So, the TdV is fast approaching us, and this forum could use a little more activity, since I put 2 million plus into the darn thing. So I got to thinking about what event we could do to bring activity to the forum... and I thought of it... A streaming TdV! 

So, how it would work is ( keep in mind... I am just spit balling here ) there would be 4 jerseys, possibly. Longest Stream... Most stream seconds... Longest YouTube video...  and most YouTube video seconds. Or, we could just run it like the VCS, and do total seconds or everything, but uploading streams would not count, as you shouldn't be able to get double credit for 1 work. 

Right now, I am looking to see if there is any interest in this idea before I start going through the trouble of getting this started. So, I'll summon everybody that is currently listed on the Twitch Streams link.

Now, it won't be limited to just these people, but if you are planning on participating, I would need a PM so I could put it in the OP to keep track of who to be looking at .
Also, in order to keep things simple, you'd have to have your YouTube channel linked to your Vizzed profile, as well as your Hitbox and Twitch streaming channels so we can keep track of those too. 

Local Mods : I would need your help running this if we go through with this, since I still currently only have internet at work Thursday through Sunday mornings. However, I should be getting internet hopefully sometime during April in my apartment. 


So... what do you guys think of this idea? 

This isn't a bad idea... But would there be a restriction, or maybe a certain thing to stream? Or just any game, any time? 

One problem is, is there just a "jersey" or is there more? 

I would be interested in doing this, but I'm not sure how good I'll do, since I do small streams. (Once I am done with High School, I'll be able to do more.)

As for restrictions, no. Just as long as they are games, then it's good. So any game, any time is fine. However, I guess something that would have to be mentioned, just to make things easier... let's say you did a stream, right? But, that streams goes past midnight into another day. Well, that entire stream would go towards the day it ended, since we wouldn't have a way of knowing where it crossed over. 

If by " just a 'jersey' or is there more" you mean a Viz award at the end of the month, then yeah, I could probably do that, assuming I have enough Viz. I mean, if we go ahead with this idea, the thread is surely to get some replies, which would give me some viz, so yeah, I suppose I could this. 

And hey, I don't expect it to get too much of a competition in the first month. Heck, lilwildwolve21 ( djinn ) will probably win it because he is constantly streaming. 
But, if you do enough, you could easily make top 5. I don't expect it to do too great... just enough to warrant doing it for the whole month, and to bring just a little activity to the forum. 

This sounds like a good idea, but I doubt enough people would record on a daily basis to make keeping a daily score worth while.

One cool thing would be that somebody who is good with designs could make a logo, banner, intro and put that up as a prize for the winner to make their channel look better.

Maybe doing points every week or so would make it more equal.

I agree with zanderlex. I dunno if we have enough participation for daily rankings. Weekly sounds better. 

I;m with Zander on this one, as not many people actually stream daily, I'm normally once or twice a week if time allows, and even then, I could go two whole weeks without a single stream, so, it may make a bit more sense to just tally up everything for a month, and decide placings on that alone, or something?

For example, someone could do a single stream that lasts something like three days, and still win the Longest Single Stream category, but someone could do an hour or so a day and claim most stream seconds, it's all down to the time frames you use, since daily, wouldn't be feasable in the long run of things, due to, as mentioned, not everyone streams daily, which puts them at a severe disadvantage.

But, if the kinks are ironed out, I don't see why this can't work, so long as it's fair for ALL streamers.  

thing1 : I won't know why you would be streaming a posting competition because all you do is post things and who wants to watch others post material, especially you see people use streaming for art or gaming. But hey, there are people that streams weirder things, so I don't think it's a weird idea to others, and others on here agrees on this.

But hey, it's you that's doing the stream, not me. If you like to stream a posting competition, that's up to you.

IgorBird122 : It's not a stream of the TDV, it's a TDV for streamers.

WE wouldn't be streaming people posting, the prizes are given to the streamers for streaming their games or art, using timers to decide the winners, I think you may need to read the intro post again.

Andae : Oh, I must of read it wrong, but I don't think it's a good idea still, the reason why is it may have problems because the reason why is with streaming, people can stream anything, even if it has nothing to do with video games or art, like stream their cat's life or stream something else for long hours, not too sure.

But this is mostly on my point of view, it might be good or might be bad.

IgorBird122 : Well, since it's possible for moderators to go through a streamer's archives, that can easily be rectified, allowing a moderator to vouch for some of the video's while making sure people don't score for the non-gaming streams.

But I do see your point, and like I said, the kinks need to be ironed out.

I think this would be a good idea, but the problem that I see is that I don't see this having much participation. Unlike the other contest we have here, this is pretty much limited to those that can stream and those that can make videos for YouTube, something I think only a limited number of members here can take part in. I think, with a different format, this could be a good idea, but unless we get a ton of participation, I don't see it working on the scale of a TdV.

I voted no only cause I don't have as much time as some of the other streamers do. I know "lilwildwolf" is on streaming for hours upon hours for a day. My internet can barely even support one stream.

You all expressed some kind of interest in this. It could pretty complicated. So. how about we do a VCS version instead of a TdV version? Basically, instead of having so many categories, it would just be seconds streamed. 

Now, there would be rules put in place. For example, if you found to be idling for more than 5 minutes in an hour's time span, you would be DQ'ed for a day. That way, it could be fair. 

This could be a lot simpler, and a whole lot easier to maintain. 

What about this idea? 

That ideas for idling sounds good, what about a rule saying you have to switch up the games you play? It might not be fair to some if somebody has a game they can play 10 hours straight.

zanderlex : naw, that'd be allowed. Most of the games I would play if I participated at all would be games with stories, probably 3 or 4 hours at a time. So, as long as it's a game, I don't see why it would be a problem how long you played the game for. 

I think this is a good idea, but no idling for over 2%, as like the competitions Davideo7 does for the video recording competitions.
