So as the poll title says, which do you like better for thanksgiving? Personally we have always had turkey and we really like it since we have one almost every year just for thanksgiving. But some people have a preference towards ham instead which I like too, but I have just never had it for thanksgiving.

So which one do you like better? I like turkey, but it is all your choice. Post your favorite here and be sure to vote.

Turkey of course. I like ham and all but turkey is my favorite food to eat on thanksgiving. So looks like I'm voting for turkey for this poll. Good thread.

Ham is good but Turkey is better. That because turkey is bigger and more tasty than ham.

Turkey has tryptophan in it, which puts me to sleep quick. I like to party on thanksgiving(unfortunately not this year), so I prefer ham. I think it tastes better than turkey.

I usually eat steak for thanksgiving, because thanksgiving is about appreciating what you have, and I appreciate the ability to buy a nice juicy steak.

I know a lot of people are pretty big on the turkey tradition, but I can't help enjoying ham a lot more. Thanksgiving is probably one of the few days I would choose turkey over ham, and that's simply to keep traditions with my family.  Then again, turkey should be a lot healthier, I believe....

I didn't have turkey OR ham this Thanksgiving. I had a roasted chicken from Wal-Mart because Jason had pneumonia and we couldn't go anywhere.  lol

Singelli :

That's not bad at all, the rotisserie chicken from wal mart is delicious, it is just very flavorful and good. Out of all the ways to have chicken, I like rotisserie and grilled chicken the best. Fried is okay, but it isn't my favorite. But with some mashed potatoes, it is just delicious. Ham is good too, even though I have never had it on thanksgiving, I have always liked it more. And I agree they should try to make turkey healthier to eat, I hate how it makes you really drowsy afterwards, but that is just from the tryptophan it has in it .

I seem to prefer turkey over ham since the tradition takes over my preferation. Every year we get a turkey, always have. I just like it that way.

I agree with pac here, thanksgiving dinner just isn't the same without some nice turkey on mah plate! We had ham one year, when 'those' aunt and uncle were responsible for the main course. It was just meh, though I'll never turn down a good piece of ham.

Awesome- Kid: I agree with you in a sense, it is very traditional to have turkey. But then again everyone is different, I like ham but I have almost always had a nice big turkey for thanksgiving. They are both good in my opinion, but it just seems like some people have their preferences.

pacman1755 : Same here, I just have a preference towards turkey.

mrfe : You are absolutely right! It isn't the same without it! A good ham is a good ham, but turkey is turkey, if you know what I mean XD

Ham is more of a typical type of food, It just doesn't feel as fresh to eat as The general Sweet and good Turkey on your thanksgiving plate.

I prefer turkey over ham only on thanksgiving, I mean come on. It's just not the same without having turkey.

My family has always had turkey for Thanksgiving, but I always prefer ham over turkey. Ham is more flavorful and it just tastes better. It's way easier to carve, being one piece of the animal and having only one bone. They make better and easier sandwiches than turkey because you can just put in one or two big slices instead of potentially having to cut or tear off lots of small pieces that will probably fall out of the sandwich. Turkey dries out more easily that ham does, meaning you can buy ham pre-cooked and heat it up for a shorter time than you cook turkey. I think ham's perks compensate for not being able to stuff it.
Turkey may be traditional and more popular for Thanksgiving, but overall, I prefer ham.

My family always has turkey for Thanksgiving. I prefer it over ham. Mainly because every time I've had ham someone else makes it, and apparently nobody around here can cook it properly. It always comes out really dry. I like putting leftover turkey in sandwiches also. I like both the dark, and white meat.

Turkey is tradition and it was almost an American symbol.  Ben Franklin lobbied for the turkey instead of the bald eagle back in the day.  Turkey also, when cooked, is the most moist, most wonderful food in the world.  You cook stuffing inside it, you can eat the neck and the giblets, and the gravy that comes from the juices?  My lord!

Turkey can also be done up in soup, sandwiches, loafs, and other foods.  It's flexible, it's impressive to see someone carve a turkey, and it is the cornerstone of Thanksgiving where I come from.

I want to see ham be that versatile.

I would have to say that I love ham more. I used to always like turkey more but over the past 2 years my like for turkey has decreased and I just like ham so much more. I guess it's just one of those taste bud things, you know? This usually applies to all occasions with me..

I've always loved turkey, and preferred it over ham. Especially on Thanks giving. Not to say that I don't love ham, too. It's a close call, but I prefer turkey.
