On the subject of never legalizing drugs like heroin, I'll have to disagree.

They legalized heroin in the Netherlands, gave it out for free in a clinical environment and heroin use went down by 70% AIDS transmission went down as well. When drug usage is viewed as a clinical disorder, it's not as cool. Providing government help for addicts and rehabilitating them would also cost less than just sticking them in a jail cell. I just don't understand why people think putting people in a cage with other people with the same problem will magically fix their problems.

I don't understand how this is even a topic.

You shouldn't respect or disrespect people based on their personal choices about sexual orientation or sexual identity, because it DOESN'T matter. Judge people on how they treat you and other people, if you can't get over the fact that they're a bit different than you, then that's a personal problem you have to overcome.

The only argument I've ever heard against this is based on religious dogma, and that's just not a good reason to like or dislike someone.

I'm voting for Donald Trump 100%(if he becomes an independent, which is very likely)

He will split the vote for the GOP and Trump won't be president. Anything but Trump.

Honesty though, I think I might head for Canada and watch the US implode from there, US politics is just a freakshow now, nothing good can come of this. I think we need to repeal this law that the president must be born in America. Get a really smart German guy in the oval office for 8 years, he'll fix things right up.

Even if I get 9 hours of sleep I feel like I could sleep for another 4 hours, and sometimes I do. I don't know, maybe I'm anemic or something.

Legalize it. prohibition doesn't work, people are smoking it anyway and it's considered the cool thing to do. If you're an alcoholic though society shuns you. It's the forbidden fruit idea. If authority says you can't, people will.

I have a million points on this, but there's no reason someone who wants to burn a joint in the privacy of their own home shouldn't be able to. That's telling someone what to do with their own body, it's overreaching, and in my view: immoral.

I know plenty of potheads, normal, productive everyday people who just want a bong hit after work. Putting these people in government cages is abuse, the punishment doesn't fit the "crime".

Legalize it.

Hey guys, I don't know if many remember me but I had been a regular user on vizzed, it seems it's changed a bit, but I still feel like I can put my thoughts on here, it's a great community.

One of the reasons why I haven't been on is that I was in a pretty serious car accident when I flipped the car 5 times and pretty much tore my head open. Needless to say, I haven't had the time or patience to even really use the internet, even though it's about the only thing I can do right now.

Obviously that's not the point of this thread.

Last Tuesday night, my mom went to the hospital for what seemed to be a routine matter with her chest pain,as has been the case for a while now. I spent the night in the waiting room until the nurse rushed in and said she had destabilized. It wasn't long after that, that the doctors told us that there was really nothing they could do to restabelize her to be transported to her cardiologist, who pretty much said that they couldn't do anything there either.

She didn't make it through the night, and I was at her bedside holding her hand when she passed.

It's just  really hard to believe right now, and all I can do is clean things or do something to keep me busy because if I sat still I"d drive myself crazy.

I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, and how did they deal with it? My family is is known to internalize grief and it makes it  even worse. Anyway,, appreciate any feedback, just going through a rough time.

As a person who finds nationalism just as destructive as indoctrinating religion, I think the pledge should be thrown out altogether. really, a pledge just reeks of indoctrination, having kids who don't yet have the capability to truly think for themselves reciting a pledge of allegiance to concepts they don't yet understand is ridiculous.

I've been working at Papa Johns for the past couple of weeks and one think that people don't seem to be as OCD about with as me is the Dough when mopping. Of course in a pizza place, dough is going to be everywhere, especially in the cracks in the floor. they want to close quickly, but I seriously feel sick if I leave dough in the cracks of the floor. Major OCD

steel_attacker : Granted, but you forgot to put the "r" in "burgers", which makes it sound like "boogers", so you will now receive an infinite amount of boogers every time you visit a fast food joint... *flick*

I wish I had more time to be on vizzed.com

I think my cooking is great, but I have a very limited amount of things that I can cook. I can cook a good chili, or a good soup. My best soup would have to be a beef, lintel and barley soup that I make(gas-x required lol). I also am pretty practiced on the grill. I watch a lot of cooking shows, and my brother's a chef so I get a lot of good tips.

I love this competition, unfortunately my vid capture doesn't work properly because my laptop is horrible.

However, I still want to post what is still my favorite 8-bit music, major source of nostalgia... Bubbleman theme from Megaman 2. I even learned how to play it on guitar(the easy part)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wR6ycUzw7HI

EDIT: didn't want to put the extended version on here, but the url of the shorter one made an emoticon... so it didn't work.

Wow, this story is crazy, though it's hard to tell exactly how the conflict escalated.

To be honest, if someone started waving a master sword at me, I'd probably burst out laughing at the absurdity of it. Though maybe that's why the ex got stabbed, he didn't get banished to the sacred realm after getting stabbed with the master sword, so that's good

Police report: suspect was clearly hit over the head with a ceramic pot, no rupees found...

m0ssb3rg935 : Well if "fear-monger" can't be used to describe Glenn Beck, then I guess we need a new word.

Anyway, I'm aware of the difference between actual assault rifles and non-assault rifles, and no we aren't comparing varmit rifles to military grade weapons. I think you've taken something out of context.

The initial remark was that the 2nd Amendment ensures that we have rights to bear arms to protect us from our own government, and I agreed. I also pointed out that we would actually need military grade weapon if we were going to be able to defend ourselves from any government assault on citizens, not just shotguns or semi-automatic 22.s. tgags123 and swordlegion then thought.. yes, actually allowing American's access to military weapons is a good idea. That is why I'm talking about high powered sniper rifles, predator drones, and why I think it's actually a ridiculous idea...

hope that explains it.

Sword legion : You may find that I distrust the government(the police especially) more than most people.

Yes, I know about Japanese internment camps, I also know about the soldiers who got chased away by the government. It would be nice if we were on equal military footing as our government so we could defend ourselves, but you didn't address my point as to why I think it's a ludicrous pipe dream that simply isn't going to happen, nor do I think it should happen.

Let's say we(the government rather) decide to allow hundreds of millions of adult Americans access to the same weapons our government has so we can properly defend ourselves from the government. Weapons like predator drones, Abrams tanks, high powered sniper rifles, long range cruise missiles...

I really don't think I should have to explain how this scenario could be just as bad, and most likely much worse than any "government take-over" scenario. I'd be a lot more paranoid about any tom, dick or harry having access to a predator drone, than I would be paranoid about the government attacking it's citizens for no reason, that was really my only point.(I think we should actually be more worried about our government harming other country's citizens atm anyway)

I'm all for people having access to certain weapons for self defense, but it's a bit more complicated than "you have a big gun, I have a big gun, now we're all safe".

BTW, I seriously doubt Obama will declare Martial Law to stay in for another term... You really think congress would approve? lol.

You probably heard this from Glenn Beck, Limbaugh, or just one of the many fear-mongering, radio-host lunatics who pull these conspiracies from their backsides all day. The theory is not only very implausible, but there's simply no evidence for it.

tgags123 : (summons fail, again)

You said: "When I post a thread in the debate forum, my attitude is "I am right and
I will defend my points". Obviously that is everyone's attitude in a
debate."

I would just like to point out that not everyone has this attitude in a debate, because that attitude makes even having a debate a pointless effort. I try to go into every debate with an attitude that I might be wrong, because if I am wrong, that's something I want to fix.

We all have a natural proclivity to reconfirm our own opinions, but if you want to expand your knowledge, you have to be willing to be wrong sometimes.

yes, I think I would, I already imbibe my fair share of alcohol, being 24, which is already a pretty serious drug. If weed became legal, I don't see the problem with doing it. No more than I see a problem with alcohol, or caffeine for that matter, marijuana is a very mild drug.

that said, both drugs are things that need to be taken seriously, done in moderation, and should be restricted from kids. It's adult entertainment.

I love the walking dead, I underestimated it, I thought it was just going to be all about killing zombies with no substance, but it actually hits on some very serious subject matter and makes you think, it's very well written. The last few episodes I've watched were slightly disappointing, just acting-wise I guess, but it's still a great show.

This is difficult, I'd mention something I used to watch in my childhood, but everything was better when I was a kid, so it doesn't count I guess

I want to say Game of Thrones, solely on the writing aspect(and I mean the writing that's based on the books by GRRM). I watched the first 3 seasons before reading the books, and I have to say that it was the first time I was actually shocked at something that happened on a tv show. I'm not even really a fantasy fan either, I just think it's a great show.

If there was no game of thrones, I'd say Breaking Bad, also an epic show.

I don't watch that much tv, but one example I can think of is walking dead. I think it's still a good show, I really enjoyed the first 3 seasons, but it seems it's dropping off on season 4. The acting seems a bit more pushed, or maybe it's just the inevitable repetitive nature plot-wise of a zombie apocalypse scenario.

As far as shows that have progressively gotten better over time, I'd say Dr. Who, I thought the first couple of series were horrible, but they definitely got much better later on.
