Since there is no specific place to post this I was told this was good. 
Anyway. I am a Huge board game buff. Anything anytime anywhere. I want to discuss with the people of vizzed  your favorite games. List, discuss, describe. Tell me what to play and why. I have a few good choices for you too. 
Top 3 (If I really had to choose)
1. Wiz War - ever heard of a little game called Magic:The gathering? Well this game, made by Tom Jolley, inspired Richard Garfield to make MTG. It's a dungeon/card strategy game where you try to defeat your opposing wizard while trying to steal their treasures at the same time. The winner is crowned the new Master Wizard. 
2. Mansions of Madness - this one is not for the faint of heart, but I have never had more pleasure with any other board game ever. It's a clue like top view, strategy game. 1-4 investigators pit off against 1 keeper. It is the investigators job to unravel the mystery of the mansion before the keeper can stop them by summoning and conjuring ancient beasts. 
3. Bang! - Italian translated spaghetti western card game. It's deduction. It's mystery. It's back stabbing fun. 
I should review games.. Lol

I've always been a fan of the game Easy Money. It's quite similar when compared to Monopoly, but has a different feel and aesthetic. I also enjoy playing Scrabble as well.

I like this thread. Board games are not talked about too much around here. As a kid I never really played board games, I didn't have anyone to play with the same as now. I have no friends and don't like to play them BUT my wife really likes them so she makes me play sometimes. She really likes that Apples to Apples (or something like that) game and that one where you read off a thing then the person has to say if its true or false. I expect I will be playing alot of board games when my daughter gets older and wants to play.

So, how did you get into board games?

I am not sure if it counts, but my personal favorite is Cards Against Humanity. It is a lot like Apples to Appl... wait, who am I kidding? It is. It is pretty much the same game, except that the cards are printed on black and white paper, and the content of the game is significantly more extreme. It is really only good for those who have an extremely open minded (or messed up, if you think that way). Though it is really fun getting together with a group of about ten people. Any more than that is excessive and often only leads to annoyance.

I actually used to play strategy board games before (you know back when I was hardcore). I played Risk a lot because it made you think and the tide could turn at any second. It's 20% luck and 80% brains. I loved the feel of war and taking out diplomats. I'm a gosh darn monster aren't I? Another game I liked to play was monopoly for some reason. My favourite as a kid was always 'Sorry'.
If you want a game that you can be an absolute jerk to everybody in, this is the game.
Risk was always tons of fun as well, though I've only ever played it at school.
Clue has been my favourite for a long time as well. It's a fun mystery game.

I enjoy board games because the interaction with others is what makes the game.  Risk and strategy games with dice rolls are pretty good but I like the pure strategy games.  Stratego is an easy one.  It takes as much time to set up as it does to play and it depends only on the players' ability to deceive and attack.  Settlers of Catan is another strategy game that involves no dice rolls.  It is based on bartering and salesmanship and long term strategy.  Diplomacy is an older game I had the pleasure of discovering in high school and that's on that is only people talking out their moves and then writing down instructions.  It's a great game if you haven't seen it yet.

Lastly, Puerto Rico is a newer game I found not too long ago.  It's another game that is more about the human interaction and not based solely on the dice rolls.  That's where true fun comes from.

My favorite board game has always been Risk

There are many local competitions and it's always fun to set your friends against each other.

I enjoy Monopoly, but it -can- get tiring after an hour or two. Risk isn't that way. You can play for hours on end, because it always keeps you thinking.

I guess I would say candy land or sorry has I never played a board game in quite a long time.
But Sorry is more fun than candy land because it reminds me a lot of Trouble.
I also remember playing a game I think was called bottlecaps. It was at my babysitters house and was like jenga but used flat circles and was on a platform. You had to remove each piece individually and if one fell you were out.
