Well this game is...a thing. As someone who has never really picked up a Bonk game before this is a very odd game.

First of all the controls are a bit stiff. Bonk is very slippery and not very responsive. You have your jump and your headbutt. I do like that you can headbutt in the air to slow your decent, this kind of helps to alleviate the sluggish controls to a degree.?

As far as the game itself its very...schizophrenic. One minute I'm in a city, then I'm in a birds colon, then I'm in a plane. Its just total nonsense nonstop..and I kind of like it. It succeeds in keeping me interested in the action and wondering whats gonna happen next. Same goes for the power ups. The bonus stages are nice to, varied and a nice break from the action. Its a game with a lot of charm to it and ill guarantee you wont get bored.

Sonic CD was a bit part of my childhood. I used to play it all the time on my old computer. I never owned a Genesis or a Sega CD so that was one of the few Sonic games I owned. I have to say playing it now? It hasn't aged well but still has a lot of charm.

I often hear this get touted as "The best Sonic game ever." I have to respectively disagree there. Its indeed a solid game but has its fair share of flaws. For one the level design in places of just...bad. Full of cheap enemies and hazards you couldn't possibly see coming. And honestly it ruins the pace of some levels. And two is the time travel mechanic, while a novel idea it honestly kind of falls flat. It makes you have to back track and play a scavenger hunt to get a good ending, I feel that's not what a Sonic game should be but that's just me. Though the bonus stages can elevate that.

On the plus side that game has one thing in spades and that's presentation and I think that's what a lot of people remember. From the amazing music to the well animated FMVs, this game is an experience. The levels are very creative and diverse and the boss fights with Robotnik are also very unique and memorable if a bit on the easy side.

Overall I feel the game is a bit more style over substance but its in no way a bad game. Just..when compared to other Sonic games like Sonic 3 it just doesn't hold up, though still a very solid entry in the series.
