Do you like your job or do you just tolerate it enough just to stay for long. I know most of us want to work a job they like until they retire. Maybe some of you are already at that point of your life. How long have you been working at your current job? I've been working at my current employment for 2 years now. I work as a cashier at CVS. Those two years have taught quite a few things. Despite me being an introvert, i've have adapted to having to interact with people on a daily basis. I've thought i wouldn't last long. I personally don't plan to stay any longer soon. Hopefully i can get out of retail in general. I've been working at my current employment for 2 years now. I work as a cashier at CVS. I have been working at Teddy's Media Radio for 17 years now. I have a cranky owner, That is because he has Muscular Dystrophy. He has deteriorated so much in the last 5 years that he can't sit himself up anymore and he is bedridden now. I have it setup where he can work on the station from bed. |

I'm a Meteorologist just not on TV. I am basically self employed as I run my own weather page on Facebook. I have been doing Meteorology since completing my degree 14 years ago. Basically since 2010. I love being a meteorologist. I have always loved weather since I was 3 years old. In fact at age 3 I started to watch the Weather Channel. Later on I would read Meteorology text books, books in general and take notes. I knew what I wanted to do since I was young and I stuck with it. I also like not being on TV. My friends and colleagues that are on TV have certain time limit they need to talk. Since I'm not on TV I can go into great details and have unlimited time to talk or post. I have two main jobs. I work as a teacher / tutor (primarily for the SAT) for a test prep company, and I have been working there since September 2022 (1 year and 5 months). I also work as an assistant teacher at a preschool, and I have been working there since September 2023 (5 months). I tend to move a lot, and plan to move to Florida in the near future, so I change jobs pretty frequently. I think I will keep the tutoring job for a while, though. It is remote, so I can do it from anywhere, and the pay is good. tornadocam : At first I thought it was a typo when you said "14 years ago... basically since 2010." My brain refused to computer that 2010 was, indeed, 14 years ago. Damn, I'm old. tornadocam : At first I thought it was a typo when you said "14 years ago... basically since 2010." I've been involved at my current job since 2018, though only since last summer I've been attending the office in person and be more involved in the day-to-day activities. I'm a social agent (if that's how you can translate it) endorsed by our country's public estate. As such, my main job is financial assessment when it comes to taxes and its derivatives. And since our country will undergo severe changes to modernize our tax system I'm on the lookout for all possible changes and when will they be imposed so I can better assist my customers. My father started the business decades ago and he wants me to relieve him rather soon. Not the place I originally wanted to be, but as life progressed it was by far my best chance at having a stable life and I've come to like it, though it can also be heavily taxing (pun intended) depending on the calendar and I'll have to be careful. tornadocam : That is such an awesome story. I know that meteorologists get a bad rep due to not being able to fully predict the weather at all times, how frustrating is that for you since you enjoy it so much? I am an auditor for a relatively medium sized firm in the U.S. We mainly do audits for local schools and cities, as well as some banks, non profits and a handful of for profits. I have been full time for about 3 and a half years now and it has had its ups and downs but for the most part it is a laidback job that pays the bills haha. My main passion is getting to help lead the youth group at our church. I have loved the opportunity to connect with students and help them grow in Christ and help walk through their struggles with them. tornadocam : That is such an awesome story. dkmec20: I strive to be accurate. It is my goal to provide accurate forecasts. I think I do well but every once in awhile Meteorology throws you a knuckle ball. Nobody is perfect, but its frustrating mainly for me when I miss. The reason being is I feel like I have let my viewers down. Still, I enjoy being a meteorologist. When I mess up, I just apologize on my facebook page and you tube channel. Then I look back and analysis what went wrong. |

I've just hit 9 months at my current job I'm pretty happy here to be honest, the only thing I'd improve at the moment would be pay but that'd mess up my insurance. I started as a housekeeper at the hotel I work at but now I'm front desk which is a great fit for me. My current position it has been little over 2 years. For the company a little over 3 years. I am honestly now trying to find something else to do even if it is just transferring buildings. Getting way too complacent with the work I do and it is bad to get complacent where I work. Some of the managers just make it too hard to move since they don't want to lose people that know the work. |

I have only been working my current job for just over a week. Before that, I was at my previous job for over a year, but change is necessary sometimes. I have done a lot of job hopping in my life, which I'm sure doesn't look great on my resume, but I get bored doing the same thing over and over. Honestly don't see myself staying at this job for more than a year or year and a half. You never know though. I have a couple. One as a coordinator for international students at a university, which I've had since March. One as an emergency operator which I've had for about a year now. The coordinator role tends to be intellectually stimulating as I'm constantly thrown into new situations and picking up skills as I go. My role is basically being a receptionist and after that helping out with just about anything around the office. I appreciate the stable schedule and the paycheck. It follows a standard 9-5 work week, and I always get holidays off which as someone used to working uncomfortable hours is really nice. It's also a nice mix of socializing with students and other visitors, and more independent analytical desk work. The major drawback is that it can also be quite stressful at times and I'm pretty much always switched on and working in some form giving little space for downtime. As for being an emergency operator it is (to some people's surprise maybe) quite a chill job. I deal mostly with elders, which includes non urgent matters as well like food deliveries, bathroom help etc. So my job is probably more chill than the standard SOS operators. I don't have to stress, just follow the routine. I never have left over work to bring home and if I'm lucky I even have some downtime to chill during the shifts. Talking to coworkers can be fun too. While I feel working full time talking to sick and depressed people can make one a bit cynical... It's a rather easy to maintain side hustle. Overall if I'm being honest, both come down to the paycheck mostly. I'd rather be doing things more directly related to my hobbies. Once I've built up my financial security, I do hope to take more risks so that I can transition into something more entrepreneurial. But in the meantime I am fine staying where I am and building up my financial buffer. |

I've technically been working at my job for just a little over 6 months at my current job as they got 'bought out' or whatever the best way to call it. I worked as a forklift driver for FedEx in a warehouse where I moved pallets of Tide/Downy/Gain and good ol' feminine hygiene products! They were contracted under Procter And Gamble and well........ They weren't doing the greatest job running everything from what I heard. So P&G took back over control of their building. We all had to put apps in and I was one of the lucky ones to transfer over to be a P&G employee! I was basically there a full year before the switch up happened and was already trying to figure out how to become P&G as they had amazing benefits and didn't have to deal with all the bullcrap we had to, and we got paid way less as well! And because of how very specific the change up was for our building we got to skirt a lot of lines and basically it was just P&G one day. Didn't feel like it, did a lot of wanton worrying and wondering and other not happy things that start with a W, you know words like Wyoming! But really they are pretty strict about who they hire and you have to do a lot of stuff like physicals and a bunch of different tests. And I mean a literal physical, not a cough for me kind but they made me feel like an old out of shape old man by the end of it! But I got in and now I don't hate my job, but I don't want to be stuck where I am. I want to change my job, but in the company as there is a load of space to move around in the company, but not so much in my building. Maybe one day ill come back to this post and ill be the P&G President or something! But I plan to stay at my company 'forever' but either as a Technician of the special pallet mover machines they have here or as a Line Tech in the building down the street. I put forever like that as a neat thing about Procter and Gamble is they have a retirement package where if you work for only 25 years you can retire from there with basically full retirement benefits! I also said only cuz I feel like that's a literal steal! They also give you at least 2 free stocks that I know of, with each being above 100 bucks the last i checked and a nice 401K/Roth IRA program it seems 100% possible to do the 25 years thing and retire kinda comfy like. But to randomly yap my idea is to get something set up in terms of some kind of side hustle that makes money, then retire after 30 years, cash out my Stocks either right then or when i get super old and BOOM live the rest of my life as a nerdy gamer! So yeah go buy some Downey to help out with my retirement plan! Oh and long story short I've been working at my job for about 2 years now. |
