The Wily Capsule from Mega Man 7 is pretty difficult.  I just could not dodge his attacks.  It doesn't help that the previous bosses are rather easy - lulls you into a sense of false security.  I was able to beat him eventually by spamming E-Tanks.

I personally prefer Melee because my favourite characters got nerfed in Brawl (apparently Ninteno doesn't want to encourage you to play as an evil sorceror).

Plus it was in Melee that I got my first showing of the legendary FALCON PUNCH!

I have personally beaten:

Mega Man (1-6)
Castlevania (1&2, though I was lucky beating 1)
Super Mario Bros.
Metal Storm
Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight (Just beaten 5 mins ago and I'm still pumped about it)

In my opinion 7 was awesome. 8 was O.K (pity the voice acting sucked so much).

NickOfTime : Horrendous controls? You sure? They seem fine to me (in 7 at least). Also it's not really a case of going slower and not jumping as high - Mega Man's sprite is larger which gives the illusion of slower movement when he actually hasn't changed much.

For me Castlevania Bloodlines is an excellent game.

Alien Soldier is pretty sweet, too.

I quite liked the Tick Tock Clock from Mario Kart DS.
There's also Kalamari Desert from Mario Kart 64 and of course, Bowser's Castle

In Mega Man 2 for the NES there are 40320 different orders you could fight the Robot Masters in.

In Mega Man 3 the Doc Robot's name is a pun in Japanese (Dokkorobboto (sp??) which means "Skull Robot") that didn't translate to the English version well.

Anachronox was a fun point-and-click game that came out around 2001-ish. This one wasn't panned, it was just kinda ignored.

I like it because it's the only game I know of that has you control (by the end of the game) a down-on-his-luck former detective, his dead hologrammatic secretary, an old guy, a scientist, a pole dancer, a planet, a toy robot that gained sentience and a former superhero/wrestler. I defy you to tell me that's not awesome.

The NES version also had some awesome (for the system) 3-D effects in Blag's Alley (the hoverbike section).
My only problem with the game is that it is VERY difficult, but it's a Battletoads game (/Double Dragon) so it's my own fault for not expecting that.

I protest number 10 - some Sega CD games were great, in particular Sonic CD.

legacyme3 : Actually I think there is one in the works. Could just be a rumour, though.

As for me I'd like to see a fourth Rayman game where Admiral Razorbeard returned and tried to reconquer the world. Perhaps Rayman 4 - Razorbeard's Revenge or Rayman 4 - The Return of Razorbeard.

Personally I wouldn't count Rockman & Forte or Godzilla - Kaijuu Daikkessen as SNES games because they were Japanese only releases (at the time for Rockman & Forte).

I would've liked to see ActRaiser, Terranigma or Illusion of Gaia on the list, but it seems pretty good.
I wasn't actually aware that there was a good Simpsons game at the time. Most of them sucked (Virtual Bart, Bart vs. the Space Mutants and Bart vs. the World).

I actually quite liked Mega Man Ultra (I think that's what it's called). Mainly because of Wood Man's level (not going to spoil it).

Some more Mega Man Glitches;

Good
In any Mega Man game, despawning enemies by moving so they are on the edge of the screen.
In Mega Man 3 it is possible to obtain Rush Jet without beating Needle Man - you must beat Shadow Man, then on the weapon select menu select Shadow Blade, then (while still in the menu) press right then start and collect a weapon energy pellet.
Also in Mega Man 3, when using Rush Jet if you keep jumping up and down you use barely any energy.

Bad
Mega Man 3 in Snake Man's stage - those floating platforms can easily shove you into a bottomless pit.

KlawedFlaw : I'm not saying the glitch was that it had a level cap, I'm saying the cap was lower that what it should've been.

There is another fun Mega Man related glitch in (I think) Mega Man 3; I think if you use the second controller's D-Pad to move into a bottomless pit, you'll survive and be immune to damage until you pick up a health item. I'll doublecheck this.

In my opinion the best glitch is the pause glitch from Mega Man (pause while hitting an enemy with the Thunder Beam to do extra damage). It makes the fights against the Yellow Devil and the Wilymachine MUCH easier.

The worst glitch? I'm not sure, but a particularly bad one is the level cap glitch in an SNES RPG called The 7th Saga (the game caps your level lower than it should). Considering how hard that game is, anything that hinders your progress like that should be hated.

For fans of the old Mega Man animated series, there is another reason Pharaoh Man is awesome. See 0:37 onwards of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7dSJN5LgsE

I really hated the Wily Capsule from Mega Man 7 - the only way I managed to beat him was by spamming E and S tanks, and even then it was only barely.

You can really only deal realistic damage with Wild Coil, the weapon that can't actually hit him half the time, and his projectiles are very difficult to dodge (not to mention they can stun you for extra damage).

I'll nominate Gaul from The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night. I could beat him with one arm tied behind my back - the enemy rush just before you fight him is more challenging than he is. Then he stays at 1HP until you use some Dark power or something, despite the fact I was kicking his ass without needing to use anything besides the jump attack. What an illogical waste.

Might sound a bit odd, but my childhood favourite game has to be Rayman 2: The Great Escape for PS1. The visuals and sound were amazing, I really got into the storyline, and it was pretty challenging.
That, and it had Robot Ninja Pirates. That is awesome in my book.
