I've had an artist stuck in my head, really! I've been listening a lot to a guy named Josh A - the song that I currently keep putting on repeat is 'Negative Thoughts' but it really cycles through a few.
He's an interesting artist, hence why I listen to a cycle! He has a mixture of rap, rock songs, punk songs, electronic-type music... He's an interesting guy, and his range of genres is why I tend to get his music stuck in my head. He's an interesting artist, hence why I listen to a cycle! A open-world Sonic game is certainly not what I would expect, to be honest - but I'm certainly intrigued by it! Especially with the graphics, as this is also not a style Sega has really gone for before, but it looks beautiful to me (if this is how the graphics really will be in game - games do have a habit of making trailers very pretty to entice, after all)
I'm intrigued by the enemies too - that's one massive robot at the end of it. It makes me wonder what type of combat system it'll be, as I wonder how they'll adapt the spin-dash and jump type of combat we are used to. I don't think he can spin-dash and jump to victory against that thing lol I'm intrigued by the enemies too - that's one massive robot at the end of it. Hello again everyone! You should already know what time it is if you’ve been keeping up with my current streak, but if you don’t: I’m back with yet another review, for yet another RPG! Earlier this week I did a review on Skyrim, and this game is in that same vein. Today, I’ll be reviewing The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited! Before we get into the review, I’d like to do my usual spiel of background information for those who don’t know much about it and to talk a bit about things that don’t fit the actual review. This background bit, however, won’t be as detailed due to the simple fact I spoke quite a bit about it in the Skyrim review. If you don’t know, the Elder Scrolls is a series of games (and other content, of course) by Bethesda that centers around the fictional continent of Tamriel. Tamriel is a continent that seems to be constantly at war with itself, with many races holding grudges and always attempting to be the ‘top dog’ of the land. It also always seems to be in a constant state of crisis, from the Oblivion gates to the return of Alduin and again, the constant state of war. However, Elder Scrolls Online doesn’t feature any of it and instead sets place at least 800 years before the main series (at least, before Morrowind.) It also hasn’t garnered the praise the other games has, especially due to a rough start. It started as a monthly subscr With that information in mind, let’s get into the actual game review! Addictiveness So, typically I can’t really seem to put games down due to how much fun I’m having/ And, while Elder Scrolls Online is most certainly fun, it’s not the kind of fun (for me anyhow) that keeps you on for long periods of time. It does keep you coming back though, I do admit. I just can’t seem to sit down and play for extended periods of time though. I don’t know. Might have to do with how intensely I play Skyrim? Might not. All I know is that it can’t capture my attention for as long as other RPG’s can, which is odd for me considering how much I enjoy those types of things. But, again, it does make you come back for more at the very least. So, not exactly a game that keeps you going for long periods of time, but certainly a game that gets you to return at the very least. I’ll give this section a 6, which is higher than I thought it would get at first all things considered. Difficulty I wouldn’t say that Elder Scrolls Online is a hard game to understand or play. Really, it allows you to just hack-n-slash for the most part. There aren’t any mechanics that are hard to understand, and it isn’t hard to find out where you need to go (good ol’ quest markers, am I right?). The only bit I’d consider ‘difficult’ is leveling up, because it takes so long to do so if you don’t play your cards right. Otherwise, it’s just a simple RPG. Only thing that really makes it difficult is the amount of stuff there is to do. But, it’s a good game for those just starting off in the RPG world. Easy to understand, and a good way to introduce yourself into one of the biggest RPG series around. Win-win situation there. Depth To be honest, it’s sad I can’t seem to play for long periods of time, considering the sheer amount of exploring you can do and all the quests to complete, the dungeons and the PvP elements… There’s a whole ton to do in this game, with more coming in when DLC is released (you do have to pay for the DLC however. Unfortunate, I know. But worth it!). The game takes you across many areas of Tamriel. And, to be honest, you’d have to make characters from each of the ‘alliances’ that the game has to even get close to exploring all it offers. It offers areas that the main games haven’t even touched much upon yet, so that you can finally get a glimpse of how areas like Black Marsh and Elsweyr look, or return to the lands of Morrowind and Summerset (Summerset Isle’s being a area that hasn’t been seen since the first Elder Scrolls game). There’s so much to do in this game, I can’t even begin to list all of it. Honestly, the download size should be telling (game is gigantic, make sure your computer or station can handle the sheer size of it). There’s such a large amount of things to consider and do with this game, even without DLC, that I can’t even put it into words. I still haven’t done everything it has to offer, and I honestly doubt I’ll be able to do that any time soon simply because you have to dedicate a lot of time to it (plus, the simple fact I just can’t force myself to stay on for very long). So yeah, gigantic game with a lot to do. Solid 10 in Depth, definitely. Story The Elder Scrolls Online has a interesting story, which also makes me further regret the fact that I just can’t play the game for long periods of time. It’s basically going back into the history of the main games, considering the fact it’s before them all. It’s interesting to see the lands as they are before everything that happened in the main series, and experiencing the turmoils of then. There’s also the fact that, with the expansions, the game has multiple stories to tell. The many side quests available serve to tell miniature stories as well, little bits and pieces that aren’t essential but are fun to learn. This game also builds up more of the lore of Tamriel you pick up from playing the main games, which I always enjoy because I love knowing everything I can about a game’s universe. It just… Does a lot to build up a world we still don’t know all that much about. It allows us to finally see the lands we’ve only been hearing about, and learn more of the stories that come from them. It’s an interesting campaign to go through with, even though I personally still haven’t finished it (haven’t bought the DLC). They did an amazing job with how they tell the stories they have in the game, and with giving us interesting lore and background that has yet to be explored in the main game. I’d have to give what I know about the story as it stands a 10. Sound Like Nintendo, the Elder Scrolls series knows how to make some seriously good soundtracks. The music is honestly very fitting for the series, and each song sounds unique. Much like Breath of the Wild, there are a ton of songs in the soundtrack (some, however, might not be in the game anymore as far as I’m aware. Still good songs though!). I can’t really say anything negative for this soundtrack, as I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it and still do enjoy listening to it. From older songs to the newest songs, they never fail to impress me with what music they can bring to the table. They also did a lot better with the voice acting in this game, especially when compared to Skyrim. As far as I can tell, each main character as their own voice this go around, and the other characters do have different voices as well. The voice actors also did a good job with portraying emotion and giving the character they played a personality, which is more than Skyrim really did. They did have moments where they could be better, but nothing that would make me consider the voice acting to be sub-par like the voice acting in Skyrim. All-in-all, they did a solid job with sound. Amazing soundtrack as always, and a major improvement in the voice acting this time. I’ll be giving this section a 10. Graphics They did an amazing job in the graphics department as well, if I’m being honest. The lands look amazing as always, and I love seeing all these lands that have yet to be explored. They know how to make a very pretty land, and have definitely improved since the Skyrim graphics. I love how Skyrim looks, don’t get me wrong, but they somehow managed to make Online even more pretty. Plus, I like the character models in this game a whole lot more than the ones in Skyrim for some reason. The models just seem… Better. More appealing. Which is a good thing, since no one wants to see graphics devolve or even stay the same these days (I wouldn’t mind, but I do prefer improvement haha). They just did great in improving their graphics for this game, though there is a definite difference between PC and Xbox. But, that doesn’t take away from the score at all. I still give it a solid 10 outta 10 in this department. Overall Once again, we reach the end of yet another review. As per usual, I’ll be showing two overall scores. One is my own personal rating (What I’d give it if I there weren’t any sections to break it down into), and the true overall rating (The rating it gets when I average up all the scores). For accuracy purposes, I use the true overall rating when I put down the overall score for the review. Now, let’s discuss the overall ratings shall we? Personal Rating: 8 Online is, overall, a pretty solid game. Like I said, I love games like this that allow us to learn more about the lands of Tamriel, and also enjoy the fact that it separates itself from the main storyline. I find that it can get a bit icky and messy when something like this happens during the main storyline, as those kinds of things can lead to inconsistencies and mistakes. It’s enjoyable to play, and a great time-killer if you don’t have anything to do and don’t want to play something that can be a bit more on the challenging side. It doesn’t get higher than a 8 in my book though, because of the simple fact I can’t force myself to play for long periods of time. When I play a game, I play it in the hopes that it will keep me entertained for quite a few hours. This game, however, can’t really seem to do that. At most, I can stay on for 2 hours, with the average being 1 hour. Other games, I can play for 3+ hours without getting bored. It just doesn’t give the same energy other games give? I suppose. I love the game, I have fun with it when I do play it, it just doesn’t have that same kind of hook games like Skyrim or Breath of the Wild have.
This game has some solid improvements in the graphics and sound department, compared to the last installment of Elder Scrolls (aka Skyrim). It has a beautiful land, and character models that I can actually tolerate this time. The soundtrack is probably just at least a tad better than Skyrim, with voice acting that is definitely a lot better than the voice acting in Skyrim. It tells a pretty awesome story, and gives us more information on the lands yet explored in the main series (something many people, including myself, have been dying to have for a while), and gives us more lore to mess around with. It also has an insane amount of depth, that they keep adding on to every year. There’s so much to do in the game that I’m still in awe of the sheer volume of it. So many quests to deal with, so many areas to explore. It also isn’t a very difficult game, and is great for killing time when you happen to have a bit too much of it, and is a great way to introduce yourself into the land of Tamriel and the genre that is RPG. The thing that kills it, like a few other games I’ve reviewed, is the fact it just isn’t super addictive to me. It keeps me coming back, definitely, but it just can’t keep me playing for as long as other games in the genre. I wouldn’t say it isn’t completely addictive, but it definitely isn’t something I’d play for more than 2 hours at a time (and quite honestly isn’t something I do that with anyhow). That’s all for this review, folks! Thank you so much for joining me and reading this review, and I really hope you enjoyed reading. I’d love to hear some feedback! What’s your personal opinion on this game? Do you think I went too easy on it, considering its past? What do you think I could improve on in the next review I do? This is a tough one for me, because I really enjoy all the games I have on the Switch. But, i suppose it would have to be Splatoon 2. It calms me down and is just a very fun game to play. |

Thank you for your feedback! Glad my review seems to be good. Same here, honestly. I grew up with Nintendo consoles, yet this is the first time I ever played Zelda! Guess I didn't have interest in it until it got a chance to be open world haha. I might test the waters on the other ones later on though, because I think they'll be worth the check. Been listening to a lot of video game soundtracks, mainly for my reviews. So, basically, you can just assume I'm listening to the soundtrack of whatever game I last reviewed. Currently, I'm listening to the Breath of the Wild soundtrack. |

Decided to start playing DC Universe on my PS4. Haven't got much done yet, since I wanted to push out a review before the time was up for the day. However, the bit I did play was pretty fun, so I'll be playing it more. I liked the fact I could customize a hero and their powers. |

What up folks! You probably have guessed what this is by now, but if you haven’t: It’s me again, with yet another game review! Today, I’d like to review a game that many people seem to agree is a stellar game - Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild! (Well, looks like I’m on a roll with all these RPG reviews huh?) As per usual, before I get into the actual review, I’d like to give everyone a bit of background on the series the game is in, as that doesn’t really fit into the actual review itself. The Legend of Zelda series is one of Nintendo’s Big 3 series that are pretty much recognized across the world (the other two being Pokemon and Mario). The series centers around the main character Link, the princess Zelda, and their enemy Ganondorf. Now, they aren’t always the exact same people -- the series uses the same ‘formula’ of Link gaining the master sword and defeating Ganondorf, and does it across different times. The character will always share the same name, but will not be the same person. The game really centers on the ‘Triforce’, which each of the main characters represent (Link represents Courage usually, Zelda is Wisdom, and Ganon/Ganondorf is Power). Many people consider the Zelda series to be one of the best video game series of all time, and like most of Nintendo’s series it has quite a large following and also a large amount of media that isn’t just the main series. Now that you guys know a bit more about the Zelda series, how about we get into the actual review? Let’s begin. Addictiveness Look, the game is hard as heck. Frustrating as heck (which I’ll explain more in the difficulty section). I got so angry at one point I almost threw my Switch. But, I have to admit, it was still fun and very addicting. Once I got on a roll, you couldn’t get me off (mainly because I knew if I got off I wouldn’t gain that same momentum ever again if I did get off). I enjoyed the experience, no matter how frustrating it was. I don’t know how Nintendo does it, but they sure know how to keep you in even when you would probably be better off not being in. I guess that it got so frustrating that I just couldn’t put it down until I managed to get past that one bit. Then I’d reach another bit and continue that cycle. Probably wasn’t good for my brain in all honesty, but dang did I have fun. However, once I did get off I found myself not going back on for a while just because I didn’t want to have to deal with whatever I left. So, while fun and frustrating to the point of addiction, I could just never constantly play it like I could other RPG’s. It’s just a bit too frustrating to deal with at times. Due to this, I’d have to give this section a 7. Difficulty Boy did I have fun getting used to this game… And by that, I mean that I died way more times than I needed to at the start, and I continued to have my butt kicked for the entirety of the game. It’s not a easy game, I can tell you that much. I’d accidentally walk in front of enemies without realizing it, or would miss a shot and all of the sudden I’d be swarmed. This is a game where you have to be careful, or you’ll literally get eaten alive by the enemies. There’s enemies that you pretty much can never beat, or at least that I could never beat. And another thing that happens if you aren’t careful and pay attention to your weapons, is that they will break and honestly? I hated it, I always got my butt handed to me because all my weapons broke during a boss fight and I couldn’t find anything. Gotta be real careful about that mess. Combat isn’t the only difficult part about this game. It has many puzzles that you must (or, at the very least, attempt/should) do, if you want to get stronger and actually be able to defeat the big bad of the game. Some of those puzzles were pretty easy at times, but most of the time… Well, let’s just say it usually took me about 30 minutes of trying before I either figured it out or I decided to say screw it and looked up the answer on Google. Sorry Nintendo, but my brain is not smart enough for this! You also have to be careful of not wasting too much stamina or you’ll die, or spending too much time in certain areas because the weather there will cause you to die. Seriously, this game is geared towards making it hard for your character to survive if you aren’t the careful type. All-in-all, the game is pretty difficult. A fun one for a first time Zelda player, for sure, but you’ll hate yourself if you aren’t careful and if you aren’t good with puzzles. If it weren’t for some of the simpler puzzles and times in the game, I’d give this a 10. However, those take the edge off a little so I’ll leave this at a 9. Graphics To put it simply, the graphics are absolutely stunning. Like, I let my friend play a bit of this game during the end of our Senior year, and he went through the intro at least 3 times just so he could take in the entirety of the first whole landscape shot that appeared before the title of the game appeared in gameplay. He was in absolute awe, and he’s the type of person who isn’t easy to awe when it comes to graphics. Nintendo did an amazing job with the graphics with this game. I loved all the models they used, as they meshed well with the landscape that the game had. They always bring creative monsters to the plate, and managed to make the landscape so beautiful. I’ll be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a pretty game from Nintendo. Sure, I give a lot of their games high rating in graphics I’ll admit, but nothing beats the graphic quality of Breath of the Wild. It makes my expectations for the next one shoot through the roof though haha. I feel like I’d be committing a crime if I even thought about giving this less than a 10. Story The story for the game is a very interesting one, and a very enjoyable one. I can’t put into words how cool I find the story to be, and how much I enjoyed completing it. I loved the fact that it allowed Link to give silly answers, and showed us more of him as a person rather than only a warrior. I loved pretty much every character they introduced -- they were all interesting and unique, and brought something fresh to the story. I love the whole idea of Guardians and the Beasts and ancient technology, the whole ‘being defeated badly once but doing it again anyhow’ vibe it gives. Who doesn’t love a good underdog story right? The lore involved with this tale was also pretty dang cool, and made me wish I could just save it all in a Codex like Dragon Age does. The story has such a good replay value, and I doubt I could get sick of the story (I could certainly get sick of the darned gameplay though). I haven’t played any other Zelda game, so I can’t really claim this to be my favorite Zelda story, but I can certainly say it’s an amazing one and I can see why people claim this series is one of the best series around. So, anyways, I think it’s probably obvious I’m giving this section a 10. Depth Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure this was Nintendo’s first attempt at having a more ‘open-world’ game. If it was, then wow did they do an amazing job for a first attempt. There’s so much to explore in this game, and so much to do. The story quest takes quite a lot of time to deal with, and allows you to do so much more while you attempt to do those. There’s a lot of puzzles to beat, plenty of quests to complete. The map is gigantic, and I seriously doubt I’ve uncovered all the secrets in it and I’ve poured plenty of hours into the game (my Switch can testify for that). There was so much to do right off the bat that I didn’t even reach the first Beast (the one I chose anyway - went to Zora’s domain first) until roughly 40 hours in the game. There’s also DLC to consider, which adds even more to the game (I don't know how much, however as I do not have the DLC myself). There’s plenty to uncover, and plenty to do. I’d have to give this section a solid 10 as well, to be honest. Sound Look, the day Nintendo doesn’t make a game with a soundtrack I enjoy is probably the day I die. They went all out when it comes to the soundtrack for this game. There is at least 4+ hours of unique music (from one of the videos I found), and has about 240+ titles (aka songs) in the game. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game with so much titles before! But, I can say this much - they definitely didn’t make any that were awful. Only Nintendo would make so many songs and manage to make every single one amazing. Each sing fit the area perfectly, and reflected what I felt when I was in those areas. Nintendo never disappoints in the sound department, that’s for sure. And again, Breath of the Wild earns another 10. Overall And we reach yet another end to yet another review. As usual, I’ll be separating the review into my own Personal Rating (what I would have given it if I didn’t break it down into sections), and the True Overall Rating (the rating I get when I total up the scores). I use the true overall rating when I put down the rating for the game. Now, into the ratings we go. Personal Rating: 10 Even though I was constantly frustrated and angered by this game, I’d still give it a solid 10. It’s an amazingly made game, and there was definitely a lot of time and effort put into it. And while I was constantly tilted by it, I still enjoyed it immensely, and it definitely has found a spot in my top 5 games of all time. I wouldn’t change a thing about it, even those very difficult and annoying puzzles and combat situations. That’s what makes the game what it is, and is probably why I enjoyed it so much - I felt so accomplished whenever I managed to get passed something, it made me enjoy it even more knowing how hard I had to work for it. True Overall Rating: 9.3 This game is incredibly solid. It has amazing depth, amazing graphics, amazing storytelling, and one amazing soundtrack. They gave you a lot to do, and made sure you’d have hundreds of hours of content and gameplay. They outdid themselves in the graphics department as far as their usual graphics go, making such a great landscape that my not-so-easily-impressed friend couldn’t help but be awed by it. They gave such a interesting story and lore behind the story, while staying true to the basics of the whole legend the game has. They made a soundtrack that could fit everything in the game, clearly dedicating a lot of time and effort to it from the sheer volume of songs and length of the soundtrack. It’s also an incredibly difficult game if you’re not the careful kind or the puzzle type, and you’ll definitely spend time figuring those things out . What killed the rating though, was the fact that the game could get so frustrating that it was actually hard to pick up again once you decided to get off. It’s easy to get lost in playing the game and spending many hours in one go, but it’s not so easy getting back into the game once you end your time with it the previous time. It becomes intimidating, thinking about that one frustrating bit you probably decided to end your playtime at. It took away from the addictiveness of the game. Overall, Breath of the Wild is a stellar game and definitely one to look into if you have experience in the RPG genre and enjoy puzzles. If you don’t, however, I’d stick to watching others play it if you wish to see the story unfold. That’s all for this review! Thank you for reading and hopefully you enjoyed what I had to say. If you could, I’d love feedback! What did you think about this game or this review? What can I improve on with my next review? Hope to hear from you all! What up folks! Alright so, didn't really know where to put this. But, I know this is a issue that's mainly found on the Internet (at least from what I can tell), and felt that this would be the most appropriate place to put this. Anyhow, I'd like to discuss with y'all a little bit about the current 'fad'/thing going on, and that has been going on for a while, of people hating literally anything or at least making reasons for you to hate whatever it is. I see it a lot on twitter and tumblr, and see it on other sites on this vast place called the Internet, but mainly the two I listed. And also to talk about how redundant/hypocritical it is Now, to be more specific, I'm talking about how they always try to make reasons for you to hate something that others enjoy, by making it out to be problematic or trying to dig up things that will make the creator's seem problematic. I see a lot of popular shows or games or even people themselves get turned on very quickly because of one person deeming them to be problematic, even when the label is incredibly off. Here's a couple examples of that happening: A major one I recall involves the comedian John Mulaney. Mulaney is famous for his stories, like the Salt and Pepper Diner and 'Ya know, like a Liar' and 'Horse in the Hospital'. He's a funny guy, and a very sweet one as well. His humor doesn't involve any harm towards others (I.e. racism or stereotypes) like some comedians do, and he's just a genuine kind of guy. He makes jokes about his marriage but doesn't do it in the 'oh I hate it and I'm trapped' way that many do in shows and games and the likes, but always makes sure it's respectful. But, someone decided they wanted to paint him as a guy who hates his wife by taking one out of context. The joke in question was one where he asked his wife if she minded being talked to on his shows, and she responded with 'as long as you don't call me a B and say you don't like me it's fine' so he jokingly said she is a B but he likes her and says she's the best. However, on Tumblr someone tried to make it seem like he just called her a B. Another one was someone, also on Tumblr, trying to claim that Brooklyn Nine-Nine was cop propaganda and that it promoted police brutality (via jokes involving the character Rosa Diaz). However, the show is entirely fictional and also purely comedy, and the jokes in question stopped after season 1. It's also one of the only major show I know of that has actual diversity in it. Then there was the whole issue of the game Dream Daddy. If you don't know the game, it's one that was at least endorsed by Game Grumps, and was basically a dating sim about dads dating each other. It was a major milestone in LGBT representation, but again people wanted it to seem problematic and ruin the enjoyment. I recall many tumblr posts dredging up far into the past to make the Game Grumps and the creators of the game appear problematic, spreading things that no longer applied now that they have grown. My main issue is the fact that people on the Internet will dig deep, deep into the past just so they can ruin something that brings change and is a positive force, simply because they aren't happy if everyone else isn't unhappy. Those specific examples were mostly on Tumblr, as that's the website I mainly frequent, but I hear of it popping up on other sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram all the time. My friends have been run off the Internet because people kept trying to ruin their enjoyment of something by making the creators or premise seem problematic and thus make my friends problematic. Now, my main issue with all this is the simple fact that the very people who make everything appear to be problematic are the very people who complain about how there isn't anything good in the world, that there isn't any good shows with diversity or comedians who don't harm people or games with diversity. They want all the things the very shows, games, and people they tear down actually present. There's so many situations that I know of where this happens, and it's literally the worst thing ever. Actors get driven off the Internet for this, people actually straight up die over these things. The worst, however, is how they will hold anything you say online against you, no matter your age. I've seen actual adults go after children that make a single mistake, and never give those kids a chance to grow up and change. Sure, these people may have been problematic once. And there are things they do that can't be forgiven. But, for the most part, it isn't a case of the things being unforgivable. It's a case of wanting to ruin everyone's enjoyment by making very very old issues seem like very very recent developments. I don't see why the Internet won't let people grow from mistakes, especially kids. We were all kids once, who made mistakes at one point in time. We grew from those, did we not? Why won't we let others do the same? I just think it's a very dumb issue, one that shouldn't be happening and that needs to be fixed. But, I didn't come here just to rant. I wanted to discuss this with everyone, and see all of your opinions. What do you think of this trend? Have you experienced it, or seen anything resembling it? What do you think we should do about it, and why do you think people do it? Anyhow, I'd like to discuss with y'all a little bit about the current 'fad'/thing going on, and that has been going on for a while, of people hating literally anything or at least making reasons for you to hate whatever it is. |

Alright so I know I don't know you too well (or at all, possibly), but I want to congratulate you on doing what you need to do to improve your life. It took me a long time to realize that there are times where cutting ties with someone would be best for my health, and I'm proud and happy that you also managed to do the same thing. Congratulations on the happy relationship you're in, and the little things you do in your free time that make you happy and improve you as a person. It's rough losing pals and not knowing where they've gone or how they're doing, been through that as well. I do hope to see you around more, and that we can become friends. Live long and prosper, dude. Though, it already seems like you're on the way to that. :] It's rough losing pals and not knowing where they've gone or how they're doing, been through that as well. I'm really hoping I can keep up this momentum I'm building. I enjoy doing the game reviews I've been pushing out, I know that much. Today has been hectic, so I have no clue if I'll be able to push something out since it takes me a few hours to write up the reviews (i like to do some research to better inform me and others and make sure my facts are straight and all, don't wanna give the wrong info. also organizing it in a Vizzed post is proving to be a pain) Gosh if I end up taking a banner I'll be shocked. Happily shocked, but still shocked haha. I totally forgot that TDV was a thing until I won the jerseys the first time. Gosh if I end up taking a banner I'll be shocked. I guess my favorite would have to be the first game I beat, as I could never put it down when I played it. That game would be Sonic Riders. I just... Can't never ever put it down when I get a chance to play it (don't use my GC much these days) A close second is Sonic Heroes. First game I ever got, though I still haven't managed to beat it in the 10 years I've had it. A close second is Sonic Heroes. I don't know if I have a favorite boss battle song. I just love the music games bring in general! I suppose the closest to a favorite would be the song(s) they used in the final boss fight of Persona 5. The whole fight itself was great though, so I might be biased via the enjoyment I felt during the fight. Hello, hello, hello everyone! It’s me again, hitting y’all with yet another review today. The review today will be for the RPG game, Dragon Age: Inquisition. As usual though, before I get into the actual review, I’d like to talk a bit about the series itself and talk about items that don’t actually fit into the actual review itself. The Dragon Age series is a darker fantasy RPG game, made by BioWare. The series is based in the fictional content of Thedas, and the name comes from the current age the land finds itself in (which is the Dragon age). The series starts with the coming of the Fifth Blight, which changes the land of Thedas forever and puts you as the Grey Warden who saves the land. The Blight is part of the reason for the second game, which finds the start of the mage-templar war, with your character (Hawke) in the center of the whole mess, and is a war the carries into the third game, Inquisition. There has also been a civil war in the kingdom of Ferelden (the kingdom the games are focused in) that spans all of the games, and is a big part of the main story in all 3 games. The series has spawned quite a few DLC and spin-offs, books/novels/comics, web series and a film, a tabletop version, and mobile games. Simply put, the story the games tell is vast and expands out of the actual games, and it’s a game that has done well enough to spawn so many different things. Now that you have a vague idea about the series, let’s get right into the review shall we? Difficulty This game, to be quite honest with you, can be difficult. It’s a very open kind of game - it lets you choose what you want to do, but it does make you follow the storyline at least if you want to progress to the finish. But, this does cause issues if you aren’t prepared. I remember constantly going to the Hinterlands and encountering this rift that I could not get through at all due to how low my level was compared to the monsters (as far as I could tell). The game does have the ability to set difficulty, last I checked, but unlike Skyrim this does not make the game a walk in the park. If you end up in a area you are too low to fight in, you will die if you don’t run ASAP. The amount of times I’ve died because I went to the wrong area at the wrong time. I wouldn’t recommend this for people that are extremely new to the RPG scene, because I tried it when I was new to the scene and almost quit due to frustration. So, because of that, I give difficulty a rating of 8. Depth The game is a big game, with plenty of side quests to take on. You can strengthen the bonds with your Inner Circle, gain influence to make the Inquisition more powerful (and thus you, the inquisitor, more powerful), take on the dungeons the game offers, gain agents to also give you more power, strengthen and decorate Skyhold, and more. There’s also the online mode to consider, as it’s separate from the main storyline and does give you some things to do, albeit not a lot (and it lacks players, if I’m being honest. If you want to explore the online mode more, you best hope for some friends who want to do the same. Waited for a long time and never got anyone for a match.) However, if you go through the main story before doing any of this, you’ll find yourself lacking in content post-game. There isn’t any bonus quests to reap after the main game, and it voids whatever companion quests you may have not finished. It has a decent amount of depth, sure, but doesn’t have the same amount of depth as other games in the same genre. Due to the fact it doesn’t offer as much, and actually takes away some content if you finish the story before doing those quests, I’ll be giving depth a 8 as well. Addictiveness As always when I find a game super interesting and super fun to play, I just can’t put it down. But, while I did find it super addictive, there were points where I simply had to stop playing or I’d drive myself insane. The game is one of those that can become so frustrating that if you don’t put it down you might actually go and break something. Plus, I do admit that there are times where the game gets very tedious. If you don’t manage to get enough power to go to different areas, you have to start the good ol’ stupidly annoying grind. I absolutely love this game, but I don’t enjoy doing a lot of grinding. I just want to get straight into the story and all the fun bits, not deal with grinding. So, fun game. Pretty addicting. But those tedious bits and grinding and frustrating just… Kinda take away from how addicting it can be. So, for that, this rank shall get a 8 as well. Sound The soundtrack for this game is, quite honestly, pretty chill. It’s one of those soundtracks you can just… Do homework and lose track of time listening to. I’m not good at describing feelings that music gives me, I won’t lie, but I’ll attempt to. This soundtrack just gives off a peaceful vibe, very scenic and always fitting the area it finds itself in. I also loved the songs that would be sung by the bards or whoever in the bar, as I found them well done and very creative. The voice acting in this game is also really great; it fits the character, all characters that have a major role in the story have a unique voice, and they actually put feeling into the voice and give the characters life. They did an amazing job with voices, and I hope that their next game does just as well with the soundtrack and voice acting. So, a stellar soundtrack, and a great cast of stellar voice actors. I’d give it a 10, and that’s exactly what I will give it. Graphics The character designs they have were quite interesting, with interesting armor sets and weapons as well. The enemies also have really cool designs, and probably inspired a lot of art I’ve been making recently. I loved the character models, which is something I can’t usually say when I talk about RPGs. I’m very into RPGs, don’t get me wrong, but for some reason they never really seem to have character models that actually appeal to me, ya know? I was happy that this game had both a story I liked and also had character models I could actually say I like. Not only that, but the landscape is beautiful. The snow sparkles, the lands feel natural and seem like something that would actually fit our world (minus all the lyrium and stuff, of course), and I just can’t get over how aesthetically pleasing it all is. Honestly, everything is so stunning that I feel like I’d be insane if I gave it anything less than a 10. Story Now, let us finally get on to the part I’ve been wanting to get to: the story. Now, the story is super interesting, in my opinion. It’s a great mix of everything people enjoy: it has comedy, it has drama, suspense, action… The series has also built a wonderful and interesting world, full of amazing myths and alluring lore. The main issue with this, however, is the fact that you might not understand the importance or the history of the characters if you’re going in without any prior knowledge of the series. But, it’s nothing that should stop you from enjoying the tale it has to tell. The DLC expands on the story, and the information you learn by the end makes the wait for the next game so hard. They did and do a great job with telling the story they want to tell, and know how to capture your interest. It just mixes everything the public enjoys, and does it in a way that is actually appealing. Usually, when people mix those types of things together it just never appeals to me, and it just flops in my eyes. So, for making such a interesting world and interesting tales, and having epic storytelling abilities, I give this category a nice, shiny 10. Overall And now, we reach yet another end for a review. If you’re new, I do both a personal and true overall rating, because I want people to know how I feel when I don’t break it down into sections. But, I use the true overall rating when putting down the rating for the review as that’s what it should be when you total the scores. Let’s start talking about the ratings, shall we? Personal Rating: 9 I love this game to bits, it’s been so fun and a great way for me to kill time. Whenever I get bored of Skyrim or Breath of the Wild, I end up coming straight to this game and getting inspired to play the other two RPGs all over again. Now, maybe that doesn’t sound good -- but, I’d like to think it’s great that one game can ignite such passion in me, because I find it rare that a game can do so. I have grown attached to the story this series is telling, and am so pumped and impatient over the next pending installment. I love the characters and their backgrounds, I love seeing how they’ve grown and how they’ve changed over the course of the series. I love how the series may change main characters, but it manages to bring back character’s from the previous installments. The way BioWare handles the series can be bad at times, I won’t lie, but I still enjoy the whole series and what BioWare has made of it. It’s one of those series I can happily say that I’ll be keeping an eye on for years to come. I’m in for the long haul with this series. However, due to how tedious and grindy this specific installment can get, I decided to give this specific installment a 9. I love the series and I love the game and everything about it, but those boring parts just killed the whole vibe and really put a damper on my enjoyment while playing. Hopefully the next installment improves on that. True Overall Rating: 9 Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever managed to get my personal rating and the true rating to match perfectly. But that’s not really important is it? Anyways… This game had a spectacular soundtrack, working well with every scene and also perfect for doing work that isn’t game related. They also had amazing voice actors that really knew how to bring a character to life, and enhance the character’s personality and also the feeling of the story at the time. The graphic quality was amazing, managing to have both a captivating landscape and character models that feel natural and appealing. They also just have very interesting designs for the characters and armor, and managed to make it all feel normal if you remove any of the fantasy elements. The story, when woven all together, is amazing and so intense, and leaves you wanting more at the end of the day. It’s like how everyone is with the Game of Thrones series (waiting for more, excited to see where it all goes). However, the game can get difficult to the point of frustration and to the point of having to restart simply because you got super lost. If you’re not careful, you will ruin your experience for a good while, and may end up not wanting to play more RPGs. They also kinda lack in depth, as they manage to take away content instead of giving more. It doesn’t have anything added post-story, and just doesn’t have the same amount of depth as other games in the genre. And while it can be super addictive at times, it can become tedious and very grindy, which just makes the game lose the enjoyment factor. All in all, it’s an amazing game, just has a few wrinkles that will hopefully be ironed out in the next installment. That’s all for this review. Thank you all for reading, and I truly hope you enjoyed this as much as I did with writing. I would love to hear your feedback, I’d love to know what you all thing and how I could improve in my next review. See you all soon! Hello, hello, hello everyone! I don't typically customize my consoles or handhelds. Most I've ever done for customizing is like, buying stuff that's already been customized (i.e. controllers with designs already), and getting like, some grips for my controller sticks (they've got little paw prints on them). But I never put stickers or anything on my stuff. |
