Welcome to the unofficial PSN trophy competition thread. This thread is of course dedicated to a contest held among Vizzed users to see who can secure the most points by earning trophies on PS3, PS4, and/or PS Vita games. Nothing in this competition will ever be game or system specific, nor is there ever a deadline for joining, so please feel free to sign up and play along. You just might win some Viz, or even a PSN gift card code.

Rules:
Any game worth playing has rules, and this one is no exception.

NOTE: these rules are outdated. I will update them when I get a good chance. Until then PM me or post here if you would like clarification on how this all works.


#1. Post your PSN username, or put it on your profile*.
*If you don't want to share this openly, PM it to me. I need this so that I will be able to see proof of your trophies.
NOTE: If you do not have connection on your PlayStation system(s) then a screenshot will suffice, IF you provide proof that it is indeed yours (such as holding a piece of paper in front of the screen while snapping a picture with your phone etc.)

#2. Once you've followed the first step, post here to announce your participation.

#3. Sunday is our weekly update day for this thread. Be sure to post your trophy count updates on this day. If you cannot do so on Sunday, then post them Saturday, or before five PM on Monday, Vizzed time (CST).

#4 No cheating/exploiting (cheating the game in any way) is to be done. This obviously cannot be enforced, but it's an honor rule that I sincerely hope we are all mature enough to abide by. For an explanation of cheating, PM me.
NOTE: use of trophy guides is permitted.

#5. You must earn your trophies on your own. If they're earned in multiplayer, that's fine as long as you were one of the players. No handing the controller to a friend. Again, another honor rule.


Categories
This competition is broken down into the following categories:

•Overall (This is the main competition. More on this later)

•Most Bronze (Whoever earns the most Bronze trophies wins this category)

•Most Silver (See above)

•Most Gold

•Most Platinum

•Most Trophy Points (More on trophy points later)


Scoring guidelines for total trophy points category:
Bronze = 1 point
Silver = 3 points
Gold = 5 points
Platinum = 10 points

Scoring Guidelines for Overall competition:
The top three to five ranking contestants for each category will receive points that count toward their "overall" standing. Whoever has the most points in the overall standing at the end of each quarter wins the contest and the PSN* gift card.

Below is a guide of how the points will be determined.

"Most Bronze" Category:
1st Place = 3 points
2nd Place = 2 points
3rd Place = 1 point

"Most Silver" Category:
1st Place = 3 points
2nd Place = 2 points
3rd Place = 1 point

"Most Gold" Category:
1st Place = 5 points
2nd Place = 4 points
3rd Place = 3 points

"Most Platinum" Category:
1st Place = 5 points
2nd Place = 4 points
3rd Place = 3 points

"Most Trophy Points" Category:
1st Place = 10 points
2nd Place = 8 points
3rd Place = 6 points
4th Place = 4 points
5th Place = 2 points


In the event of a tie in any category, the competitor whose trophies were earned from the fewest games, wins.
For example: if I earn fifty trophy points and my trophies came from five different games, and another user earns fifty points but their trophies came from only three games, they win. This rewards the effort put into collecting more difficult trophies, as well as helps balance things a bit more for those who can't buy a ton of games.
If a tie cannot be broken this way, then whoever earned their final contributing trophy first wins the tie.
If a tie persists beyond this point, both contestants receive the points for first, and nobody places as second (i.e. Two first place winners, a third place winner, a fourth place winner, etc).



Please note that these rules and point systems are subject to change if it is determined that they are unbalanced or lacking. Also if you have any questions, feel free to ask. And feel free to hold simple discussions about the contest here as well, it's about having fun after all!

Well, I also have my username posted around here, but I don't mind adding it here: Garsiz.

I'm currently not trying to earn any new trophies, so I'll take this weekend to check what trophies I'm missing and join the competition probably next week. I don't plan on getting new games for my PS3 either. If this lasts enough, I might get my PS4 and fresh new games to play, and I will be able to fully enter the competition seriously.

I'll post here again when I check my current trophy count. Until then, I'll watch from the sidelines. Looking forward to see how this competition unfolds!

ThanatosUnraveld : Yeah, it has to be on Vizzed, sorry. The purpose is to increase use of the collection feature. Not my job, but I try to help any way I can. xD Besides, this way it's easier for me to keep track.

TristanTehGamer1 : If you have too many, you can add them a little at a time I suppose (assuming you haven't already done it).

Final Weapon : Current trophies do not count. That's actually why I need to see how many trophies each person has when they join: so I know how many they've earned since then.

Eirinn : ive added most of the games i own right now but i was wondering if i should add every single game on my trophy list that i dont own anymore

TristanTehGamer1 : No, that's alright. The only real purpose of the collection thing is to get people to use the special features it offers (request playing online with other owners of the game, request notifications on threads about the game, offer to sell or trade the game) and take advantage of the feature itself. And since only trophies from here on out count, previously owned games won't affect it anyway.


ThanatosUnraveld : That's fine, I suppose, so long as your PSN name section on Vizzed can be edited as well. I can do the math though, so it doesn't matter too much, plus you would be losing a few years worth of progress on your account.

But as long as it can be edited on Vizzed, I don't mind, no.

Eirinn : well you can make a new account and save the old account too and it would be fun to build up my account again LIKE A BOSS!

I've checked my trophy collection, and I have 7 games below 50% of total titles, which means that half my game collection still has a ton to explore. I have two guides pending for PS3, and since I'm getting rid of it in a few months, I'll get to those guides as quickly as I can so the last weeks can be dedicated towards this competition.

I have an important question for you guys. I guess this will be a vote to see which opinion wins.

So I'm trying to Platinum Knack and I'm so stinkin' close I can taste it, but I still need five more Diamond relics.

Now to explain this a bit better, there are sixty eight treasure chests hidden throughout the game, and each chest contains either a part to a "gadget" or a relic of some sort.

If you collect enough of a certain relic you unlock a new form of Knack. For example I think it takes fifteen Ruby relics to unlock Vampire Knack, twenty sunstone relics to unlock sunstone Knack, etc. That's all well and good except for one tiny problem...

Even after you unlock a new Knack, you'll keep finding relics for him which are useless. Literally. As a result I have unlocked every Knack except diamond Knack and have accumulated insane amounts of useless relics. In total I have:
61 Ruby relics, of which only the first 15 did anything.
54 Amethyst relics, of which only the first 20 were useful.
39 Aqua relics, of which only the first 10 were useful.
31 Sunstone relics, of which only the first 20 were needed.
15 Emerald relics, which I needed all of.
5 Diamond relics of 10 needed.

I've literally played through five times to accumulate these, and during these only acquired five of the needed Diamonds and roughly 150 other relics that are entirely useless.

This brings me to my question: do you guys (since you're the only ones who have posted here) think it should be counted as cheating if I open a chest and close the game if it isn't a diamond relic, then restart and repeat the process until I have all ten?
I sincerely hope not, because as it's going I'll have to beat this game at least five or six more times in order to get Diamond Knack, and between this file and the hard and very hard playthroughs, I'll end up beating it twelve or thirteen times, and spending another 40 - 60 hours playing for a couple of trophies. :/ I'm ready to platinum and move on to another game for a bit.

Eirinn : man if that was the case then whenever I had to soft reset to get all the random chests in the Omega Ruins of FF10 then butter me up with puddin and call me a cheater but sense that's not cheating............... then................ STILL DO IT TO ME!
