I got chased by a pit bull last year it was trying to bite me but some pit bulls can be nice but just to be safe if you see one running down a hill imediently run toward your house this is just a heads up because I almost got bit by one I was running in circles

I understand where people come from when it comes down to being afraid of a dog that has a bad rep. I had never been around one till one was dropped on my porch. I love dogs. But I was pretty unsure about taking care of her. But I did and have never loved a dog as much as I did my pit bull. She was the most wonderful dog I could ask for. I believe it all depends on how they are brought up to be. I showed her nothing but love and that's what I got back. But there are those dogs that run wild because the owners leave them out with no leash or anything to fend for themselves and become wild. Like any responsible owner should have some kind of obedience training. Another note is smaller dogs are more known to bite then a larger dog is. I have been bitten by a Boston Terrier. I don't hate the breed because of the one dog. I blame the owners for not putting him up when I told them the dog had been nipping at me several times before he bit me. Not the dogs fault, he just wanted to play too rough. All dogs are capable of biting. It just depends on what kind of person you are about disciplining.

But people have used them as guard dogs because of their raw power, thus giving them their bad reputation.

Any dog can be vicious (well not any!), it's how their raised.

I don't think they are no, my personal thoughts on it is that pitbulls are just naturally protective.
They are only deadly if you raise them to be that way. A lot of dogs get stuck with the deadly title, like Doberman's and German Shepard's.
But it all boils down to the same thing, dogs will protect their owner if they see they need help. In most cases anyway lol

I have a Pitbull, she won't harm anything (In-fact a neighbor's kid was slapping my pitbull and she just sat there until I hit that little **** and he ran off.) Most people are afraid of her because some say that they don't like dogs, and some time later I see them petting a different breed of dogs. There's no love for pitbulls in the state I'm in.

I don't think pitbulls are always deadly. A dog is like it's owner: If the owner is mean, the dog may be mean, but if the owner is nice, the dog may be nice (I don't own a dog anymore, but I have read Shiloh).

Today in the elevator of my building some neighbour of mines pit bull licked my face after I grouched down to give it a scratch, after he or she wanted to buddy up to me. (the usual oh hello things dogs do) The owner said to the dog "oh, you really are everybodys friend, aren't you". Who knows, maybe she was disapointed the dog did not bite me on the neck.

I recently seen 2 videos. 1 was a German Shepherd biting a dog whisperer and another was a Husky killing a possums. More prove that all dogs can be dangerous. I once had a Rottweiler (Which r also labeled as dangerous dogs) and got loose 1 time. but he never caused n e problems.
