Beyond Good And Evil Walkthrough

Hello everyone this is like my 2nd walkthrough of a game I hope this helps anyone with what you may get stuck on.

It starts with the breaking news about alien monsters called the *Domz* and a cutscene will happen before something terrible happens, a planet called *Hillys* after that things become calm. There you will meet a young woman with an orphan, they will be doing exercises. Then the young woman will sense something coming. The sky will turn green and some things will fall out from the sky which is the domz. Then the young woman tells the orphan to get on her back. Then her introduction will come in, her name is jade. She is a reporter and a photographer. She runs to get the shield up. But, it will fail to respond. The other orphans are shout for her, as that happens the domz fall inside the lighthouse just on the outside bit in the garden. Jade shouts back to stay inside, then the children gets captured and also gets trapped inside the domz body. Then that’s when you come into control of jade.

Use the left analog stick to move jade around, hit the domz and free the children by tapping the X button to attack them. Keep going until all of them are free. After that a small cutscene will happen. Jade will get captured herself and she won’t be able to break free. So her uncle will come to the rescue, and bring her weapon as well. So at this time jade will have her weapon. In the beginning of the game the instructor will help you along. And will tell you how you can use your weapon and also how you can use her special move as well. You will fight a mini boss, first of all you will have to break yourself free in order to attack. Hold down X by using the special move, you will see a pink colour the more you hold down the more powerful the attack becomes. When it is bright enough release the move to go and attack the boss. It will attack you too so watch out. And another thing it takes some time to build up your special attack. You will need to attack it in the eye. Keep on attacking until he is killed. After when you’ve killed it you will get a pearl, then some more cutscenes will happen. After the cutscene go up, using some sort of transportation. Another cutscene will occur and jade will faint. I suggest that you should explore your controller. So that you know when and what to press, Pey’j will mostly tell you on what you need to do throughout most of the time on the game, even in when you are stuck on tight spots. that will mean I won’t put in so much details. When you take or do new things, take it on board to know it. Since the shield is down you are sitting ducks, with the crochaxs flying around outside your lighthouse. You will have to take pictures for a person who works in the *Science center.* get your camera which is on a table, explore the house and taking any item that you would need. Then go outside but, be very careful. Don’t get attacked by them go to a good and safe distance to take the pictures.

I guess this would be a great time to tell you the controllers for what you will press on.

The X button is to attack mostly. It can also be used to for actions buttons.
The Left analog stick is to move jade around.
The right analog stick is to control jades camera.
The start button is to pause the game.
Square button is to roll and evade.
Triangle button is for your partners actions, like an action button as well. But, just for them.
Circle button is to use an item.
R2 is to run.
L1 or R1 is to crouch.
R1 is photo mode.
Directional buttons for left and right is to switch items.
I’ll do another section for the controller bit for the camera. As the controllers are not that easy to remember. Not unless you have played the game many times.


When in photo mode

Use R1 button to zoom in and out. Btw at the beginning the zoom is very poor, so take the photos to the science centre to upgrade your cameras zoom.
The X button is to take a picture.
The circle button is to throw discs but, you won’t get that until you progress more into the game.

Ok with that done we can move on with the walkthrough.

When you start to take the pictures, make sure to view your album from time to time. That is so that you know how many to take. Or to know have many you have taken. It will be hard at first as I said before because of the zoom. So you have to have the right timing to take the picture. To get the zoom you will need *350 units* Units is as in money on the game. I thought that I should put that in to let you know. That’s to get the shield back up and running, and to get the door opened for the hanger as well. Once everything is up and running there will be a mission for you. Go to the hanger then too peg’js workshop to view it. A mdisk reader will appear. Yes that is what it is called. The mdisk will be in this some sort of machine called the coder player. That is where you can play them and to save your game as well. So that is also a saving point. Put the mdisk to view and read the message. So to know what kind of a mission that was sent to you. Once that is done leave the workshop. Leave the workshop and back to the hanger. Ok you see a bit electrical brick thing? Move it to get the hovercraft working. Heres a pic of it

Just go to it and press up on your left analog stick, jade will start to push. And peg’j will come to help her out. Once done pushing you will see some electricity go into the hovercraft. But before you go into it take some items that is on the table. Your boat is called hovercraft by the way. Use it and head for a garage place called *Mamago* funny name right? Anyway, your boat will breakdown halfway, so someone from the mamago garage will help you. Once you are in the garage you will need to buy *Speed Motor* that will help your hovercraft to gain more speed. That will cost you *1 pearl* remember that mini boss that you fought in the beginning of the game? That is how you got it. Once your boat is fixed leave mamago’s. And then a set of domz will attack again. But, this time it will attack the boats you should see a long body domz creature.

1st boss
Hold the R2 button to speed while you shoot. Keep tapping the X button to shoot, and then its body will pull of one at a time. Keep on shooting mind you, and control your speed or your boat will lose a life. What I am saying is that when you hold R2 to speed be careful not to get hit. Keep on attacking until there is nothing left of its body. You will get another pearl for defeating it.

You can take some more pictures while you are on the sea. What I mean is that. Once you get the zoom then after you can get more pearls by taking pictures of animals. Now you need to get back to your mission and finding the place. Use your map to help but….it might be confusing so I’ll link something to help.

Once you are back on track go through the *Main Canal* basically go through the city itself. Continues on to the *South Gate* now you should see an island figure in front of your face. If you do that is the place that you need to go called *Black Isle* you will meet the man know sent you the mdisk for the mission. He will further brief you on what you have to do next. Save the game before doing your mission and exploring the Isle.

Black Isle
When you jog in your path will be blocked on the ground are two platforms step on one and use the triangle button for pey’j to step on the other. That blocked path will open. Once in you will be in a place called *Ancient mine*

Ancient mine

Now you will be asked to talk to pey’j. He wants to show you something. So after when that is done get him to use his jet boots, to lift you up to get to the upper platform. You can’t leave the uncle behind so there will be this thing called *lone cog* between two wooden panels. It will be to your left. Go up to it and by pressing the X button, the two leviers will fall down. That will give pey’j some access, and being able to follow you. While you are in the mine take some pics of some rare species as well. First before you go further, take a picture of the map. Next you should start to descend down low. In front, you should see another species called Flying glow worm, Crystal anenome and some fireworks. If you have some trouble of where to go look at your map, this place is pretty simple, to guess of where you are going. There is some small passageway where the firework is. Go up to the Flying glow worm, you can’t attack it so there is no point of trying to hit it. Get the pey’j to use his jet boots attack, that will left it up from its comfort zone and into the air. This bit might take sometime to handle, once it is in the air quickly hold down the X button and it will change into a slow motion attack. You will first need to aim properly of where you want to hit it. Practice a little until you get the hang of it.

There are two passage ways one on the left and one onto the right. You will need to go to the right first. Get rid of the first set of fireworks that is in the way. And go into the small passage. In there will be some starkos and an item for the hovercraft. Once done, leave the place, then when you get out head to the right. Get rid of the other set of fireworks that is in the way. Or before you through the first one you. Can get rid of the two sets of fireworks to make it easier for you. So when you have done that. There will be another species blocking the way and it is called Crystal anenome. Their names are a bit different but, its better to call them this way. As their original names are confusing to remember. Don’t go trying to walk through it or that will drain your life. First take the picture then attack it on the side not where its spikey bits are sticking out. When you attack it. You will pick up something they are called *crystals* but, is mostly known as *Units* as they call it in the game. A small cutscene will happen before you can carry on. There will be another way to go, but that place will be blocked off. Despite that pey’j will call you to go there. It means you have to find the tools to be able to cut the bars down. So go to the right. There will be another set of fireworks. And you should have a little clue of what to do? If not remember to use the glow worm to knock it down. And also you will see some shiny purple thing that is stuck on the wall, or on the ground. Those are the crystals. Make sure you attack the crystals to get more units, and attack the fireworks to get you to an upper passage. Go up and……A crochax will attack!!! Kill the thing. But, watch out for how it will attack you. Remember press square to dodge. Once killed get the crystals from it, and continue on. There will be another lone cog. Go up and tap X then, go to the mine cart and push it so that you can climb up. Climb up to go to another section in the ancient mine.

Secondary Shaft

Well a scene will happen. You will be facing some enemies before you do so. Try and take pictures of them before you attack, anything that you see worth pictureable take it. Defeat you enemies, there will be a blocked path, get jade and her uncle to step on them. And then carry on to you get to another path.

Ancient mine

You will come to a small place. You should see lockers, a bar that is blocking a path and more. Kick down some lockers and in one on them you should find a *wrench* that will be for pey’j it will help to take down those bars that blocks your way. Save the game on the mdisk before leaving. And pick up anything such as starkos and other items. Get pey’j to break down the bar and to go through it. There will be another map that you will see. don’t take it as you have taken a picture of it before. First don’t go to the right go to the left! Why? Because in there are more species to take pictures of. So when you have done that go on straight to get to another passage way.

Secondary shaft.

You will be back in this path, but beware. A surprise attack will come at you! Defeat, kill and pass through back to the main ancient mine.

Ancient mine.

Now you are back in the main place, remember that bar that is blocking a path? Now that you have the wrench you can break it open. Once you have done that use the vending machine as there is a *PA 1* there to increase your life by one heart. Get that and whatever else that is in the vending machine. Move on by heading down the stairs and shimmy your way to another side. And again the uncle will be left behind for a bit. There will be more puzzles to solve for you in this area. There will be another set of fireworks. Move the mine cart so that when you hit it, that the levier will fall down. When that does happen pey’j will follow you. Then…..another set of crochaxs will appear!!! Quickly go and help pey’j and attack the crochax. Kill them and proceed on, head to the platform so that pey’j can use his jet boots. Then that will lift you up and you will appear on another side of a place. Press the hand switch to open the door so that pey’j can get through. Save the game and cut those bars open. Go through to the final stage.

Main Shaft

Proceed on watch out for the crazy creatures. Why do I say that? Because they are crazy take s picture of it. There are some ways to defeat them but, it is best to attack and kill. Keep going and another set will come and attack you. Kill them, oh there will be another safe point in that area. If you are not able to get to it then just carry on. Go to the long cog to bring down the levier that you will climb on. There will be another vending machine, you don’t have to get anything but, stock up for when you need too. Your path will be blocked by some more crystal anenome. Attack them and carry on. There will be a big one, blocking your path Attack it and then get pey’j to use the jet boots attack. Jump to get across and you should hear some sinister music meaning you are in the right place. Pey’j will tell you that there are two creatures are way in the back. Take a picture of it and after that a cutscene will happen.

2nd boss
You will be fighting your second boss, it is part of the domz so be careful. Make sure to take a picture of it as well. Get pey’j to use his jet boots attack to stop the monster. Then go and attack it constantly until it goes down into one of the holes. Watch out as sometimes it will summon creatures to help him to fight you. This will happen just two times. And also watch out for its air attack you can’t hit it so run and dodge until it is back on the ground again. Keep on getting the uncle to use his jet boots and to attack. Then after sometime the creature should die, it will release another pearl as your prize for defeating it.

Once you have defeated the boss the man who sent you on the mission will reveal himself. That he is from the iris network, and will state his reasons as of why he chose you. This will all happen in another cutscene so when it ends head for the *Pedestrian District* which is at the main canal. When you try to find the Pedestrian district in the main canal, and on the hovercraft, it might get confusing for you. As one side is the pedestrian district, while the other is to the hovercraft races. So watch out for that. The pedestrian square is also confusing to remember. So have a jog around first to know where you will be going, and what places to remember. As you will be going there from time to time, not only that. There are shops there so buy what you need. You should be able to find the *Akuda bar.* Once in, go up the stairs to find *peepers.* But before that you can take more pictures here. Then after that, Talk to peepers and say the password. You will have to play a little game. Keep an eye on what he does to get the answer right. When you do get the answer right a small cutscene will happen. You will gain a ticket to room 3. Put in the password and head in. There will be a sort of looking closest, go in and press X. It will reveal the *Iris Den* then another cutscene will happen, of what is happening to hillys. You will be going on special missions. First you will have to investigate the *Nutriples factory, second is the Slaughterhouse and the third one is the moon.* Beware the slaughterhouse is much harder to do then you would expect. That I will explain further on later, in this walkthrough. So you will gain a pass that can open certain doors in the city for you. So when you are done doing what you have to do, leave the akuda bar. And then head to the *Nutriples Factory* but remember to take some mdisk to keep an update of the news, on whats has happened to hillys so far.

Before you move on with this I would like to give a few tips. When the cutscene finishes you might want to head to *Ming-tzu’s shop.* To by some dectors like for pearl and an animal one as well. You can also by pearls in shops as well as getting from them from bosses as such. So when you buy those look at your map, then use the analong stick to go up and down. If you don’t understand it. heres a picture of it.

When you are done and prepared, head to the factory. Use your compass to guide you out of the city. But before you go there go back to mamagos garage because there is a weapon that you need to get you into the factory. Which is called *Neutralizing Cannon* to get that costs *5 pearls* And guess what happens after when you buy and leave mamagos?

3rd boss
That’s right another one. But this is very much different. You have to dodge the blast that comes from the sky. So you don’t have to shoot, but just dodge. Keep on dodging until the screen is not green anymore and that the boss music stops. When that is done go to the factory.

Go through the main canal again and through the south exit. When you come out go to the left. And you should see it. But be careful though, go in but do not go in fully as there's some sort of guard in the air. When you are a safe distance from it use the cannon to take it down. Its s robot so you can’t take a picture of it. And then go into the factory.

Nutriples Factory

So….your in the factory, park your hovercraft by pressing X and hope onto ledges to get to the top platform. But be careful though. Crochaxs are on the loose.
So they will attack you. Take pictures of them if you can. But do this from a safe distance before attacking. Then you can go attack them. There are two paths to go through. There’s one that is blocked off, and there is one to your right. That’s the one that you need to do. Take a picture of the red coloured beam. (which is the code) and that will be sent to the governor. She will help you with any codes. So if you see one take a picture of it. Once she sends the code to you, put it in and this will lead you to the *Elevator Room*


Elevator room
Get pey’j to use is wrench to open the blocked path for you. Then use jade to kick it fully open. Go to the right you as there is an electrical barrier blocking another path. You will see some sort of exercise thing for jade. First use roll by pressing square then crouch next by pressing L1 or R1. Watch out as there are rats on the floor take a pic of them, then kill them as they will attack you. to your left you should see a hand switch. That is to turn of the red bars. To your right you should see a big box that is what you need to push. Go to the back of it. And then push. Pey’j should come over to help you. Keep pushing until it is on the lower platform. Then continue to push it into the electric bar. When you do that the electric will divert somewhere to else and giving you the chance to pass through. And another cutscene will happen. You will be in the main room and its big. As you can see the elevator is out of service. So you have to fix it. There’s an mdisk reader so make sure you save the game before you carry on. There are two paths to go through. First go through the door by using the hand switch it should say *laboratory * if you went through the other one by accident. Go back and then go through the laboratory.

West Wing
So in this area there are another two paths to go through. The first one is the elevator and the second one is to your right. That leads to the code store room. Theres a pearl in there. So to get it use the pillars to block off the electrical barrier and to divert it. Grab the pearl then leave the room. Once you get back to where you first was, go up to the elevator. Press on the hand switch and…..WATCH OUT! There are small robots that will do a surprise attack on you! So defeat them all and go up the elevator. Get pey’j to use the hand switch which will take you up. Be careful as the road is somewhat narrow. Oh there’s another surprise attack on you. For those who read my guide on the enemy list. This would be a good time to remember what this enemy would be called. You will see a electric barrier and a *Cyclopius*will ambush you. Smash it into the barrier and keep clear so it can explode. When that happens go in to the room that was blocked off. A small cutscene will happen and guess whose in that room? Its Double H! The poor guy is nearly dead! You have to save him and by doing that there should be a big container storage box with a code on it. Take the picture of it and send it to the governor. She will reply back with a code. And also guess what? You will gain a new weapon called the *hand disk* its useful to you in many ways. Remember in the beginning of my walkthroughs that I showed you how to use it? Go into camera mode, press circle to use the hand disk. And kill the thing that is draining the life out of double H! And you will gain another pearl. once that happens another cutscene will occur. Ok now you have gained a new ally. Double H can do more than pey’j can do. Get him to break down those bars. Then go through. You will have to shimmy or slide as you would call it to get to another path. Jump and then there’s a save point. Either save or continue its your choice. And again slide, this will lead you back to the elevator room but that is not where all of the fuzz ends. The next boss will show up!

4th boss
So pey’j is kidnapped…. And you will have to save him. So before the battle takes place, take a good close up pic of the boss before you go into battle. Now you have the hand disk use it to your advantage. First attack the boss. And then it will begin to start jumping to high places. When that happens use the hand disk. Be careful though when he jumps back down he would try to squash then attack you. Move out of the way when that happens, so then you don’t get attacked. When you do that quickly attack him again before he jumps off to somewhere else. Soon he will start to shoot green beams at you. So make sure to dodge it and continue hitting by using the hand disk. Repeat this process until the final blow. Which is when hes on the edge of the platform hit him to set pey’j free and that’s the end of that reaper.

It will release a pearl so what I suggest you doing first is that before you go back to the elevator room go back to the hovercraft to get the pearl. When you get back on the hovercraft go right, which leads to the room that the pearl is in. Bump into the pearl and you will get it. Park the hovercraft again and head to the electrical room to get batteries to fix the elevator.

Electrical room

Watch out though as there is live electrical everywhere. Cross only when the electric diverts to somewhere else, keep doing that until you get to another room. In that room will be a vending machine so buy what you need. Use your camera and look to the sky you should see half a fan broken with a rat sitting on it. You see as there is a hand switch but theres no electric on there? Use the hand disk to divert the electric there so that then the hand switch works. When you do that watch it and be on guard as there will be more enemies to face. Go to the back of the room first before going up to press the triangular switch. There you will see a* triangular key card* which is something that you need. try and see what happens when you reach out for it and….. A *Transport Unit XB 24* will appear! Kill it and take the card and then try to use the card. Not only that more will attack you! Fight them off. smash them into electrical barriers or into themselves to deal the damage. They are quite annoying to beat but it is worth it in a way. when you have done that head to the room that was blocked off. There you will find a PA 1 that will increase your life by 1 point. Then go and use the triangular key it will stop the machine for a limited of time so grab both batteries one on in the front and one in the back, before it starts up to run again. When you have done that, leave the room to go and fix the elevator. When you get back to the elevator room you will see that there’s no power connection to the elevator itself. Use your camera to see where you can get the connection. To use the hand disk. I’m going to link a pic so that it would be easier for you.

< That is where you need to hit it.


So use the camera. Point at where the rat is sitting at in the sky. And then use the hand disk to bring that cable down. The connection should go straight to the elevator. Then put in a battery. And press the hand switch for the lift to come down. Go into the lift and press the hand switch inside the lift, and it will take you up. The lift will break down meaning you can’t go back down. Go to the door and get you and pey’j to open it at the same time. And then….an ambush will happen!!! You know those things that kidnapped the orphans at the beginning and you have to fight them? Well, they reappear here so get your fight on! But before you fight, take a pic of one of them if you can. So once you have beaten them up you should see a platform to jump on use your camera to help you. If you still struggle on that heres a pic of where you have to go next.

So….go and explore this platform keep on going until your path has come to an end. And then head back to pey’j to find the most shocking news. More like sad news…..pey’j is screaming for help! The alpha section guards have found him! Jade will run as fast as she can to get to him. But he gets knocked out and taken away. *Sniffs*

What you do next now is move that cardboard box. Do you see a small kind of disk hole? Once you move that box near the door or onto the door climb up, and use the hand disk to open the door. As you can see there will be a blocked path. And also another mdisk reader will be there. Use that to read the disk that he gave to you. And to be honest it is sad to see…..so save the game before carrying on.

Ming-Tzu's shop... It's exactly where I stopped playing the game because my game always crashed at this point
