Life is so precious.  No matter what walk of life you come from, I'm sure you can at least agree with me on this.  So many happenings are beyond our control and it can be difficult not to take what we have for granted.

Just earlier this year, a young mother died suddenly in the early morning from a ruptured vein in her neck.  She was perfectly healthy and had never exhibited signs of pain or discomfort.  She happened to be the mother of two long lost friends of mine, and I remember sitting and thinking about the fact that their mother was a few years younger than my own.  NOBODY expects to lose their mother at that age and it caused me to shed quite a few tears. I had spent nights at the woman's house, she had a huge impact on bringing me to the Lord, and she was always generously giving.  Her death hit me hard and brought me to a reality I didn't like all that much:  We never know the hour.

Even recent headlines are trying to remind us of this preciousness of life.  Tragic events happen every day, and most of them are unexpected.  We never know when that goodbye will be a last, or when a kiss on the cheek will never be had again.  We spend our lives wrapped up in computers, games, shopping, and other self- pleasures.

Even ~sakura~'s fate is unknown and we can not be certain of how she fares.

To respect both the deceased and the living, I'd like to suggest a candlelit vigil or a moment of silence, of sorts..... a day of silence on vizzed in which we spend time reflecting on recent events, past events, loved ones near, and loved ones far.  I think it'd be awesome if we'd just step back for just ONE day and find some way to honor these people.  We can pray, go offer community service, or spend a surprise visit with someone we love.... just to show them we appreciate them, love them, and aren't taking their presences for granted.

So however you spend it in your own special way, I'd like us to hold ONE day in which we make no posts whatsoever.  We can log in and read around or whatnot so that site traffic does not fall.... but I'd really like us all to just spend ONE day with people we value, completely and selflessly focused on them.  I'd like to spend one day in silence, where we don't even make one post, and we can come back here to reflect on what we did or thought about.

I suggest December 28th.

What harm will one day do?  You never know when one day will be someone's last.

While I agree with the sentiment of taking moment to respect and appreciate life... to value what it's worth... I'm not sure if I'll be able to take a day off from posting for this. It's really iffy. As a moderator, posting is technically part of my responsibility. Of course, the less people who post on that day, the less likely I will have any need to post... but I'd hafta play that by ear.

Also not sure what David would think of the idea of 0 posts on his board for a day >.>

I'm not saying all of vizzed participate.  LOL  Just those interested.

And yeah, I thought you might be able to afford just one day off, but I understand.

If you could remind me the day before, as I have a bit of a scatter brain, I could easily participate in this as well.

The young mother with the ruptured vein... brought shivers to my spine. How easy a life can be lost is one of many worries that float in my mind.

ruesen :  I planned on summoning everyone the day before to remind them.

I actually thought about summoning you here, but was uncertain how you'd feel about it.

And yes.. I remember when I saw the post on facebook (I had an account back then), I ... couldn't believe it.  One of the daughters posted something along the lines of "Mother went to see Jesus this morning." and that was it.  I did some looking into it, discovered the truth and.... I  cried in shock for days.  Even now it's making me tear up.

Singelli : I am sorry to hear that, I remember I had a brother, he was amazing. He was that "wanted" child who had straight A's (He motivated me to skip fifth grade-- which I did) and was really athletic. He also spoke Russian, and was good with talking to girls... Unfortunetly, he was out driving one night and a drunk driver crashed into his car and he died and the drunk driver lived. I felt so bad I didn't go to his funeral-- I was in denial to accept what had happened and refused to go to his funeral... I know how you feel, because it's those things you don't expect that turn out to be horrible.

Haha, I can understand that. I do not see a problem with something as simple as not posting for a day to honor the memory and life of someone.

My condolences to the family and hope that the mother is in a better place now.

Singelli : Like I said... I'll hafta play it by ear. It depends on the forum activity and needs that day. I'm a little paranoid because I was well under quota for mod actions last month, so I can't very well ignore something if it needs to be addressed.

I'll probably not be posting any kind of generic chit-chat that day anyway or other stuff that's just conversational. I'll hold off any posting unless I have to for mod-related stuff.

H - Hey! I'm into this too....
Mostly, I support this idea. Tears usually come to my eyes, especially after the School massacre in Connecticut, when death to someone occurs. I've seen it too, trust me~
Anyone who posts gets a warning, maybe?~

Thank you so much for summoning me. I really love this idea. I genuinely wept while reading this. I actually stopped halfway through to go to tell my mom how much I loved her, and hug her. I was thinking earlier about getting so wrapped up in computers and games that I sometimes forget what's important. I love this idea, and I am in 100%. Thank you for reminding us all to remember how fragile life is, and to love our family and appreciate what we have, in a world that tells us we never have enough.

I rarely post on the forum, so it'll take no effort from me whatsoever. However, I suggest we choose a day next month, just so things can be a bit more organized and all, plus VCS is ending soon and that'd effect quite a few people.

Maybe Jan. 4th instead, perhaps? Helps with those who need mod quota as well, Nya~

MegaRevolution1 :

I agree with this idea. A day next month would work better for me. I'll be less concerned with my mod quota in January because January is a dead month for me at work unlike this month. Though this isn't about me so I won't be selfish and ask it be moved just for my sake :p but if enough people agree on a different date, I don't think there's a problem with that. Either way, it's the thought that counts, I think?

Singelli : I agree with you. I see no harm whatsoever in doing anything to remember our friends, family and others who are deceased and or to think of those who are going through difficult times. I know that we’ve all been in those shoes at one time or another and I think it would be very good for the community to come together for something like that. I agree with you.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
