what is the most money that you have either spent on one game, one purchase of multiple games, or as a gift?

The most I have ever spent on one game and total purchase was 10 dollars when I bought Goat Simulator. The most I have ever spent as a gift has to be 8 dollars.

You actually bought that silly game?!?! Wooooow. Haha. WHo did you purchase it for?

As for me... I honestly have no idea how much -I- have spent on a game...possibly $30, if you mean all at one time.  My husband has spent much more though... $99 for each of us back when we were into Anarchy online.  (That was the year subscription.)

If you mean spread throughout time?  I don't even WANT to think about how much money I spent on farmville when I was young and stupid.  *flushes *

Singelli: The game itself was for me, I have seen so many people play it and say that it was awesome and that I should try it out.

I am happy to say that I have never spent a penny on steam. I've got a couple games that cost money, but I got them all as gifts. I really use steam mainly for chatting, but I sometimes will play Counter Strike or something.

mrfe : I've never understood the concept of owning steam to never actively look for games to buy on there. I can understand if for example you never bought games unless they went on some insane reduction.. But to never buy a game is confusing to me.. It'd be like having a PlayStation or an Xbox but not buying any games for it and hoping that other people give you the games you want instead.

Anyways to the topic at hand. I think the most I've spent on a game is about $50 dollars (maybe a bit more.. I'm not one to actively check the value of the pound to the dollar all the time)

The dearest game I've gifted someone was $30 dollars.

sonicmcmuffin : Except that I'm not dishing out a couple hundred bucks for steam. It's free, and I can play free games all I want. I haven't actually asked for any of the games that have been gifted to me, people have been generous enough to offer them.

It's just a really convenient way for me to chat with people. I don't have to have facebook open to chat with people, and I get a pop-up notification with each message. It's just the most convenient way for me to chat, unless I'm not doing anything important.

I understand.  It just seemed weird to me on a personal level to be "happy" about it.. After all there's many programmes out their that are better than steam when it comes to communicating with friends.

Just for steam?
The most expensive game i bought was £50 ($84) but that wasnt steam.

The most expensive steam game would be one I bought on disk that required steam, probably Rome total war 2, at £40 ($67). It sucked.

The most expensive game bought straight from steam would probably be about £20 ($30) because I never buy games full price. Thats whats sales are for. I rarely buy games on steam now though, you can buy the keys much cheaper. Saw the new wolfenstein for about £15 quid on launch day while steam wanted 40.

I'm such a penny-pincher, but I am willing to spend $ on games I like. The most I ever spent on a game is 5 TF2 keys in a trade, or about $12 at the time. The game was on sale for $20, and I got it for much cheaper. Trading is totally worth it if you have the time and the ability. Reddit's trading community on /r/Steamgameswap is amazing, and even some of the traders on /r/indiegameswap are great.

I, too, got Goat Simulator, but on sale from GMG. It's insanely crazy and fun in short bursts. I haven't tried local co-op yet, though.

I guess I am really a penny pincher, because for all the games I purchased, the most expensive one was the Portal Bundle at $10 bucks... I was waiting for that sale for so long, which is kind of nuts. I waited three months for that sale, and now I own 31 games, and that still is my most expensive game(s) I purchased.
