Singelli : I mean, if you're arms are shaking that could be a good sign that you should take a break. I was just saying to, how to put this, push yourself until you can't push yourself any further. I don't mean ending up in a puddle on the floor, but just motivate yourself to do one more. There's always a point where you just have to stop, but unless you can't do another you can... With good motivation, that is. That probably made zippo sense, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

I think he might be referring to the "head standing Push-up."
the one where your hands are on the floor and the feet are vertical. Where the the head should be when standing normally. (Jackie Chan Does a few of those in "Rumble in the Bronx".)
Either that or Bruce Lee's famous "Finger Push Ups" come to mind. (Folks please do not try this at home without a good healthy body to begin with. It is not for the easily broken person.)

"Sigelli" I hope you are JUST pushing. ...NOT breaking. Going an extra few reps or mile is normal and recommended. Getting silly is not.

"Thing1"? I hope you have passed your last few P.T. Tests. Sorry I have not responded. (My gut tells me you really don't need advice.)
I use a microwave to time my Daily push-ups and sit-ups. (Bonus: you get a snack after.)
The "Forman Grill" works too. (Time for a raw steak to meal is 4:00 minutes on average.)
The Run on the other hand just takes an every other day outing to maintain. (Bare Minimum of two Runs per weak.) Though I suspect you already have everything taken care of. I just decided to post this for others who might need a tip or two.

Good Luck To All.
I'm done. Stick a fork in me.
Peace.

Sandwhiching I see. I feel ya since it has been a wasteland here

Today I went out for a jog in the cold and my bad leg started to hurt a lot. No more jogging or running for a while. Also, 2!, yes 2, chinese pushups. Felt the burn and the rest of the day was just Tv, abs, and subway.. mostly abs and subway, a nice meatball sub with shredded cheeze and tomato sauce yum. Now hungry and want some buffalo chicken.

So, I'm very sad that this thread seems to have died out.  None of my fitness accountability partners are checking up on me, and I'm not checking up on them. It's horrible!

I didn't do much today, but I at least completed the following:
100 skull crushers (10 pound weight)
50 sit ups
100 lunges (but I increased my normal lunge stride length to make them more difficult)
10 chair dips
4 wide armed push ups

Also, I did a lot of jogging in place while doing the dishes and other things.  I know that sounds weird, but I hate just standing their doing dishes, so I usually jog in front of the sink while doing them.  It's not as hard as it probably sounds.

I really want to hear from you all, and even take on new accountability partners if anyone is interested.  When this thread died out, I really began to slack, and I need to get back into that habit.

Some of the oldies?

How have you guys been doing?  I know some of you told me you would drop out, but can I get an occasional update?  As odd as it sounds, it really does help and motivate me.  ^.^

Don't feel obligated to respond though.  I'm not trying to force you to!

I joined this to keep track of some training for a triathlon.  I finished ( I won the thing) and I'm setting up for my program for my sub 4 hour marathon in the fall.

I keep track a few different ways but this still feels like I'm bragging with what I do.  Does anyone else get motivated to hear I ran 7 miles in an hour?

My only suggestion is for everyone else to get away from the strength training and focus on cardio.  Go walk for an hour.  Or thirty minutes at least.

I don't need a check-in, is all.  That's the only reason I'm not coming on here.  I incorporate fitness into my daily lifestyle.  I work at a gym and lunch is spent swimming laps or playing basketball.  I get there early to go run.  I run with my wife and I play sports on teams.  I have the stats and I'm in excellent shape.

it's simply not necessary for me and I don't feel I'm motivating others.  I moved on.

Keep at it, Singelli.  You're doing a good job.  Keep working and watch the food and you'll drop your weight.

Sorry about that. My mom spent a week in the hospital, and I ended up spending literally every moment of my life there. After that, work was cut down to about three hundred dollars in two weeks, due to an injury, so yay it's moving time again. For some reason landlords seem to expect rent money, which just can't happen on that kind of pay. So, long story short, it will be a bit, but I will be back in the habit when I'm able. Still, I know as long as I'm willing, excuses will present themselves.
That wasn't meant as an attack on you, thing1. Your's is legit. I'm sorry to hear that, and I hope everything turns out well, man.

Singelli :    Hey sorry for forgetting about this thread. I feel very pleased with myself because this past Saturday I did 45 minutes on this mechanical bike thing and accomplished a little over 9 miles. I have also joined the track team at school so I'll be doing a little running to make up for what I miss while because I usually throw shot put and discus.

I personally had a rough time motivating myself for two reasons one because it was boring and two because I had trouble fitting in time into my scheduled. So for the boring part I started parkour and swimming to motivate myself to get better and I wrote them down and taped it onto my mirror to remind myself why I wanted to get better also I started mixing up exercises like swimming drills on Monday and Friday strength training on Tuesday and Thursday and on Wednesday and Saturday some parkour training this makes things more fun. Then I had to find time in the day to exercise so I started doing v ups and push ups during youtube or television ads and the time really adds up in the end. So in the end it's about finding what works for you.Just don't make excuses for why you can't constantly exercise. Hope this helps.

February 18, 2013I ran for a whole 2hours and then ran up and down for 30 minutes before my legs got tired

That day was the last time I did a bit of excercising. I am now just roaming these days in a wheelchair for whatever long it takes.

becerra95:  I hope you heal quickly.

I was going through some exercises today and thought I'd ask the opinions of all you experts out there.

First, when doing sit-ups, what is the appropriate distance between butt and feet?    To me, having my butt closer to my feet makes it harder due to the female anatomy, but does that mean it's more productive?  It's not very comfortable, but if it does more for your body, I'm all for it.  My knees are probably a little over half their bent height when I do sit-ups comfortably.

....
Well dang. I know I had another question, but now it completely slipped my mind.  I've been sitting here thinking and thinking, and I can't remember what it was.... grrr....  :/

*sighs* Maybe I'll think of it later.

Bad news:
I haven't been exercising so much lately.  I lost my motivation, and while I realize motivation should be intrinsic, I'm struggling with that part, and fitness accountability partners was helping me to a great extent.  Is anyone else on vizzed interested in agreeing to a set of work outs and doing those together, then checking up on each other?  I mean, what do I have to do??  Pay someone weekly viz?  Because I will if that's what it takes....

Good news:
For the MOST part, I've been drinking straight water for about 4 weeks now.  Aren't you guys proud of me?

Today's fares:
Not much, as I suddenly got the lazy bug and wanted to just snuggle into my couch and do absolutely nothing.  However, I did complete 150 skull crushers with a 10 pound weight (in sets of 10, 20, or 30).... and 70 sit ups (usually in sets of 10).

Singellii said this is place to be for motivation. I need your help guys. I was in amazing shape around this time last year and started slacking big time around September. I am a ex amateur kickboxer so I know what I need to do to get back to the same shape I was in. I just need to do it. If anyone has any questions about lifting, cardio, and to a small extent diet let me know. I can help. Please don't think I am sounding like a jerk but I am down to a sloppy 185-190 for all the wrong reasons(Stress, poor diet, missing meals, SMOKING!!!!). In my prime I was a lean 205 with 6% body fat on a 6'2" frame. But that was at 22. I turn thirty next month and I miss that feeling of being in great shape with tons of energy.  I have a routine in place ready to go I just need to execute!

mgriffith27 : Hey, that's pretty impressive. I'm needing to get back into the routine of working out and such again myself. We can help motivate each other.

Alrighty, I'm finally back.
Today I only managed to get calorie count done. 1,200 in, 14,00 burnt. I did grab a few hours of walking time.

I'll be more into it tomorrow.

Well this week so far has been a wash. Work was crazy with the midwest snow storm that hit a few days ago. I work for FedEx and snow is our worst enemy. I'm gunna try to get on the horse tomorrow. But at the end of the day I'm still just making excuses. How's everyone else coming along? Good I hope!

Yesterday was crazy for me. However, I did manage to come out ahead (losing weight is my only goal right now. I'll work on strength and such later) somehow.

1,600 calories consumed, 1,800 burned.

I'll definitely need to step up my game though. Yesterday was just a bad day. : At least I managed not to fall behind.

We need some more people to post in here, lest the ones posting now be forced to stop after a few more posts, to avoid spamming.

Singelli : help? lol

This deserves a bump.

So an update on my status... I am finally off all profiles (what the Army gives you when you are hurt to limit what you are allowed to do, so you can get better), thank goodness. (I will be making a thread about an update on my back soon, if you were one of those that were following that story...)

So, I was finally able to take a P.T. Test last week, and I passed it.

I have been able to participate in P.T. Fully. The thing is... running with other people in formation. I
have to run at my pace, and I can barely do more than 2.5 miles before I have to fall out of formation, and take it easy for a minute, then catch back up, only to repeat this over and over again until we get back.
