I don't get Ash's Pikachu at all. He's been to all the regions so far and had Pikachu with him all those times. You would think that his Pikachu would be like level 1500(exaggeration) with all that experience. But yet he loses to a lot of Pokemon that should be way underleveled than Pikachu. His Pikachu even lost to Trip's Snivy who is level 5 because his Pikachu couldn't use electric type moves. Who else doesn't get Ash's Pikachu?

I don't know how it is that Pikachu isn't insanely strong, but it's better than getting rid of it. If they replaced Pikachu, then they would lose most of the fans who stayed loyal to the series despite all of its ugly turns over the years.

You are seeing this through a video game mechanics rather than anime logic. It also doesn't make sense that Pikachu defeated a Dragonite as well as a Latios and Regice because Pikachu has such a low defense values. Anyway Snivy is a Grass type so naturally it has a type advantage over an electric type.

Well it would be weird if it it never lost, otherwise it would just be the same thing over and over. Yeah it should be super powerful but I guess, if you try to keep it interesting Pikachu should lose, and there's the part about Ash being a trainer who can still make bad decisions. The anime isn't anything like the game. I mean, look at Yu-Gi-Oh, for example. There are many differences between the card game and the anime for cinematic effect. If Ash was 24 and his Pikachu could blow through everything, then the anime wouldn't be fun, would it?
