What a terrible thing!

As we were frustratingly sitting in front of our computer screens, waiting for vizzed to back up to 100%, it occurred to me that the only way it was going to get back to that was by the efforts of Davideo7, and his alone.

David put in stressful hours and hours (likely with little sleep) trying to keep the business that supports his family from being irrevocably damaged, putting in a lot of "overtime". But... unlike the rest of us, David doesn't get paid EXTRA for overtime. In fact, the opposite is true, he LOST money while the site was down.

All the stress, financial burden, and lost time was on David. But we can help.

I would like to encourage as many users as possible to, if they can, donate a little to the site. It could be 10 dollars... it doesn't matter; but wouldn't it be great to show our thanks to David by turning March into one of Vizzed best donated months?!

If ever you've been waiting for a good time to donate to Vizzed, now is the perfect time!

The problem is, I feel many Vizzed users (like me) are too young to donate to a site without parental guidance.
Granted, I have more than 10 dollars to spare, but there would be no way I could coax the iron bars that are my parents to donate them to the site.
(Don't get me wrong --- they aren't greedy. They just wouldn't see why there's charity behind my decision.)

Davideo7 : Man David I would donate but I'm broke we know you do this to give people the ability to relive there childhood and we thank you for that. I hope you do not break down from stress okay. We believe in you I may have not been here since this place was created but it is the only forum I still go to so that makes it special. So what I'm saying is that I along with every other member of the Vizzed Board appreciate what you do and we hope that you continue to be this awesome you are one of the only people I respect because you put the time and effort to make this site what it is today. I really hope you see this David and I hope it makes your day and gives you motivation to keep going if not for you then for us thank you for this great site you have blessed us with.

We understand that there are many of you that can't donate but even if we can get a handful of people to do it then we can help make up for what happened in another way.

Some of us put in time and effort into the site as staff (or into dealing with the hacking issue) but most of the membership do nothing but enjoy the benefits of the site.

While there is no pressure to donate and people are free to do so as they are able it would be really nice if people could take the time to find $10 to donate to a site that they derive so much enjoyment from.

I've donated both time and money and continue to do so. I hope others can find it in themselves to do the same

Believe me, if I had the money, I would donate. 

Right now, though, I have no job and can't even afford gas to get to interviews without my parents' help, and they are on a shoestring budget.  Once I find something, though, the occasional donation to here will happen when I have the extra.

Seriously, living in an area that is so far below the poverty line sucks sometimes.

Thanks, I appreciate you creating a thread like this. A lot of users actually don't realize how much time goes into dealing with situations like this and some users even message me with complaints on how I ruined their day or similar things. Hopefully this thread will help users realize these things and maybe be a little more understanding next time.

MysteriousPanzer : That seems to be the story that every user under 18 has and I'm fine with that. All I really ask for it for everyone's loyalty to the site during situations like that.

I'm one of the few that has a glimpse into what you do for the site.

I also find it absolutely unbelievable that people take it personally when things like this happen. As if there is some benefit for you to have the site down for a day (or longer). So silly.

I'll donate when I can, I've just been doing things for members lately but I'll help out more soon.

I can't believe that Davideo7 alone can fix the site within a few days after getting hacked. He never ceases to impress me!

I want to donate and I almost always have but I can't If I'm still on vizzed after I move out of my house I think I'll be able to make a lot of small donations though

Light Knight : I'm so happy I come back today and read announcements and saw this post. Thatz terrible about the hack and the loss of money. Unless there is an apocalypse I will make a sizable donation with some of my funding in a couple of weeks. Glad to see everything is ok now. Take care.

PacmanandMariofan : Yeah it is only David that can fix this sort of stuff, seeing as he is the sole coder of vizzed.

Currently I am not able to make any donations as I don't have any cards, but by next week I'll make a few donations.

I can't wait until the end of April and beginning of May when I have a job! I will definately be a regular donator here on vizzed then! I just wish I could do it now... 

I really am glad that Davideo stays on top of everything! Always adding new things, taking care of almost everything on the site! And, sure some stuff could be better, but he's only human! Support him and he'll continue to help us! Don't and he won't...

Glad to see the donations coming through. I don't see all of them but I know we've donated close to $100 since the hacking. I cant' say if this makes up for the downtime but it definitely helps to keep Vizzed going.

I'm sure David appreciates any and all help that is given.

geeogree : Every day (or almost every day) I came onto vizzed since the hacking, I've seen a few donations! Maybe it won't make up for the site's downtime but it sure is an amazing start

PacmanandMariofan : well, part of the reason I was vague is that there is no need to give away how much David earns from the site on a daily basis. If he chooses to pass on that info then so be it but I'm not in a position to do that.

And regardless of how much money was lost on that day that shouldn't stop people from donating even more money. We all benefit from Vizzed and to donate just once for $10 helps to pay for all the time we've spent here and benefited from David's hard work. The great part though is that no one HAS to donate in order to enjoy the benefits of the site.

geeogree : Oh, OK. I'm grateful that we don't have to pay money for any of the benefits of this site. The only payments we have to make to enjoy benefits of the site (such as the Playstation item) is Viz

Light Knight : I would love to help, but I think I'm a bit too young to do this, plus the parental guidance thing, you know... Hmm, maybe when I get older I'll donate in the future, maybe? Btw, that's a very nice thread, there.

I'd absolutely love to help whenever I can, but right now, it's just not possible. For one thing, I'm only 14 years old. That's not that big of an issue though, since I'm about to get my first job once I turn 15 later this year. However, me and my family are currently going through financial troubles at the moment, so it's kind of hard for me to donate while this is happening. To add to this problem, we are currently in the process of moving houses, so..yeah..but, I'll be sure to donate whenever I can!
