I have really wanted to get into the halo franchise, but lack the resources to find the game... As I haven't found a good copy on Amazon, or Ebay, but to get to the topic I want to discuss. Did anyone here start playing the Halo games with this game, or did you start with Halo 2 or above? What makes Halo: Combat Evolved such a good game? Do you still play it? How long have you had it, and how good is the replay value of the game? Would you suggest the game to someone? 

Just so people know, I would be talking about the PC version of the game, and not the Xbox... Also not the Master Chief Collection games coming out for the Xbox One.

I highly recommend Halo: Combat Evolved. I still play it every once in a while, which is not true of most of my old Xbox games.

Also, if you're going to really get into the Halo franchise, you're going to need to play on Xbox. The only Halo games released for PC were Combat Evolved and possibly Halo 2 (I'd have to check).
