Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Featured Review

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Review by: tgags123 - 9.1/10

Guitar Hero III Review
I remember the first time I played Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock very vividly. I was at my cousin's house for a family party. I got bored, so my cousin and I went upstairs where he has his Wii. I looked through his games and decided that I wanted to try to play Guitar Hero. I tried it and I loved it. I was absolutely awful at it, but I loved it. I ended up buying the game and investing many hours into it. Now I decided I should review that game.

Gameplay:

Guitar Hero III is a very fun game to play. The thing that makes it different than most video games is that the controller is actually a guitar, and you have to press the different "chords" and strum the guitar to play the game. When playing the game, you see the neck of a guitar with different color notes going across it. When the notes reach a certain point, you need to play that color note by pressing the corresponding color "chord" on your guitar and strumming. There really isn't much to it, but it is loads of fun to play, especially if you are playing with another person.

Graphics:

I don't know if there is any other video game out there where the graphics are less important than they are in Guitar Hero III. The only important part about the graphics that I care about is the notes. I really don't care at all how the game looks. It does look nice, and the text style and whatnot fit the game well, but it really isn't important to me at all. It isn't exactly something that I am paying attention to while I am rocking out with my guitar.

Sound:

Graphics may not be important at all, but sound is probably the most important aspect of this game. Since it is a music game, sound is everything. And in Guitar Hero III, the sound is great. The songs that they chose for this game are great, and the really fit the "Legends of Rock" theme of the game. Some of these songs include Barracuda by Heart, Black Magic Woman by Santana, Even Flow by Pearl Jam, Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benatar, My Name is Jonas by Weezer, Rock You Like a Hurricane by Scorpions, School's Out by Alice Cooper, Talk Dirty to Me by Poison, Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N Roses, We You Were Young by The Killers, and, of course, the dreaded Through the Fire and Flames by DragonForce.

Addictiveness:

This game is definitely very addictive. Once you start playing, you will not stop until you have beaten all of the songs. On easy, at least. This game will definitely have you hooked since the very beginning, and it is unlikely that you will get unhooked until you beat all of the songs on easy and medium. You will probably get frustrated once you get to hard and give up, though. You can also replay each song more than once, it's not like a one and done kind of thing.

Story:

You want to be the very best, like no one every was! Oh wait, that's Pokemon. Uh... you need to save Princess Peach from the clutches of the evil Bowser? Nope, that's Mario. This game doesn't really have a story (which sucks for me, as a reviewer), except that you play music on your guitar. There is somewhat of a story in career mode I guess. You have to perform to make money and unlock new songs to play, but I don't really consider that a story. Some people might, but I don't.

Depth:

There is plenty to do in this game. There are 73 songs that you can play (including bonus songs and battle songs), and four different difficulties for you to play them on. That equals a total of 292 different patterns for you to try to conquer. Plus, each song has tons of replay value, giving the game even more depth. There are also other game modes that you can play as well, it is not just career mode.

Difficulty:

I wasn't really sure how to rate this, so I just gave it a 7, which is the perfect score for difficulty in my opinion. The reason I had difficulty coming up with a rating is because this game has 4 different difficulties. Easy is really easy, and expert is insanely hard. Since this game has so many different difficulties that you can choose from, it is hard to give it an honest score. This game can be easy if you want it to be, but also very challenging if you want it to be. If you want a challenge, I recommend trying Through the Fire and Flames on expert. I'll give you all of my Viz if you can beat that. And if you are just looking for something nice and easy, try playing Slow Ride on easy.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock was one of my favorite games as a kid, and it is still fun for me to play today. I love all of the songs in the game, and they really go along nicely with the game's theme. This game is good for everyone, whether you are a casual gamer that just plays for fun, or a hardcore gamer that likes a challenge. I don't know if you will be able to find this game, as it is somewhat old and Guitar Hero games are no longer being made, but if you can I recommend buying it. It is well worth it in my opinion.

Thanks for reading my review of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock! I hope you liked it! Be sure to reply and let me know what you think. Also, it would be great if you could go to the game's game page and rate this review for me. Also, let me know if you have any recommendations for other games that you want me to review. Until next time, tgags123 out!
