You know, when I was walking around outside earlier today, it suddenly dawned on me..... aren't there any lovers of photography here on vizzed?  Is there a reason no thread exists in which we can show off our shots?

I personally wish I had the time to make photography into a professional hobby. I'd love to take classes and become a pro, but I don't have the time or money.  Instead, I take a few good shots with my camera here and there.  I have.... TONS to share, but let's start with just a few.

Of course, they're a little better when they are the original size and not shrunk, but these are a few of my favorites.

This is my kitten Moki, btw. We took her camping; we're in a tent and she's sitting on a pile of things we put up so she could look outside. I thought the composition turned out pretty good.

I'll have to load up a few other pictures. 

BTW, I love the butterfly picture, Singelli. That's beautiful, and I love how it's not too close-up. Very nice.

Those are really great, but I love the black and white of the house. It's so complex, but simple...the way you photographed it at kind of an angle gives the whole photo a really unique look. You're really a good photographer; I think you should try to go professional with it. I think you have the eye.

I have a ton of cool shots that I really like. I find myself when traveling for work taking a bunch of random pictures. Sometimes I get lucky and they turn out pretty cool.

None of these are very high resolution or that great of quality but I liked them for one reason or another. Most of them were taken by one of my phones.

I do LOVE black and white photography.  I had a sepia toned version of that house photo, but I think I like the black and white better.  Unfortunately, all these photos I took were with an older camera, several years ago.  It has since quit capturing photos with clarity, which saddens me DEEPLY.  I really, really enjoyed taking photos, and it was one of those bulky cameras which you could do tons of lens adjusting on.  I have never studied photography though, so it's not like I swapped the actual pieces on my camera or anything like that...  I just used what my camera came with.

I have often wished I had the time and money to take classes, though I fear the technological aspects would be too much for my small brain.  As it is,  I just recently bought a camera (finally deciding to be brave and get over the death of my old one).  I didn't have the money to go for anything fancy though, so it's a simple gray Nikon that fits into the palm of my hand.  I haven't been able to play with it much, and although it takes beautifully clear images, it just does not have the capability my old one did.

As I said... I wish I had the money..... It's something I would have loved, I think.... even though I don't really have much of an artistic bug.

In any case, thank you so much for your kind words.  

Also, I'm still looking forward to other people submit to this thread.  *hint hint*

The next photo looks like a vacation ad photo.  It looks absolutely surreal. How did you get such an amazing shot?
LOVE the colors on the next photo.  What ARE those things on the ceiling?!
LOVE The shadow on the building in your fourth to last photo. I can't imagine capturing that, and I wouldn't have been able to resist the shot either.  What fun!

Singelli : I do get to go to a lot of different cities for work. They are all much more exciting the first few times you go there ;-)

Anyways as far as your questions go.

That picture was from my hotel room at the Marriot in San Diego. Just taken from the window ;-)

That picture is from the part of the Casino at the Bellagio. I believe they are made out of blown glass.

That shadow picture was eerie. I saw it down a side street while walking down Bourbon Street in New Orleans last fall. I just had to take it.

The Black and White tree was taken on a bright sunny wonderful day in Seattle right next to the Space Needle

I'm glad you enjoyed them. I have a ton more that I will have to go through some time.

I really like them all but one of my favorites is the 3rd from the last one that I took in a blizzard here a few years ago. The lighting is just so weird. Looks like the sky is brown when in fact it was pitch black ;-) The snow in the foreground is crazy too

For me, unfortunately, I can only make use of a camera phone right now. While they are amazing in their abilities, it's nothing compared to a true camera.  It'd be awesome to take photos of the same caliber I was able to before.

However, I think I've taken some pretty good ones over the past several months with my new phone, and I thought I'd share some of my favorites.

Wow... I have to say that your shots are really amazing!  Did you take those with a cell phone or a camera?  I really like the special effects on some of the photos.... even if you didn't mean for them to appear that way.  A couple of them even look pretty professional! I don't think I've ever taken pictures of people posing, so these were fun for me to look at. Thanks for sharing!
