I am trying to have this mental relationship with some one now. I am not physically attracted to him though. But he wants to take care of me and my son and we have amazing conversations so I'm hoping that I can really fall for his personality that his appearance wont bother me. So for now I don't plan on things getting physical any time soon.

I don't think a physical side of things is the most important thing, yes it can make a relationship with your partner stronger, but to me without that mental and physical combined what would be the point?

I think its good to have that mental relationship with your partner, it brings you all the more closer.

So yes, I could go without a physical side to have/improve the mental side.

My answer is no.
I would never give up my body just to do a job. Nor could I give up my ability to partake in any physical contact with the person I love.

If I were hitched to the person for 30 years already?
And the only way to spend time with them (even for five minutes) would be to give up my body for a machine?

Yes, I would do it in a heart beat.
That is just the way it works for me I guess.

Truthfully, no. I grew up a loner so after having it the 1st time, it's hard to stop.

In a relationship it's not just a physical one, but a mental one and pretty much if you happen to do both, you can have a great relationship.
So you do need both a physical and a mental relationship.

As it turns out, I actually prefer having a lack of any physical relationships.

I'm what some people would call asexual. In other words, I don't have any desire for physical relationships whatsoever, and I don't even have any sort of physical attraction towards anybody. It's to the point where even if I happened to be in a good mental relationship, I wouldn't compromise much if my significant other wanted to get physical.

That all sounds nice in theory, but how does it work in practice? To be honest, I didn't think it would, so I was resolved to being single forever. To my surprise, though, I met somebody who was the same way over a year ago, though, and we've managed to have a nice mental relationship devoid of anything physical ever since.

Such relationships definitely depend on the people involved, but they're more practical than they might first seem.

I suppose it depends what "romantic relationship" means to each person. I feel like to have a relationship with someone, there eventually has to be some physical component. I don't think it makes sense to meet someone online and only ever web-cam, without ever touching. It is not socially healthy. But a couple who has to live away for a couple months... it can be done.  But that's how I feel, I suppose some people don't need as much physical affection as others.

Both aspects are equally as important. You must have some sort of balance to be truely happy. The reason why people go out and cheat is because they aren't getting what they need in their relationship one way or the other.

Sure I feel that I put more weight on the mental aspect of a relationship, but if there is no physicality then the whole thing seems kinda empty. They might as well be one of my "friends"

I think it would be great to have a relationship where you just mind f*** each other so hard you don't need to get touchy would be great for absence that I strong hold whit my belief system

To be hoenst, I do not know. I would have to have some kind of physical - ness going on. I have to. It might just be me, but I have to have some kind of touching going on, whether sexual or not.

Many people go for quite a while without sex, but still cuddle and hand hands... I don't think that's bizarre at all. By the way, you should look up "Romeo and Juliet" clauses if ever your in that situation again. Sometimes there are sublaws that work in your favor. For example, if you get married to an underage girl with her parents consent, sex is legal. But I'm getting way off topic now, haha.

I don't believe that any guy could go without a physical one, it's impossible it's built into our behavior and likeness and it would be too hard to reject. I'm curious though if ladies think the opposite of this and instead would much rather the mental side of the relationship
