ok cheack this out. i was told that pokemon in japan is not like ours.my good friend, pokemon lover n' watcher and player and evrything else that has to do with pokemon told me a story about japan's pokemon. she said that it is brutal. theres alot of of fighting. she said that theres blood too. so much blood that it can faint someone. theres also a lot of original pokemon episodes that got banned in america becaues of the following: too much blood and fighting, epileptic siesurs, and not clothing appropriete. i was told this. if you dont beleve me ask the girl that works at a-1 video game exchange in Boise, Idaho on fairview st. cheack her out she'll tell ya. thats why pokemon is bad in a way.

probably because japan edits the episodes before they reach america, so we won't see inappropriate clothing or blood.

dude4you : Sorry to burst your bubble, but that information is false. I've looked up the Bulbapedia article on banned episodes (found here), and banning reasons were:
US only:
an episode involving bikini contests and James showing off fake cleavage
an episode where Tentacruel destroys several buildings and machine guns are fired (no one is hit) (temporarily banned following 9/11)
Tower of Terror, never given a full explanation, but assumed to be due to the name (also temporarily banned due to 9/11)
An episode banned due to handguns being prevalent: Ash is held at gunpoint, and shots are fired at Team Rocket (obviously missing)
Two episodes banned due to Jynx's controversial portrayal
Banned only in some European countries:
an episode that portrays a "battle of the sexes" format (not official, just the alleged reason)
Worldwide banning:
The epileptic seizure-inducing episode, Electric Soldier Porygon
an episode about earthquakes, unaired due to Japan having been recently plagued by quakes. Postponed and subsequently never released.

Whoa, quite a few Pokemon episodes have been banned. Some of them I think are a bit over the top though.

Although some of the episodes have been banned, I can assure you that it there was no crazy excessive violence, massive amounts of blood, etc. and that it's not really that bad, most bans were just for minor things like ash having a gun pointed at him and such. Although the Porygon episode was banned because of the epileptic seisures that it cause when aired in Japan.

Best Keep your concience as clean as you can, or charma will come with a blade in it's hand. It will strike all those who seek to gain without giving, and spare all of those who are weak and forgiving.

billythekidmonster : Nope. Actually, most anime is just straight-up dubs, Pokemon included. Nothing is changed, that's why the episodes never aired.

billythekidmonster : They do change episodes from Japan to America? From what I've heard, Viz Media is the major provider for all the translation, and the only changes they made was the mouthes.

the_casualty : you're right, that's it.
And did you say Viz Media? I've never looked into it, but if that's really the name of the translators...
