If you did not know, Microsoft Butchured Support for Windows Xp back in April, so this is my late goodbye  to the OS.
Windows Xp was my Second OS I ever Had. Before that, I used Windows 98. When Xp came out, My parents Scraped enough money to make a 2GB RAM computer with Windows Xp Installed for my Brother, and I got the Windows 98 one. In 2004, my brother decided  to get a New  Computer, and Gave me the Xp machine he had. I thought that It was Bright, and Colorful, and The Graphics looked amazing for games at it's time, and Windows 98 layed there. Forgotten.
In 2007, for my birthday I got a Windows Xp Laptop, and I was very excited, I could watch YouTube, play some games, and make documents on the go.  I loved it, and Took care of it. I became very depressed when the computer became slow, and was becoming obsolete. I unwillingly forked over money that year to buy myself a used Windows 7 laptop, and It broke for no reason 2 Months later, and got on, and still is on, Life Support.
In 2013, I found my Xp laptop again, and played some old games for the Nostalgia, but there were dead pixels in the bottom right corner.
And back in August or June, I found It again, while looking for a USB for a Windows 8 laptop, and described how much I missed it, and if still is here.
Instead of getting rid of my old Laptop, It's new home Will be my closet, where I store all of my old valuebale stuff, leaving it to rest and have dreams about back when It was the next hot thing.
         RIP WINDOWS XP

Thankfully yours had such a long life.

It didn't succumb to the blue screen, unlike many of its kind.

And yes, XPs are never seen around anymore. Their time has passed, it's true. =/

Well, I happen to have a Windows XP pro desktop as we speak, it's what I've had for at least a year and a half and I don't get blue screens or anything like that, sure... Support is gone but I don't think it's so much the OS as much as it's the way it's set up or used.

EideticMemory : Therefore it's not true, your statement is wrong.

They canceleld support but that doesent mean people cant still use it.
And it actually has a pretty niche spot, given it takes about half the specs that windows 7 does. If I was installing an O.S on a crappy machine, id choose xp over 7.

Perhaps I'm not the biggest fan of XP, but i still remember it fondly, as the first OS i ever used. It did its job well enough for many people and i can see why it's become so beloved. Supports gone but it'll still be remembered.

Frodlex : Which part of my statement are you referring to?

I was speaking generally. Nothing that you posted really countered anything I said. =P

Frodlex : Well, you own one. So obviously you would see it almost every day. =P

But when I use a word like "never", it's not to be taken at face value.

It means that there's a severe lack of them.

Anyway, I personally haven't seen a functional one in months, if not years.

I didn't like XP for a long, long time. When it came out I was in the "Fischer Price" camp, thinking it looked like a dumbed down version of Windows (Sound familiar, Windows 8 bashers?)

But I came around eventually. I do sort of miss that shiny, silvery task bar. The late nights spent tweaking the UI, getting everything just so. Countless nights sitting in IRCs and forums... It wasn't really Windows XP that I feel nostalgic for, but the times spent while XP was the go-to OS.

XP was great for its time, and it definitely deserves to be remembered as the great system it was. I mean, it was the windows for over a decade. But its time is gone.

Thanks, Windows XP team. You made a solid product that I'm proud to have never bought.

Windows XP is still my favorite operating system. Of the five computers in my house, three of them still run on XP. The other two came with Windows 7.

Of course, I think I still have my old laptop somewhere that runs on Windows 95.

A breakthrough for windows xp has been found. If you copy this code

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMWPAPosReady]

"Installed"=dword:00000001

into a notepad and save it as XP.reg(Not XP.reg.txt. Make sure Hide known file types box in folder option is blank so you can see the .txt extension)After that double click it and add it to the registery and viola windows xp is supported until 2019. I recommend using this if you can't upgrade to a newer windows(Money issues personal issues)

I'll miss you & Windows XP. Just b/c Win XP's gone, doesn't mean people can't still use it. I also missed Win XP as well. I really loved all its features, esp. the pinball game.

People can still use Windows XP. It does have modern Internet support and it's one of the most popular operating systems that Microsoft made over the years. It's not the end of the well known operating system. I know some people that still use Windows XP on their computers and they don't care about support. Even if they need to upgrade, they should at least put it on Windows 7 since it's still active to most people on the PC industry today.

mastergame : Great game, it was... You can still get it at http://www.softpedia.com/blog/Download-Windows-XP-s-Pinball-Game-for-Windows-7-and-Windows-8-316380.shtml . The reason they took it off was because they (in my opinion) were LAZY. RAWR!!! (Real story: Bug in game that makes the ball act like a ghost, falling through objects. They didn't have time to go back to fix it because of time managment. So, they just dropped the game all together.

bostonblokhed1 : Ouch, I certainly love Windows XP. It's getting slower and slower, isn't? It might get glitchy. XP was a great time to enjoy, until it died last year. Don't get rid of it, keep it for Nostalgia. I rarely see now people having a XP Computer.
