I don't have any real current phobias, unless you count astrophobia (fear of space). I can't bear to think about going into space, but it's not like that'll happen any time soon.

I used to have aerophobia (fear of flying), but i overcame that this summer after some turbulent flights.

I have Batophobia (fear of falling from high places and being close to tall buildings).

I'm not afraid of heights when I have something like a pillar to hold on to, but I can NOT stand on glass floors or go in a ferris wheel and stuff like that. I overcame my fear of rollercoasters, though I still need to hold someone's hand if I go in one.

As for tall buildings, I can absolutely not stand next to one. There has to be a good distance between me and the building to not get caught up by fear. This is also why we live in a small town.

My phobia is arachnophobia. I am terrified of spiders. Big, small, right in front of me, on TV, it doesn't matter. I see one and I either freeze up and feel like I'm going to be sick or run in the other direction and cry. I just hate everything about them.

you all might like this link: http://phobialist.com/

for me its Achluophobia- Fear of darkness.

and insomnia might only be part of the problem for you, kirbmanboggle. this phobia may actually play a bigger part in that problem.

i usually just enjoy staying up late playing games and doing other stuff (games, anime...internet). otherwise it may seem like i have insomnia but a more likely result is my sleep pattern has been thrown off. see, due to it being so hot and cold where we live (in the summer and winter respectively) i pretty much have the windows in my room covered in layers (tin foil, blinds, curtains) and due to the aforementioned phobia i pretty much always have the light on in here SO...yeah, it can be fairly easy to throw off my sleep pattern and have me switch to being nocturnal (up all night and sleeping through the daytime hours).

and thats why we have clocks. clocks on the computer, on game consoles, on the satellite tv, clocks to help you keep track of what time it is and when bed time is.

so yeah, i have a hard time leaving my room at night or dealing with dark places in general (this is exactly why i can't bear to visit "the end" map in minecraft :/) but if i wind up sleeping during the day it just means something has gone a little...off. not that i'd complain much, night time can be quite peaceful and pleasant.

I am  claustrophobic to a pretty large degree.
To a degree that I can't even sit in a booth unless I am on the outside, and have to sit in the seat near the walkway in movie theaters
(The two most common issues that pop up with this phobia, and a slight annoyance of both me and my friends)
Being surrounded makes me start panicking, and even being in vehicles when I am not driving makes me uncomfortable.
I can handle small spaces, but only if I can get out of them very quickly.
If I would be slowed even a little getting out, I start feeling high anxiety, or even outright panic.

It sucks too, because occasionally someone will stand somewhere that is blocking me into a small spot.
I get so anxious that I can't even verbalize that it is a problem.
I'll start breathing heavy and get a bit panicked, and just kinda freeze in place.
Eventually my instinct will kinda kick on, and I'll grandly push them aside and practically run to a large open area to catch my breath.
This of course nets me some weird and annoyed looks, so I have to instantly start explaining myself, lol.
I've gotten a lot better at managing it than I used to be (when I was younger I would flat freak out) but it's still a work in progress for me.

Oddly enough, I am completely fine with roller-coasters and the like though.
love them in fact.

My phobia is Atychiphobia: The fear of failing. I've had it for awhile and I'm only now just starting to overcome it. I mainly feared failure because I just couldn't stand to see the disappointment in others and also how it will affect future events in my life. (Thank goodness I'm starting to overcome it...)

Honestly, darkness. But, not like begin afraid of the dark. I'm afraid of being out in public in the dark.

Also, scary games and horror movies.

I have 2 really prominent phobias and, oddly enough, they're really contradictory: Claustrophobia and Agoraphobia, the fears of small spaces and open spaces, respectively. I've always been claustrophobic since I was a kid, as I remember being in a lockbox at a camping ground (it was for hide-and-seek) and not being able to open the door outward. After 5 minutes or so I began hyperventilating, and looking back now, I'm pretty sure I was having a legitimate panic attack. Luckily, I had made enough noise for someone to find me, and that was pretty much the end of it.

My fear of open spaces isn't nearly as bad, as it only really applies to being in massive open rooms. Being in a large clearing in the outdoors has little to not effect on me, but large rooms or buildings have been a problem for me before. In fact, a few weeks ago, I was apart of an honor band wear we got to perform in this very large auditorium. The first time we walked on stage and into the big room for practicing, I just saw the massiveness of the room and pretty quick I began feeling sick and tense. Generally after a few deep breaths, I can calm myself down a bit, and I have been fortunate enough to have never had a serious problem with it.

So that's my spiel. Thanks

I doubt it is a phobia, but I hate dolls. Those lifeless stares seem like they are peering straight into your soul. Another fear I have is that I will wind up living a mediocre life and accomplish nothing. I feel like if I don't do something, get some job, anything, to make people's lives better, my life will somehow have less value. Maybe you could say that I feel like I've been put on this Earth to somehow make people's lives better and I'm afraid of somehow not doing that.

The only phobia I know I have is Batophobia, fear of heights and being on high places... but I love it. I love having this fear. I love the thrill of being in a high spot like a rollercoaster or hiking up a mountain and then sitting on a cliff. It is contradictory I know but I am genuinely afraid, hell my first time paragliding in mission bay I almost freaked out even though I was over water and wasn't that high up. But it was so fun I'd do it again and again.

I have the fear of heights without any thrills about it what so ever. I guess it is the room 101 for me. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Room_101 ) It is a panic attack at best and who knows, a heart attack at worst.

I have this phobia about loosing those that are close to me. I just don't think I could take it.
I also have this thing about not knowing how I am going to die, and that just scared the crap out of me.
I am a prideful man, and I am a guy that takes care of others. If I die, and it is not from saving somebody else, or from old age or being sick, then I will be extremely upset.

thing1 : I think the fear of losing those that are close to you is a common effect of PTSD, which you've mentioned a few times that you have.

I think my biggest fear is losing anyone close to me. I haven't discovered all my fears yet, of course. Another fear I have is Altophobia (fear of heights). I'm perfectly fine in an airplane, even if I look down. However, being up high on a very tall hill, being up high in a ferris wheel, or being on a rollercoaster are all very scary to me.

I have a big fear of bees, wasps, yellowjackets, etc. I cannot go near one. I hear the term, leave them alone and they will not bother you, but 3rd grade says otherwise. I just cannot stand those things.

Well I went through the list and I apparently have no phobias. Not to say that I'm not afraid of anything but apparently the things I'm afraid of aren't phobias.

LunarDarkness2 : I have the same phobia as well, when I see one, I nearly freak out, even if the insect is harmless, I just wanted to kill it as soon as possible. Not sure on why, I just don't really want to get stung by one of these "things".
When I see a bee hive, I like back off as far as I can or get into an enclosed shelter and spray the nest with Bee / Wasp / Hornet spray, and hope for the best. But any other insect and yes, even cockroaches, I have no problem with.

I don't know the name of this phobia, and I don't know whether it's even extreme enough to be considered a phobia, but I do have a pretty noticeable fear of bugs, especially cockroaches .
