As both consoles and video games have aged over the years, certain titles and hardware which were never really mass produced have gone from what might be considered shovelware back when they released, to extremely rare and valuable artifacts of the past today.

Although I don't own any rare consoles, I do own two things that I am under the impression are pretty rare:

1) I own a white GameCube controller in practically pristine condition. Zero yellowing, all buttons work like they're fresh... I take care of it. Although not super rare or anything (especially not in Europe, to my knowledge), it certainly is more expensive than many of the other colors that were sold.

2) I own a physical copy of Xenosaga III for the PS2. It's one of my favorite games ever, and the reselling price right now can get up to $300.

I'm looking to additionally add a physical copy of Xenogears to my collection, but prices on that are a little too high out of my comfort zone for now - I don't mind waiting it out a couple years and seeing what happens.

Do you own anything that might be considered rare? How did you obtain it, and do you ever plan on selling it?

I used to have one of those wireless Gamecube controllers which worked with AAA batteries. It was too early for that technology so I ditched it in favor of the classic wired controllers (one of which is black, btw, not sure if that's rare but it stands out between the standard purple controllers).

I also have a red wii, which came bundled with the classic Donkey Kong. I got it second hand to sub for my poor old Wii as it started to fail, and I'm taking better care of this one (and playing less because adult life, you know). Definitely a nice touch, though the black Wii looks much more badass.

I have absolutely no obligation to tell you my name, but if I don't you'll go straight to hell without knowing who put an end to your miserable life
