Was watching this video about a pit bull wandering around the suburbs, but hasn't bitten anybody. It was wandering around a school playground, but didn't bite any kids. The owner said it has never bitten anybody, and from the looks of the pit bull, it looked sweet and innocent. Some people assume all pit bulls are dangerous pets, but only if you treat them like vicious animals. With the right care and treatment, pit bulls can be family friendly. The pit bull on the video jumped over fences, but never did anything to anybody. People just judge too much. You see 1 pit bull biting a person, they think the most innocent looking pit bulls will do the same, but looking at it, the pit bull looks like just any ordinary dog. So the question is, do you think all pit bulls are dangerous pets? Because IMO, they really aren't. Treat them like any other dog, not wild animals you see at the zoo.

Yes I believe they are deadly indeed, however that doesn't mean I don't like them or whatever. There's a big difference between being aware of potential danger and fearing that danger.

No, they are not dangerous. of course ALL DOGS can be dangerous. doesnt matter what type (even chihuahuas)
it only depends on how the owner treats them.
I think it's stupid how people judge a type of dog just because of what they see a different one did

I personally don't like pit bulls or how they look, but I do know that they can be peaceful like any other dog. There might be something in their breed that makes them a bit more aggressive than other dogs. But honestly, you can anger any other breed of dog as fast as you can anger a pit bull.

I like pitbulls but mainly a dogs aggression is due to how their owner raised them, Pitbulls are mainly bred for dog fighting which is rather barbaric in my eyes.

If you loved a pitbull and taught it the difference between right and wrong then they can be lovely pets

My dad was going to get his friends pit bull and I was kind of nervous about it because he isn't exactly a puppy, you know. If I get a dog, usually I'd want to raise it up myself.

Pit bulls have a bad and highly undeserved reputation. Back in the day, pit bulls were what people used in illegal dog fights because they are very powerful dogs. But by no means are they considered remotely the most aggressive. As a matter of fact, there are far more reports of German Shepherds attacking people than pit bulls by far. Put bulls look intimidating. If you see a vicious pit bull, blame the owner, not the breed.

I am sort of scared of them, but I would never admit that to my dad. I don't think he was buying my story though, because he constantly asks me if I'm afraid.

No. I don't believe Pit Bulls are "dangerous" in the context most people take it in. A lot of people take the term "dangerous" to mean that the dog will attack anyone and everyone without hesitation. This is not the case. All dogs can be dangerous with their claws, powerful jaws, and sharp teeth, but that doesn't mean they are killers.

In fact, my whole life I have only had one kind of dog bite me in anger. That was a mean little Chihuahua. I have owned / come in contact with several Pit Bulls. I've never even had one growl at me much less bite me. They are generally gentle and loving dogs. They are just given a bad rep by heartless owners who treat them badly.

There are plenty of Dogs that can be "deadly" but don't ever hurt anyone. It really just has a lot to do with how the dog was raised/treated. I think it's crazy to just put down dogs because they can be dangerous. Does that mean the same thing applies to Dobermans, German Shepards or Rottweilers?

The mere notion that the media portrays ALL pitbulls as deadly and that if you see one, you will be savagely attacked, is bulls***. We used to own a pitbull and he was one of the loveliest dogs you'd ever meet. He used to play fight with me all the time, through all his life he never harmed anyone.

I believe the assumption is ridiculous as an owner. My dog is a very sweet dog which would just rush up to you to get adored. I do however, understand people that are not familiar with my dog may be afraid because of her size and power. Honestly, any dog can bite and injure a person. The only case I personally know was with a spaniel, but that was because someone was teasing him in hot weather. If you see an aggressive dog it is the owner's fault, not the dog's.

I'm actually sacred of pitbull's because I see them as creature's that
like to chase after you and bite your butt or something. I don't like
going near them when I see people walking theirs in the streets .

I think the general consensus here is that Pit Bulls are basically like any powerful dogs, and that the owner is the main issue in most cases. I agree completely, really. The only reason I would be more afraid of a random pit bull than another big or powerful breed is the fact that it is so well known for being dangerous. Since so many people consider them dangerous and aggressive, the people who want dangerous and aggressive dogs are more likely to choose them. Even with that in mind though, I treat them like any other dogs.

In fact, while I was away at University my mother began to foster animals for the local shelter (using my room ). The last one she got was a young, black pit bull which has been named Bambina. She's very excitable, and might hurt you by jumping up on you or something, but I haven't seen her hurt anyone on purpose. I'm quite fond of her, so here's a pic of her when my mom began to foster her: http://imgur.com/ZygYo
That was probably three or four months ago, and she has grown a lot .

Pitbulls have been given a bad reputation because of all the pitbulls people see and hear on T.V. Why can't the T.V broadcast the good in pitbulls? Personally I think a dog is what you make it. I've seen labs go and cross on their owners and tear them to shreds yet we don't hear about that. I think it's time that people start understanding this. I actually almost got kicked out of my apartment because of my pitbull puppy. Thank goodness my landlord saw she was the sweetest thing, granted my rent went up but still I won't complain. I've never seen a pitbull that's mean before. The only reason why Pitbulls are bad, is because they are trained to be bad, that's what I think.

I would say atleast that if you are getting your first dog and you have no experience whatsoever in strong dogs, you should not get a pit bull. Like it was said here,if you get a pit bull he or she will likely be just as lovable as you raise him or her. But. Read about pit bulls, especialy about their jaws if you will. They are really not for everybody especially if you havent had a dog before.

But sure, presonally I have had very nice moments with pit bulls, puppies and adults alike and deep down, they are just doggies who want your love and attention. ^^ But be aware.

At best if you know what you are doing, you are getting a real cool and lovable dog but also a one that might not ever get that much cozy with another dog as it would get with your own family. One who can lock its jaws and bite a brick in half.

But whatever you do, dont listen to my advice or anyone elses on any forum. Just find out about the breed as much as you can.

I think it's ridiculous that everyone thinks pitbulls are vicious animals. They are far from it. My dog is a pitbull she is one of the biggest sweethearts ever. She loves people and couldn't hurt anything even if she tried. Any dog can be vicious and deadly it all depends on the owner.

No. I believe that it is the person who owns the dog and what they do to it or makes them do that determines if it will bite others and be mean.

No I don't believe that all Pitbulls are deadly. I think that the owner just trained the Pitbull to attack anything that is viewed as a threat. Nothing wrong with that as its nice to have a guard dog.
