I am trying to have this mental relationship with some one now. I am not physically attracted to him though. But he wants to take care of me and my son and we have amazing conversations so I'm hoping that I can really fall for his personality that his appearance wont bother me. So for now I don't plan on things getting physical any time soon.

I don't think a physical side of things is the most important thing, yes it can make a relationship with your partner stronger, but to me without that mental and physical combined what would be the point?

I think its good to have that mental relationship with your partner, it brings you all the more closer.

Right now because of my boyfriend and I's schedules, we kind of are more based on an emotional/mental relationship than a physical one. We've been together almost 2 years anyway, so by now it should be kinda expected.
When we first got together, we were having sex like twice a night. Now, we're lucky if it's more than a few times a month.
We're still attracted to each other, we rarely fight, etc. There's just other things in life that get in the way. We're trying to fix that though.

As it turns out, I actually prefer having a lack of any physical relationships.

I'm what some people would call asexual. In other words, I don't have any desire for physical relationships whatsoever, and I don't even have any sort of physical attraction towards anybody. It's to the point where even if I happened to be in a good mental relationship, I wouldn't compromise much if my significant other wanted to get physical.

I suppose it depends what "romantic relationship" means to each person. I feel like to have a relationship with someone, there eventually has to be some physical component. I don't think it makes sense to meet someone online and only ever web-cam, without ever touching. It is not socially healthy. But a couple who has to live away for a couple months... it can be done.  But that's how I feel, I suppose some people don't need as much physical affection as others.
