What is your favorite Japanese horror films? American versions are allowed to be posted too. Here are a few of mine, most of them are the American versions.

Another question.... what Japanese horror video games would you like to see turned into a movie? I would like to see Fatal Frame turned into a movie.

I cant really say for movies,all the japanese ones iv seen are weird.
Except silent hill,it was made by americans but based off the japanese game,which they based on americans.

I think 'siren:bloodcurse' game would make a good movie.it scared the living daylights outa me,i really had to push to finish it.

SunflowerGaming : siren bloodcurse was a ps1 game,i dont think it was released outside of japan.
It was remade for the ps3.in japan it was on disk,outside of japan it was download only but since then released on disk.
Its set in a japanese mining town town that went off the map.
You are a team of reporters that go there(i cant remember why)and amid your recording in the woods youre attacked by a kind of zombie,in the panic youre split up.
The reporter is a female,and she brought her daughter with her.her ex husband turns up to bring her back.
In the game,you switch between which person you play,even the little girl at one point.that bit was scary,i was in a hospital basement,hiding in wall vents and even a furnace.you had to sneak by the zombies.
There are a few things that set this game apart from traditional zombie games.
1 is no matter what you do.they dont stay dead,after a while they come back to life.
2.because of the fact theyre already dead,and the fact your players are just reporters,very few meelee attacks will kill the zombie before it kills you.surprise is really the only way to take them down.
3:stealth is the main aspect of the game,if an enemy is in youre way,lure them away with noise.put a trap down.find a heavy weapon like a pickaxe.or try to take them down from behind.then move fast because in a couple of minutes,that things gona get back up.
4:realism.there isnt a constant and convenient supply of guns,this is japan,not the new york ghetto.finding a gun is HIGHLY unlikely.finding ammo equally so.and given youre a reporter,your accuracy is terrible(the little girl cant use weapons,doubly difficult).combine this with the fact that the enemy dont stay dead,firearms are not to be used lightly.
4:the games has a TON of problem solving,as if it wasnt hard enough...
5:the nature of the zombies.they arent really zombies.theyre not human either.they cursed and evil.they dont talk either,they make a really horrible noise,like a screech and a cry.

When the siren sounds in the air the dead are brought back by the curse(hence the name)but it also changes those alive at the time.if you werent awake to hear it,you dont get transformed,this is why you cycle who you play.this also results in your film crew(and family)trying to maul you.
The goal for the two divorced parents:find your daughter.also there ex,and escape.easier said than done.
You also play the film assistant,his goal is to save this pretty japanese girl that asks him to save her before being dragged off.the cameraman i dont think you play as.

The game is scary,seriously.first,the constant change of cursed/normal that occurs on the crew and the few living japanese catches you off guard.
2nd the environment,dark dead and soundless,then you hear the siren,and the cursed moans.
If you turn on the flashlight,that attracts them if they see it.creeping past them in complete dark=racing heart beat(i shouldnt have played it so late,with no lights on).
2nd the soundtrack.its got some scary ones.most isnt music,one is a young sounding girl,making cursed noises,i really cant describe it,but when youre trying to play that really creeps you out.
Its hard to understand but i figure the town was killed in an avalanche,perhaps caused by the mines collapsing.at a certain point it reapears,this means its also hard to leave.
Despite shortening my life expectancy by about 6 years its a very well made game.
I like how you can find letters and things too.i beat a cursed police officer and he had a letter from a little kid,makes the game much sadder.

SunflowerGaming : there is no disk version in north america, and you cant get it on pc.if you have a ps3 all is not lost though.iv never encountered any region locked ps3 game and a quick search of google shows that siren blood curse is definetely not region locked.if you want it on disk order it online and import it from britain or australia(because im assuming you want it in english)the asian version apparentyl also has english but the manual is in asian characters.the japanese version dosent have english.

so basically, you can buy it from an australian or british seller.

fyi the asian version is called siren:new translation.

game.co.uk is a very good site for buying gams but they dont actually have siren bloodcurse in stock right now.so id try any sites you usually use, ebay or amazon etc.
dont buy the japanese version.

I like the ring I think the best. Those movies especially the first one is really creepy. I think that the Japanese film makers do a much better job at legit scares than the American film makers.

I like the ring and the grudge the most, but I like most of the japanese horror movies. For me they are the best at doing horror movies. They don't use cheap antics like shocking the viewers with a character that is suddenly appearing on the screen.

Not really a fan of Japanese horror but i liked sweet home(the game more than the movie strangely]still a decent movie

I'd prefer the Japanese horror movies over the American remakes....

Ringu is my favorite scary Japanese horror film the original "The Ring." It makes The Ring look childish...

yeah... I love Japanese horror. It's too bad that most people have only seen the American remakes of the original japanese movies. The Japanese ones are scarier in my opinion.

I personally love japanese horror movies, I can always count on them to be scary. Now of course all of Grudge movies and the Ring, and Ringu were scary. Buut, the scariest I can remember is the movie called Carved: Legend of the slit-mouthed woman.  That movie is very scary.>.>

The original Japanese Horrors are scarier than the American remakes, but I tend to not be fond of them anyway. Mainly because I have not seen one that doesn't have the same vibe as the rest. As far as the dozen or so that I have seen, they all involved ghosts haunting a place, object, etc, and the ghosts often are kind of similar. Although, I have only seen like a dozen.

I agree with sunflower. Fatal Frame would be pretty cool. I have only played Fatal Frame I and II. Of those, I would like to see the second one.

Clock Tower would be good for a film many victims fall prey to Scissor man but if the film exist no one wont be watching it .

Japanese horror would be The grudge

I prefer Asian Horror over American, just because most American horror movies have become just bloodbaths with no story to speak of...
There's The Audtion, Oldboy, Ichi the Killer...
Also, there have been Siren games released for the PS2.

NameEntry : Yeah I agree. Very few American horror movies scare me. MOst are just full of too much gore. I don't consider gore to even be a horror movie. To be a horror movie is a movie that scares you psychologically, not someone hacking people to pieces. But that's just my opinion.
