutes ahead of time really means 1 hour.
9- This limited edition item is only available at comic con at this booth... and about 4 other ones... and probably on Amazon.
10- That guy in Super Mario World is called wiggler.
11- This figure is display only. Look at its splendor and be sad you can never ever buy it.

I'm still jealous you guys got to go. It sounds like quite the misadventure, but it was an adventure none the less!

8 - Yeah you always had to line up early for panel's especially for the one's that everyone wants to go to.
10 - Did you see a giant wiggler cosplay ? lol  
11 - I hated how there are some display figures that look really awesome but you can't buy them at all. I remember seeing a mini vocaloid statue that I wanted back in comic con 2012 that I couldn't buy.

Skilledtree : 1. I'm assuming he means the part about rotten tomatoes.
5. Free gift without purchase actually means free gift with purchase.
6. Not even around the corner, on the other side of the hallway, down another hallway, around the bathrooms and then around the corner, finally twisting and turning around multiple barricades.
7. We probably wouldn't know because I doubt we were able to get wristbands to go to panels in the first place.

UPDATE #1

The day had started out pretty decently. I met my friend there just before they opened and we went searching for free things, and that's about all that we did. I ended up missing the Adventure Time Panel and all the other panels that I wanted to go to like the Adventure Time signing, Smosh Games, and some other one. I was there with my friend for about 4 hours and we got so many free things like a dozen comics including Witch Hunter and Legend of Korra.

We also got a ton of free buttons, bookmarks, and even music and we had free energy drinks and coffee. There were a ton of game stations to play all sorts of games and there were booths that sold hundreds of old video games. I loved the Oni Press booth, saw a bunch of Invader Zim stuff but it was way too expensive. After my friend left at 2 I went down to the singing area and I waited in line for about 45 minutes to get John Dimaggio to sign my Futurama comic, which cost $30. That ended up to be quits fun because the person in front of me actually had the same exact name as his so they started a thing and it was a lot of fun to watch. I also got signed prints elsewhere, but not as many as I could have because there were some booths that had different artists sign different prints for free every hour.

I had a hard time deciding between going to the Walking Dead premiere which was half a mile away or the Smosh games one, because at the time I missed one of the other panels and the Smosh games one was like 90 minutes away. I thought about leaving too, but then after a while I was able to meet van, who is a lot more awesome than his capital V implies.

We walked around for a while and looked at booths and even got some more free stuff and then we went to a panel by the website Rotten Tomatoes. Here, panel viewers would line up, and then either defend or defeat a movie/TV show and then the panel would say how much their opinions sucked. It was a lot more funny than I thought it would be.

Also, I almost walked into Whoopi Goldberg, in the morning, we were walking and all of a sudden there's some guards pushing us aside who were escorting her.

zanderlex : Wow! That seemed like an action packed day! This is why I gotta go! Pretty cool, man, pretty cool...

Dang man, I'm so jealous. I didn't even know the Legend of Korra had a comic, that's pretty insane. Free energy drinks and coffee is a neat little perk I guess, though I probably would have avoided them in fear of needing to use the bathroom in a packed event too often. Invader Zim stuff is worth the high price tag haha! Nah, but I know it was probably sky high in price - I've heard that a lot of stuff at those conventions are extremely expensive. What all did you get signed though? It's neat you got your Futurama comic signed, I don't have any signed swag personally. I did buy some college football signed swag a few years ago, but have yet to get any video game stuff signed.

I would have definitely went to The Walking Dead premiere. That just sounds stupidly exciting. I mean, obviously Smosh is cool, but it's hard to hold a candle to The Talking Dead. The Rotten Tomatoes panel sounds like a totally abusive thing to do, yet sounds very fun at the same time haha! I didn't know they also were represented there. Man, that's so crazy that you almost walked into them, I bet you were like "What's going on?" haha.

Man, sounds like an epic day.

That's was the name of the rotten tomatoes panel.
The wristbands are for some panels but not others. They are plain paper bands in highlighters colors.
Which panels you ask? I'm not sure the staff even knows. :p

cnw64 : I bought a wiggler plush on day one. When it was being rung up tho, they asked me the name of it and I didn't know. They had to find out to ring it up with their tablet.
A wiggler cosplay woulda been AMAZING! Too bad there wasn't one.
