Got a couple of issues, the first being with the FF7 NES remake. I've tried on multiple occasions to play the game, but whenever I try I get the following error:
"Failed to load game. This is often caused by a download error or another game running in a different window." I tried selling the game and then trying it again, but I still get the same error message. I thought it might be that the emulator isn't liking my browser, but I've tried a couple of other games (Kirby's Adventure and Dpad Hero), both of which are NES games (one original, one homebrew) and both work perfectly. At least when I'm playing them they work fine. I discovered that whenever I try closing the tab or hitting the 'Close' button at the bottom of the screen, Firefox crashes. If it helps, I'm running the latest version of the RGR plugin, using Firefox version 3.6.3 in Windows 7. "Failed to load game. I've only played the original Myst and Myst III: Exile. I'd love to play the other ones, I just haven't got round to it yet! Hopefully when I'm earning money this summer I'll be able to buy the boxset which contains all 5 and I'll be able to complete them all in sequence!
On a side note, have I done something wrong, or is it customary for every single person who posts in a newbie board to recommend reading the rules? On a side note, have I done something wrong, or is it customary for every single person who posts in a newbie board to recommend reading the rules? |

I must admit I did really enjoy playing as the French under Joan D'Arc, as well as the Mongols under Genghis Khan, those were probably my favourite ones to play as. I must admit, though, its been quite a while since I actually played the game, so I'm probably missing a few of the other good ones from my list! |

I'd probably include Myst in the list of Point and Clicks, although I was mainly thinking of games such as Monkey Island, Sam and Max, Loom, the rest of the LucasArts catalogue from that era of brilliantly witty gaming, as well as newer games such as The Longest Journey, Broken Sword, Syberia, and the majority of games that have been released by Telltale Games.
In my opinion, when its done right its one of the best video game genres going, simply because of the wit and brilliant story telling it involves, the brilliant logical puzzle solving elements and characters that you can really identify with. Sure, it doesn't always happen that way, but when it does, it shines out like a nugget of gold!! I don't really have a favourite cereal, although I do rather enjoy the occasional bowl of Cheerios or Golden Nuggets or Cookie Crisp or Frosties or all in the same bowl together.
What is really rather unpleasant though are the new Kellogs Kraze cereal, especially when eaten out of a bowl which tastes like plastic macaroni cheese! I've (accidentally) tried it and it is utterly repulsive! Never again, I tell you!! I've definitely got to agree with this guy! Shin Megami Tensei 1 and 2 are amazing games that you must play if you can track them down! I suppose its kinda what you would get if you crossed Final Fantasy with Pokemon, adding a few elements from simulation type games. They're utterly amazing and its great to see where this amazing series began (sort of)! I've definitely got to agree with this guy! I used 'normal' music to distinguish it from video game music. I guess it represents stuff that's in the popular charts or the stuff you can walk into your local supermarket or music emporium and just pick up off a shelf! But beyond that, I guess I could also say I'm a fan of 'bizarre' music as well. Van Canto with their a capella metal being a particular favourite of mine currently, as well as the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. Definitely not conventional sounds, but both amazing in their own rights! |

I must admit I do like using all the different types of magic as the various different situations call for different types of magic. Time magic and Black magic are probably my 2 main favourites though, simply because they're both fairly powerful on their own, but paired together they're utterly devastating!
That being said, I'm currently playing through FF1 with a team of 3 Monks and a White Mage, and I must admit the strategy of having only white magic is quite interesting and I must admit quite enjoyable! As far as I know, the core audience for video games is in the age range 20-35 ish, not under 18 as many people would like to believe. As such, the majority of audiences are adults, so I think its perfectly reasonable for video games to contain so called 'adult material' such as sex, nudity, profanity and excess violence.
As many people have likely said before, movies do all of those and children are protected from them by law and by a solid ratings system that is universally understood and respected. Currently ratings on video games are not as well defined and law is somewhat flimsier, as well as many people not completely understanding video games, and as such people of an age who are not psychologically experienced enough to deal with these themes are exposed to them without due care and consideration because people are either ignorant of the themes dealt with in such media or don't understand the severity. I believe if the rating system on video games were to reflect that of the movie industry and 'adult' video games treated in much the same way 'adult' movies are, I see no reason why adult themes should not be explored in video games. Edit - just took another look at the poll and spotted "Video games are for enjoyment, not for sexual pleasure"... Is sexual pleasure not a valid form of enjoyment? Hi all!! I apologise if this ends up being long and ramble-y, I'm not hugely brilliant at introductions, so they tend to just collapse into me just rambling on about random stuff.
I can't remember precisely how I managed to stumble onto this place, but I managed to discover it through the FF7 NES remake, from somewhere, I can't remember precisely where. I've yet to get it working on my computer yet, but I shan't give up until I achieve it! It just looks so cool ;p I am a huge fan of video games, particularly RPGs, 'adventure' games, point and click games, the occasional FPS, puzzle games, I suppose I can fling action in there as well, though to be honest, most games that aren't created by PopCap can probably be termed action, as well as a few that are! As well as playing the games, however, I'm also a huge fan of soundtracks, and through my love of video game music discovered Video Games Live. Its an incredible live concert that I reckon everyone should go and see at least once, preferably numerous times because of how diverse it is! Tommy Tallarico is an amazing person and an unbelievable composer, and I challenge anyone to find something about him that isn't worthy of respect! Beyond video games, I also enjoy listening and playing 'normal' music, reading, movies, roleplaying, general nerdy stuff, comedy, internet comedy, and probably many other things I can't be bothered to remember! I'm sure I'll fit right into this place, from what I've seen so far, its much like most of the other wacky places I'm a part of! It'll be a blast, I'm sure!! All the ones that have been named previously are seriously awesome and are all worthy of praise, but on top of all of those I have to add Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall (Video Games Live ftw! also EWJ, Mass Effect, Advent Rising, Myst III etc.), Jeremy Soule, Marty O'Donnell, and loads of other folks I can't remember off the top of my head.
Video game music is utterly amazing and deserves to be recognised as the art form that it actually is! Soundtracks are most definitely the 'Classical' music of the current era!
