I'm sorry if this thread is really similar to an existing thread or a dupe, if so please remove it.

The most disturbing and disgusting horror movie (technically it could be called a gore or slasher film, but we'll just stick to the wider genre of horror) I've ever seen, is a French film called Martyrs. There are full-on torture scenes; the entire thing is filled with suffering and depravity. It's actually done pretty well, that is why it's disturbing instead of stupid and campy. The underlying message is pretty interesting too, but I don't recommend this film unless you are prepared to stomach some sickening imagery.

Bug is also a really disturbing film. I found it particularly disturbing because there are many scenes to do with teeth-pulling, which I have nightmares about. Similarly, don't watch this unless you are prepared to see some gross creepy stuff.

Another that comes to mind is the needle pit scene in Saw II, where a girl in Jigsaw's game has to crawl into a pit filled with dirty heroin needles. That was one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen in a movie. I have a huge fear of needles.

Paranormal Activity scared me pretty badly for a few nights after I watched it. I read about the occult and "paranormal" a lot, including demons, hauntings, exorcisms, etc. While I don't really believe in any of it, being home alone in the dark bothered me because I was paranoid and thinking about demons. xD

So Vizzed, tell me about the horror movies you've seen that disturb you the most.

Admittedly I don't watch too many scary movies, as I somewhat of a coward, but the scariest one that I have watched was The Grudge.

They're one of the most commonly used horror movie things, but jump scares still really terrify me!

I couldn't walk around in the dark for a few days after I watched it, for fear of bumping into it.

It takes a lot to disturb me and make my skin crawl, but I can think of three movies that did.

1.) The Exorcist. Not any of the sequels or the remakes. I mean the original 1973 masterpiece. That movie scared me so badly I was afraid to go to the bathroom by myself. But at the same time I love the movie because it disturbed me so much. There are so many scenes in the movie that are terrifying, but masterfully done. For example, the crucifix scene (anyone who's seen the movie knows what I'm talking about) is deeply disturbing and scary, but you can't help but feel a little bit of awe at how well it was put together.

2.) A Clockwork Orange. After I watched the Exorcist, no movie scared me anymore...until I saw this one. It may not seem all that scary to some people, but for a psychology buff like me, the movie is terrifying. The main character Alex does and says so many things that make him a terrifying character. The "Singing in the Rain" scene had to be the scariest part of the movie because of the whole set up. Alex sings that cheerful song while performing a terrible deed (not gonna say what because I don't want to give anything away), but take my word that it's scary as hell. On top of that, you get to see inside of Alex's head, and for someone who knows a lot about psychology, getting inside the head of a serial killer is both fascinating and flat out scary.

3.) Splice. Only two scenes in the movie disturbed me. One was the controversial sex scene between Adrian Brody's character and the spliced human. My skin crawled as soon as it happened and I almost had to turn away from the screen. The second scene was a rape scene which I can't really explain without giving away a lot of stuff in the movie, so let's just leave it at that.

But other than those three, I can't think of any that disturbed me very much.

The Exorcist. Now that movie gave me the willies. I don't watch too many horror movies due to me not liking them. It doesn't thrill me to get my heart going. But The Exorcist is one I watched, and it scared the pants off of me.

I love watching horror movies. I think the hills have eyes 1 is very disturbing. Paranormal activity was pretty disturbing just because when the lady was in her kitchen by herself and all the cabinet doors just flung open, still gives me chills lol. Their is an old movie from the eighties called Hemogoblin about these creatures who live underground. The creatures are inbred cannibals and one of their ascendants tracks his family history and learns a shocking truth, a very disturbing and terrifying movie but worth watching. Oh and the original poltergeist is disturbing especially at the end when the husband finds out why his house is haunted. One of my favorites is House of a thousand corpse's by Rob Zombie.

jlh : Yeah, Hills Have Eyes was disturbing, but probably not as much as it could have been. Unfortunately someone spoiled the whole thing for me before I saw it so maybe that's why I didn't think it was *that* bad. xD

I think the scariest part of The Poltergeist is the clown in the child's bedroom. I watched that in broad daylight with my friends and it still scared me.

The parts of Paranormal Activity that disturbed me the most *SPOILER ALERT* was the chick standing next to the bed in the middle of the night, her being dragged down the hallway, and her screaming on the bottom floor of the house while her husband was upstairs. EW

I love to watch horror movies every time I get the chance my goal is to find one that scares me so bad I can't sleep.... Oddly enough the only movie that ever made it to where I couldn't sleep was the first Jurassic Park when I was about six... I kept having a bad dream about the scene where the people are behind the waterfall but my mom and dad and me were behind it and the big T-Rex ate my parents.... lol

My situation is strangely similar to that of the first poster. I was never big on horror movies in the first place, and then I was shown the Grudge when I was in 5th grade. Scariest stuff ever and still haunts me to this day. After that I saw the Ring, which was laughable in comparison.

While I never really get disturbed or scared from horror movies (I usually get a laugh out of them, actually), Insidious did have one scene that scared me a bit.

It caught me off gaurd. Really didn't expect it coming at all, Nya~.

(Looking back at the picture now, I literally burst into laughter by looking at the facial expression of the Demon xD)

The most disturbing horror movie i have ever seen is the human centipede. It does not get much more brutally disgusting and disturbing than that... Except maybe for it's sequel hahaha.

Horror movies never really scare me all that much but there are a few movies that when I was a kid I found disturbing.

The main one would be the exorcist. I hated that movie and it scared the crud out of me when I was little. I also hated Pink Flyod's "The Wall" when I was a kid. The music was scary to me (when I was like 5) and there was all sorts of crazy stuff going on.

As an adult I remember being pretty disturbed watching the first "Saw" movie. Watching it now I just find it cheesy as heck but the first time I was disturbed.

Jordanv78 : Haha, that's funny about The Wall. That's understandable.
When I was little, I watched Alien without realizing that it was going to have 'monsters' in it. I had to leave the room after the baby alien burst out... I was so disturbed, I had never seen any movie that gory before then. The thought of aliens laying an egg inside me was also very freaky; I was like eight years old and it was hard to sleep for a few days after that.

I don't usually watch Alien scary movies as they're too surreal for my taste... however, The Fourth Kind ,which I watched along 3 other guys and a girl, had us hugging the pillows all the way- at some point of the movie I left out a tear. I mean,(spoiler-spoiler) when the guy is in bed all paralytic and suddenly starts raising up and the scream, man oh man' - Cheers

One of the most disturbing parts that I have seen in an horror movie
was in an movie called " See No Evil " . There was a part when the killer
found the girl's hiding spot and pulled her out of it and made her swallow
her own sell phone and she died from choking on the sell phone. The
way he shoved it in her mouth and made her swallow it made my skin crawl
for about an good minute. The killer had found her because her phone had
rang. Talk about lucky .

Wildex : I've seen that movie as well, and I thought it was pretty darn creepy. I usually dislike movies where the premise is that it really happened, because that somehow makes me feel more skeptical towards it and I get less absorbed by the story. That being said I still thought it was well-done and there were definitely some chilling parts. I think watching it in the middle of the night helped. XD
Wildex : I've seen that movie as well, and I thought it was pretty darn creepy. I usually dislike movies where the premise is that it really happened, because that somehow makes me feel more skeptical towards it and I get less absorbed by the story.
