Over the last few years there's been a while surge of video game movies such as Sonic, Monster Hunter, and Uncharted. Historically, people tend to hate these kinds of movies but what are your thoughts on them? Which ones are any good and which one is your favorite?

I think the best one would be Uncharted. I think it looked really good and it's nice that it told an original story instead of being a sequel or exact rip of a game. I also think it did a very good job at doing what that the most recent Tomb Raider movie couldn't.

I'm not 100% sure if this counts but I would have to say Wreck it Ralph. I absolutely loved trying to see how many different arcade characters I could identify and as someone who grew up playing arcade games it was a blast to watch. I also loved the message the movie told, and I really loved the characters.

However, if that doesn't count, I'd have to say the Sonic 2 movie because I loved the references to Sonic 3 and Knuckles (My favorite game) they put in it.

I mean looking at it now it’s a bit too cheesy but Pokémon: The movie. As a kid I was excited to see Mewtwo and then the battle sequences. Ash turning to stone was a heartbreak to everyone’s heart but it was a pretty good movie for children during that time.

I would say it's gotta be Sonic The Hedgehog 2 since I don't think I like any of the Pokemon movies more than it, and even then I feel like I'd be selling it short to compare it to any of the Pokemon movies cause it was a fantastic movie that surpassed all of my expectations.

I hope it will be Streets of Rage when it comes out (seriously I made it clear I don't always get excited about the films that are meant for adults)

SonicOlmstead : I thought the 1st one did a great job at integrating Sonic with the real world and then the 2nd one did a great job at piling on extra lore and characters without making it seem like it was just a random cash grab. Though I think if Jim Carrey wasn't, it wouldn't have been anywhere as good.

The first Sonic movie was surprisingly enjoyable. Of course, Jim Carey as Ivo Robotnik was a big plus; he's over the top but not exaggerated. But Sonic himself had an interesting personality and the story was entertaining. The blink and you will miss it moments of reference to the games were subtle and made me smile. I hope the 2nd movie won't spoil it
