A new game called Pokemon GO has been announced by the Pokemon Company for android and and iphone devices.

What they said is pretty interesting. The game will use your smartphone camera and GPS technology to let you catch various Pokemon in real life. And then let you trade and battle with other players. The game is being developed by Niantic being responsible for another popular smartphone game utilising GPS technology called Ingress. The company was originally a subsidiary within google having been founded by the co creator of Google Earth John Hanke.

Along side the main game, Nintendo is also developing an accesory for the game called Pokemon Go Plus, a watch like device that connects to your smartphone using bluetooth and notifies you about events and allow you to perform other simple actions.

The Pokemon Company, Nintendo Co. Ltd , Niantic Inc. and even the director of the Pokemon games Junichi Masuda of Gamefreak are all working on the project and the game will likely be incorporated into the main series of games in some way.

The game is set to release in 2016 and will be available to download for free but will include microtransactions.

So what are you're thoughts on this? Personally I think it sounds interesting especially in terms of how they'll handle encountering various legendary Pokemon and could be a really nice way to get more casual gamers into the franchise, but considering the ridiculous  buisness model of Pokemon Shuffle. I am feeling a bit skeptical about the microtransactions that will be included.

Haha this reminds me of that Pokemon Snap game for N64 but with an actual camera.

I hope the Micro-transactions won't be too bad like in most smartphone games.. But I think it has potential.

Sorry dude, but someone already beat you to this.

Feel free to talk about it more here though: https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=89709

I hope that microtransactions won't be as obnoxious here too. It'll probably charge for special pokeballs or something though.

Eirinn : We're gonna need you to close this one up.

Classic Nintendo, that watch accessory. Why put the notifications directly in the game when we can seel them an "innovative" device that improves gameplay. Everyone does notifications, a watch will make it more interesting and unique!

-__- Congrats, Zlinq, you were the messenger that finally managed to kill that tiny spark of hope I had buried for the Nintendo of my childhood to come back some day. You have done me a favor...now I can move on in peace! lol No offense, fans. This is just my take on it.

I'll close it now, but it was a good article, for what it's worth.
