I have been having problems retrieving my save states lately. I save using F2 and load using F4, just as in the instructions. The problem is that lately it randomly doesn't work anymore. When I want to return to my save state by pressing F4, nothing happens. I'm playing Pokémon Emerald on GBA.
There are *.sav files in my user folder, so that cannot be the issue. Whenever I save I usually try to see if it worked by walking a few steps to the side and then press F4 again, which has never failed me so far. But when I go back to the site for playing again, F4 doesn't seem to do anything. I had that problem two weeks ago already, and then it suddenly worked again - now it suddenly does not work anymore. I don't know what to do and frankly, I'm losing my patience. Is there any way I can keep that from happening? What can I do to get my game back?

Yes, I did indeed use the F2 button to save. Loading a state used to work and suddenly doesn't anymore, that's why I'm posting it here. I always clicked into the window as I was afraid exactly that would happen.

I was playing Pokémon emerald (gba) and I just looked up in user folder, but there were actually three .sav files in the ' vba' folder (there is also another folder called '  vba-hsmode', which is empty). I tried pressing F4 again in the game, but again nothing happens. Is there anything I can try to do?

It did not help me with my problem though and since I could not find anything on that I'm posting here now. I saved my game the last time I played it, but now when I press F4 NOTHING happens. I've played for hours and gotten quite far so you can try to imagine how frustrating this is. How do I get my game back???
