Super Burger Time (World, set 1) Review by: Mohammedroxx3 - 8/10

Well, it's Burger Time! Wait... Super Burger time?
Well, hey guys! I guess it's time to continue on with my reviews. About 1-3 months ago, I would usually go by making reviews of a series of a certain franchise or a certain type of game (like my sonic marathon reviews I did a few months ago). But now, I sort of got bored of that so I'm mostly going to be completely random in the games I review so it can be more interesting. And one more thing, this is not for the TDV so go complain over something like that elsewhere. Let's start on the review now!

Intro: Burger Time? Is that a cooking game? Really?

Well, to answer that question, no, it is not really a cooking game that your thinking of but it is related to burgers and food. Now, one interesting thing to say, if you really asked that question I brought up next to the "Intro:", then you either completely forgot what this game is and you need a reminder or you really have no idea what this game is. If you forgot this game and need a reminder, look at the screenshots. Looks pretty familiar now, ehh? Well, if you still have no idea, let me explain:

So, this is an arcade/mame game, obviously. This is sort of a new or a remake of an original game called "Burger time" where it has very similar gameplay but enhanced graphics and sounds, which is how it got it's name, "Super Burger Time". If you're still somehow lost about what this game is, I am going to of course continue explaining this game as I move on in this review. (I don't want to hog up all the info in the intro) Now, let's move on.

Gameplay: 9

Very simple and yet fun gameplay, really. So, this is how the game works: Do you see that little guy who looks like a chef? Well, as you can guess, you are going to play as that guy. Now, as you can see from the screenshots of the game, the level literally looks like a bunch of platforms and ladders, well, it is actually a bunch of platforms and ladders. XD So, you can obviously walk left and right on the platforms by using the left/right arrow keys. You can also climb up and down the ladders by using the up/down arrow keys. So, I have just explained who you are and how you move in the game.

But, we are no where near done yet in explaining the gameplay. XD So, do you see those other little guys in the levels who look like a bunch of walking hotdogs, pickles, other food... etc Well, those are actually your enemies. If you touch them, you will lose a life. (Well, I know, it barely makes since to see someone die by touching food but thats how the game works. XD) Now, what you need to do is to avoid touching them. There are actually different ways to avoid them (other than running away). Well, the first way to avoid them is to simply jump over them and yes, you can actually jump in this game by pressing the "alt" key (may vary depending on how you configured the controls). The second way to avoid them is to actually use some type of weapon on them.  Normally, the first weapon you would have is pepper. You only have them for a limited time but you can use it as much as you want during that time. (You can see the time limit and your weapon on the top left of the screen) In the side of the levels, there are other weapons hanging around. (such as a metal stick... etc) To use your weapon, press the ctrl key. If you hit your enemies once, it will stagger in it's spot, if you hit it again, it will fly away. Very useful, right?

Now, we're getting close to the end of explaining the gameplay. So, you know your character, you know how to move, you know how to avoid your enemies, whats left? Well, I haven't explained what you are supposed to do in the level to move on to the next level, yet. So, in the level, you notice the parts of a big, nice, juicy, and tasty hamburger? (The buns, cheese, patty... etc) You simply have to hop on them and keep hoping until they fall down. When something of the hamburger falls down, it goes to the platform under it and hits next part of the hamburger under it and bumps that down too and so on. Eventually, you will make a hamburger. Once you make all of the hamburgers in the level, you can move on to the next level. Well, thats about it for the gameplay. Fairly simple and yet fun. (Well, I know my somewhat lengthy explanation of it can get frustrating but you'll easily understand what I'm saying if you played a game like this before)

Graphics: 8

Well, now that we're done with the significant portion of explaining this game, the rest will be a breeze for you to read and understand. Anyways, the graphics are alright and pretty good for an old arcade game. One thing to point out is that it is pretty staggering and colorful. The background of each level is pretty scenic too. The only flaw is that it can possibly hurt your eyes after sometime since the colors are sometimes too bright in some levels and it looks just too sharp and contrasting than required. Though, there can be some ways to workaround this by lowering the screen brightness of the device your using... etc. and it can look different on different emulators. To sum that up, colorful, scenic, a bit too staggering but overall, good graphics for a mame game.

Sound: 7

As for the sound, I guess it is not so bad but you can easily see the flaws within an amount of time after playing this game. Well, firstly, in the intro for this game, it shows that little chef guy smiling and holding a golden spatula and a pan and banging them together. To be honest here, the first time I heard the sound effect of that guy banging that spatula and pan together, I (almost) jumped. I was wearing headphones and that sound was pretty sudden in the intro, lol. Well, I didn't have much of a problem with that, but now, let's talk about the real major flaw here, the background music. At first, the background music is nice and fitting to the game. But within a matter of minutes, UGHHH.... Just too repetitive and annoying. I just want to listen to something else or just stop listening to the background music. It's repetitive and appears to be the same on all the levels (I think) It gets annoying after a while, but other than that, all is well. Remember that this is my opinion since I'm the one who made this review after all.

Addictiveness: 8

Well, as long as you don't get annoyed by the background music of the game, I think this game is pretty addicting for some time. It's always fun to play this game again here and there and to keep going through the levels and to discover new ones, especially since the gameplay is simple and yet fun. Normally simple games like this one always grabs my attention for sometime. Normally for some type of gamers, once they get a gameover, they just stop playing the game and do something else, but in this game, if you run out of lives, you can simply put in another credit (or coin) and continue from where you left off. (remember, this is an arcade game) And since this is an emulator, you have no problem in inserting the coins. lol I sort of explained everything about this in the gameplay section in my review, I just pointed out some other things that makes this game addictive. Not much else to say here.

Story: N/A

Well, this mame game doesn't really leave any hints to some type of real story in the game, so, I'm assuming there is no story to rate. I guess it's best to just not say anything here than to make up something false about the game. Though, if someone were to make up a story for this game, It would be maybe interesting or funny. Nothing more to say.

Depth: 9

As you can guess, there really isn't any special options, modes, extras... etc since it's a mame game. However, one pretty cool thing is that there is multiplayer. So, both player 1 and player 2 can play in a co-op mode  and help each other in completing the levels. If it works for netplay on vizzed, I'll have to say that it would be pretty awesome! But sadly enough, I don't see any netplay option for this game on it's page, so, I think mame games may not work with netplay...... (darn it. lol) But, you can still play with someone else on the same computer. And from the looks of it, there are a lot of levels in this game. I'm not sure how much but it is too much for me to complete the whole game. lol. So, to sum it up, there is a cool co-op 2 player option and a lot of levels to play.

Difficulty: 6

Well, at first, this game can be overwhelming since your enemies are typically everywhere so avoiding them is quite a challenge. However, you can jump over them or use a weapon which can easily take care of them. But if you become weaponless after the limited amount of time you had for your weapon is over and if there are too many enemies that it is too difficult to jump over all of them, then you are pretty much done. However, if you do end up losing all of your lives, you can simply insert a coin/credit and be able to continue exactly from where you left off and since this is an emulator, inserting coins is easy and infinite. So, it's mostly easy, well, at least for me.

OVERALL: 8

Well, thats about it for my reviews guys. I hope you enjoyed reading it. Any feedback appreciated!
