Super Mario Bros. 3. A title we are all familiar with. Super Mario Bros. 3 is a fun, addicting Mario game, in which you play the role of an Italian plumber (Mario) who has once again lost track of the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, Toadstool (Peach), due to the evil designs of King Koopa (Bowser) and his children.

Overall Rating: 9.7
It takes four key elements of a game to make it good; good speed, good control, good graphics, and a good storyline. This game, in my personal opinion, contains all four.

Graphics: 9
Compared to the other two Super Mario Bros. titles for NES, the graphics look a lot better than the other two. I don't have any beef with the graphics at all, it's just that fun of a game to play and not really care about the graphics.

Sound: 9
The catchy tunes in Super Mario Bros. 3 play a huge roll in the fame and recognition of this game. When you first start up the game and select a 1 Player game, the World 1 map screen already has you moving in rhythm of the cacti. And as far as I am concerned, a good game with good music and good game play is a masterpiece.

Replay Value: 10
This game just has that much replay value, and you can thank the depth and sound for most of it, but I'm not going to get into depth just yet. If you aren't a huge fan of the Mario franchise, I still see no reason for this not to have a good replay value for you. It's just that fun.

Story: 7
The story didn't get off to a good start in the beginning. If you didn't have the instruction manual, you probably couldn't tell what the story was about unless you played one of the other 2 games or played the game itself before, but as you play through the game, you can start to tell what the story is about.

Depth: 9
This game has so much to offer. So much more power-ups, a whole lot of variety to the 8 different worlds, an overworld map (which is new), a type of item selection on the map screen, just so much more to play with. None of this you had before, and if it weren't for this game (and possibly a few others), variety you see in modern-day games wouldn't be there.

Difficulty: 6
I found this game a bit over the border, difficulty wise. Eventually, the game does get harder as you play through it, but if you're one of those who have such a high replay value for this game that you know everything there is to this game, it may seem like a cakewalk, but in reality, it isn't such a cakewalk, that is, until you reach the last few levels. Either way, this game doesn't have that huge or low of a difficulty, which, combined with the rest of the elements of the game, makes it a rather great game.

So yes, if you seriously haven't played this game, you need to. It's just that good of a game, and I can guarantee that it will seem at least a little bit fun. Would I recommend this game to a random person? Yes, I most definitely would.

Oh yes I loved playing this game. I remember the first time I played this, I got stuck on the desert area where it has the stage with the angry Sun trying to catch you. After watching my older cousin play this game a lot, I knew then what to do the very next time I played it until I didn't want to play it anymore....
