Super Mario bros 3 is a Mario classic, simple basic stage designs "levels" ,simple graphics, over Super Mario Bors 3 is a memorable classic Mario game. The story goes a little something like this, Bowser's children"Koopa's" are going all around the Mushroom Kingdom and stealing royal magic wands and turning Mushroom Kingdom royalty in to creatures and it has gotten so bad Toad has been forced to ask Princess Peach to call upon Mario and Luigi for help.Mario and Luigi must set out on another epic quest (either playing as either Mario or you can alternate between Him and Luigi) and chase down a flying ship were the thieving Koopa's have taken the wands and are bent on destroying all of the Mushroom Kingdom.Throughout the game and even on the title screen you will notice something is odd about this Mario game, it's design is very similar to a theaters stage almost as if the game is a stage and Mario and Luigi along with the enemies or "Koopas" are the cast preforming.

Graphics- the graphics facial wise on Mario and Luigi are of decent quality especially since this is a Nintendo N.E.S. game. Mario' & Luigi's facial graphics are pretty basic in design and doesn't really go into much detail. The stages aren't to diverse for each of the worlds you are on, they are of decent quality pixel resolution wise, there is a thin black out line around most of the objects you see and Mario & Luigi themselves. The character movements are basic and some what sluggish. So overall the graphics are halfway decent nothing really special and it is a Nintendo NES game so expectations for graphics were set a tad lower from usual standers to begin with.As I've brought up earlier in the review(the opening) I believe the creators of the game wanted to design the levels or stages almost as if Mario or Luigi were acting out a play as your progress through the game, it makes sense considering the thick black out lines on objects and the fact that the background scenery looks almost as if it's being held up by strings and the backgrounds have this flat 2-D look one would normally see in "play" backgrounds.

Sound-the sound heard in ?Super Mario Bro's 3 is what you would expect from any other Mario game. The soundtrack changes every now and again between stages/levels, the voice actors of ?Mario and Luigi's and Koopa's can be heard in decent quality , with no abnormalities. The sound tracks are basic clean cut quality, nothing special that makes a particular beat ?stand out.

Addictiveness-,well I was very in tuned with the game, it held my attention as well as interest because of its diversity from other Mario games from the franchise. The game has a whole new style map as well as new power items which only added on to the overall appeal of the game. This game had me up well over midnight playing and enjoy all of its stages. But the game does get tired some rather quickly because your basically playing over the same level layout just with minor changes minion/enemy wise.

Story-The story for Super Mario Bro's 3 is quite interesting because its not what you would expect from a typical Mario game.Instead of the usual story of Mario, Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach this time the Mushrooms Kingdoms royalty is being targeted by Bowsers children the Koopa's.Bowser's children(Koopa's) are going all around the Mushroom Kingdom and stealing royal magic wands and turning Mushroom Kingdom royalty in to creatures and it has gotten so bad Toad has been forced to ask Princess Peach to call upon Mario and Luigi for help.Mario and Luigi must set out on another epic quest (either playing as either Mario or you can alternate between Him and Luigi) and chase down a flying ship were the thieving Koopa's have taken the wands and are hell bent on destroying all of the Mushroom Kingdom and it;s up to Mario or Luigi to stop them! So overall new story unlike most of the previous games in the Mario franchise (for once your not saving princess peach ), new enemies and stage design's although there are pretty basic in the style from which they are made.

Depth- well Super Mario Bro's 3 is a very long and open world game with plentiful levels/stages to conquer, especial if your one of those gamers who enjoy beating every aspect of a game.It has various paths to reach the ship on each world/stage, in addition to that There are many mushroom houses you will find and gain access to throughout your journey which inside you do matching or open chests and you power up items, which will have you playing the game for hour without end especial(once again) if your one of those gamers who love to beat every aspect of a game so enjoy!

Difficulty- Well (sigh) the difficulty for Super Mario Bro's 3 is very low, I would say moderate because you can hold up to 3 items in storage for later use, and the Koopa's and stage/level difficulty doesn't really increase as the game gets closer and closer to the end. Beating the Koopa's is basically a cake walk in this and like most Mario games the difficulty is relaxed and really not all that difficult boss battles or even sub boss battles. The level's are fairly easy to clear and doesn't take much skill to beat them. But I suppose depending on which character you use the difficult is different. Like for example I had a tough time beating so level's using Luigi because he naturally jump's higher than Mario making him some what harder to control.

Overall- Super Mario Bro's 3 is a basic style Mario game that doesn't focus so much on graphics quality and focuses more on addictiveness and story. I think any Mario fan would enjoy this game because it really isn't the same as any other game in the Mario franchise(personally I felt in Super Mario Bro's 3 like Mario and the rest of the cast were acting out a play, rather than in the typically Mario game where you feel as though you are part of the story instead of watching a performance) but it's a nice change from the typical plot of your running around trying to save princess Peach, but in stead in this unique Mario game you are going out and exploring the various lands of the Mushroom Kingdom saving Mushroom Kingdom royalty. Bottom line, I truly loved playing this game because the simple graphics quality really made me focus and appreciate the story of the game and it provided day's of entertainment.I'd also recommend playing Super Mario Bors 3 with a partner on netplay, it can be done and I feel individuals would get more enjoyment out of the game if they play with a buddy/friend.

Neo Arcadia : Another great review Arcadia, the only thing I may suggest changing is how you talked about the story in your into but then talked about it later in the review. The best way I look at it is, if you want to talk about the story in the into make it mysterious/sort of hard to figured out exactly so that way it won't sound like you're repeating yourself later on, just some healthy advice from a good friend

sonicthehedgehog57 : I see what you mean lol I didn't mean to word it like that but zi kinda wanted to address the fact that the game resembles a play and I used the story to kind of prove it or rationalize my reasoning for calling it a play. But I do agree with you it seems like I was repetitive with the story because of the comparison.

Also we should netplay on this game sometime ^^, and the game really does seem like a play, in the opening the curtains rise and Mario and Luigi appear and then the background lights brighten the background and a turtle shell along with power items drop almost like props, and it seems like something you would see in a live theater play.
